What is Clay?
Are hydrated aluminum silicates among clay
minerals
are
divided
into
smectites
or
montmorillonites kaolinite and illite. Clays are
formed by weathering or hydrothermal alteration of
aluminum silicates rich. The clays are transported
and deposited strata tabular or lens. They consist of
hydrous aluminum silicates; impurities are usually
quartz or limonite.
Bentonite is the commercial name of the silicate clay formed by the family of montmorillonite (smectite).
The pure bentonites are cream or white, they are divided into sodium, calcium and magnesian.
Kaolin is a clay consisting kaolinite occurs mainly by decomposition of feldspars. Complete removal of
alkali and alkaline earth metal require intense leaching caused by volcanic gases, hydrothermal solutions
or surface water.
Origin
A.Sedimentary Deposits: Involves physicochemical formation conditions and includes three stages.
Stage of sedimentary genesis (weathering crust - transport and accumulation)
Stage of diagenesis (primary sludge, oxidation, reduction and distribution - accumulation)
Stage of catagen (Includes increasing depth, pressure and temperature, lithification)
B.Deposits related to Volcanic Processes and Sedimentation: They are products of volcanic activity in
coastal areas and seabed sediment accumulation tank.
Uses
Common red clay used in ceramics, for the production of bricks, tiles, clay, tiles and coarse
pottery.
The white kaolin, for their specific properties used to produce porcelain, and as industrial
feedstock in paper, paints, varnishes and rubber.
The main producers and consumers are the U.S., China, and Japan.

SALES
Evaporitas marinas
Evaporitas marinas tienden a tener depsitos ms gruesos.
kanite.
Evaporitas no martimas
SALMUERAS
Salmueras naturales de deposicin de agua salina contempornea. Se tiene: Yacimientos antiguos de sal
fsil o sal gema y de Agua subterrnea salina.
Importancia econmica

SALTS
Quimiogenos sedimentary deposits are formed
by real solutions. Of which has the product to
Gypsum, Anhydrite, Salt, borates. Salts consist
of chlorides and sulfates of Na, K, Mg and doped
calcium bromides, iodides, borates: halogen or
deposits are said evaporite.
Origin
This is usually an arid environment with a small basin
fed by a limited water supply. When the evaporation
takes place, the remaining water is enriched in salts,
and precipitate when the water becomes supersaturated.
Marine Evaporites
Marine evaporites tend to have thicker deposits. The most common and the most representative minerals
are calcite, gypsum and anhydrite, halite, sylvite, carnallite, langbeinite, and polyhalite kanite.
Non-marine Evaporites
Marine evaporites are not usually composed of minerals that are not common in marine environments
most common minerals found in these deposits include bldite, borax, epsomite, gaylussite, glauberite,
mirabilite, thenardite and tronay may contain halite, gypsum and anhydrite.
Brines
Natural brine contemporary deposition saline water. It contains: Reservoir ancient fossil salt or rock salt
and saline ground water.
Economic Importance
Nitrate minerals are often removed for use in the production of fertilizers, explosives.
Halite for nuclear waste disposal because of its geological stability, predictable engineering and
physical behavior, and impermeability to groundwater.
In the world, you have to: China, United States and India as the most notable.
With regard to the production of sales by region has to Ica, Piura and Lima as the most important.
