Importance of Innovation Architecture

Innovation architecture is the foundation to the innovation processes for businesses.
Organizations sometimes come to a time in their business when the old no longer works for
them. What worked in the old world does not work in the new, thats when innovation comes into
play. A time for new ideas, a more effective process, and or methods. Innovation is not just
about inventing new ideas but putting into practice and developing it into a manner that will lead
to new products, services or systems that will add quality to the company. Innovation is driven
by competition and strong demands.
It is common for most clients not to instantly view structural developments as they are
even though theyre the epicenter of every single prodigious structure. In an all-encompassing
expression, innovation architecture also known as advancement modeler refers to the methodical
teach, which integrates, assembles, alters, and then modifies dissimilar constituents generating
the formation, design, or operation of novel fountains of classified riches or development. The
innovation architecture operates with opening for thought in the anterior area and out of sight
control. Along these lines, teach doesnt develops into an enthralling power for the spectacular
trend-setter, but a liberation.
All the progress, illustrated in the preceding examination, is an attempt by humans to
make something out of nothing and individuals interested in the same need to comprehend this.
A vital step in the development is that professionals need to be able to understand fellows all
through the period used up journeying towards advancement. Since advancement is controlled by
both heart and head, individuals need to have energy clutched by champions of innovation,
before they may endeavor to be Architects of Innovation. Without a champion of innovation, no
single project ever subsists. For every venture, there must be the individual who takes

responsibility for liabilities, similarly, as a rule against extensive obstructions; there must be the
individual who drives a group forward. Following this discussion, corporations such as Apple,
Google, and Tesla shall be examined for their design of innovation.
Apple Inc.
This company has initiatives that make articulate arrangements, to universally
consolidate stratagems or performances that are focused towards achieving specific objectives
this is what is referred to as a system. A great system advances arrangements amongst dissimilar
assemblies within an organization, examine needs and goals, then centers actions around them.
Companies constantly portray their overall techniques of trade indicating how diverse capacities,
for instance, promotion, R&D, money, and operations, reinforce it (Watkins, 2003).
Apple rarely will take the time to acknowledge competition, they focus on thinking about
themselves. The company takes the time no matter how costly it may be to make things right. If a
product does not perform to par or fit in the company will cancel the product. This habit has
become Apples culture by everyone to take the moment and stop, step back, and take a closer
look without worrying how much work was already put into it. They want everyone to ensure it
is as good as it could get before proceeding. Apple empowers their people, the company is not
afraid to do things. This is done by enabling them to be creative and think broadly without being
under pressure.
Apple looks to their employees for innovation ideas with their diverse backgrounds. The
company wants to hire employees as diverse as the world around them. Apple feels that great
ideas is what pushes the world forward and what better way than getting those ideas from a
diverse group. At Apple, we rely on our employees diverse backgrounds and perspectives to
spark innovation. Diversity is critical to innovation and it is essential to Apples future. (Cook,

2016). Apple motto is Think Different. Apple wants brings every to feel welcome regardless if
you are an employee or prospective customer. Other companies want to innovate like Apple.
Google
Another company that emerges as particularly inventive and fruitful is Google. This
company surpasses its potentials at business design and IT experimentation, scientific choice
making, participative item improvement, ad lib, and further largely astounding kinds of
innovations. The company attracts the best most experts from the society, and irrespective of its
swift demonstrative expansion, it still attracts over a hundred applicants for every single vacant
job post. According to Seshadri & Tripathy (2006), the company has enlarged its wide collection
of novel job offers to increase the epicenter for hunted entry. Its productivity, value of
shareholders, and development are at incomparable heights. Google focuses on their users not
competition, by making life easier for the users. E.g. when they created Gmail back in 2004,
offering a full gigabytes of space for its users. The company creates culture innovation through
business models. They are a people-centric organization where they focus on openness and trust
in the employees. Allowing for employees in other departments to give their opinions on project
ideas. Another culture the organization follows is a 70-20-10 percent rule. This concept is for
employees to focus on spending 70 percent of their time on core business, 20 percent on projects
that are related to core business and the last 10 percent of projects that would be not related to
the core. Googles engineers designed an innovation management tool that is known as Google
moderator:
The simple idea behind it is that when people have tech talks or company-wide
meetings, it lets anyone ask a question and then people can vote up the questions
that theyd like answered. Through Moderator, people can discover existing ideas,

questions or suggestions, vote for ideas, questions or suggestions and see the
aggregate votes to date, create a new series asking for ideas organized by topic,
event or meeting. Google Moderator itself is one of Googles infamous 20
percent projects. By allowing its engineers to spend 20% of their work week on
projects that interest them, Google is able to tap into the many talents of its
employees.
This is just a small portion of what makes google well known for their culture in
innovation. Google is considered one of the worlds most innovative companies by
continuing innovation in a rapidly changing world.
Tesla
Tesla is an automotive company that not only is known for their vehicles but as an energy
innovation company. Their real innovation is the businesses practices not the electric car itself.
Tesla takes the opposite approach of most companies, they stay away from the lean startup
approach. This approach recommends that first a company should create a minimum viable
product before the full blown product. This is used so that companies can build-learn-measure
the products. Tesla started off big, did not focus on the low end price-sensitive customers. This is
similar approach as Apple, Starbucks, and Dyson they are all higher end than competitors. Tesla
hires people that can deal with complex situation, they do not hire just based upon experience.
The CEO Elon Musk stated that how innovation should occur should not be cast in stone. Just
like all companies Teslas innovation is not perfect but it is radical and working, they were
named one of the most innovated companies.

INNOVATION ARCHITECTURE

The top innovated companies like Apple, Google, and Tesla all have been able to
capitalize on the innovation culture and organization from others. Top innovated companies have
strong cultural attributes. Companies like Apple, Google, and Tesla all set culture from speed to
risk taking, and from collaboration to prestige. They will reward for good ideas and seek to
capitalize on good ideas in a quick manner with the level of support needed. Apple, Google, and
Tesla involve their employees in the innovations efforts. The organizational planning and
prioritization of innovation culture is what has made the companies be able to capitalize on
innovation and intrapreneurship.
There are many frameworks and procedures, which can truly stifle development and
business projects. An innovator who is ambitious should demonstrate fearlessness when pursuing
such type of business. Highly complex processes and systems actually can stifle innovation and
intrapreneurship. It begins to stifle creativity when the systems become highly complexed with
numerous processes, methods, and models. The key to innovation is creative ideas when
processes and systems become complex the companies are unable to maximize innovation.
Structures that would be in place when fostering a culture of innovation within my own
organization would be to create a culture that will empower employees and promote
collaboration to be able to generate and implement new ideas. Empowerment by assigning
ownership activities, encouraging diverse thinking, and being open to new ideas. Recruit
employees who are willing to seek out new trends, can communicate ideas, and expertise.
Motivate the employees through rewards and recognition. These are all important steps when
transforming a companys innovation architecture.
