0 HUMAN RESOURCES AND ADMINISTRATION

In order to satisfy being a franchisee of Little Caliphs, a person must have the following criteria.
Among the important aspects to be evaluated are whether the operator is a practicing Muslim
who respect and observe the Islamic sharia. He or she must have the interest in teaching and
children with good English communication. They are also required to be someone who is of
respectable behaviour and conduct.
In hiring new teachers, Puan Asmizana would advertise the vacancies on the internet such as in
Mudah.my website. LC HQ also helps to advertise the vacancies. A number of candidates will
be picked for an interview with the operator based on their profile. To be a teacher for this
kindergarten, Puan Asmizana emphasises on a candidate with experience and most importantly,
a practicing Muslim. Training is compulsory to a new teacher. It is provided by the company for
every year in a week time.
Teachers are paid based on their qualification. For diploma graduate the rate is RM900 while a
degree graduate is RM1000. One who has experienced will be paid at RM1100. During the early
months of the operation, Puan Asmizana only employed one teacher and the teacher was given
full trust in handling the students. The first teacher was paid at RM 900 per month and Puan
Asmizana promised to provide for EPF and SOCSO once the business grows. Currently, there
are 10 teachers in this franchise. Puan Asmizana also plan to hire a new administrative staff to
help on general admin works.
As a franchisee, Puan Asmizana will send her staff for training regularly to update their
knowledge and learn on new programmes, conducted by the franchisor. For instance, the
teachers will be trained on the techniques to implement new programme such as tahfiz
programme, a new programme to be offered by the Little Caliphs.
For the remuneration scheme, the staff would receive a monthly salary with EPF and SOCSO
as well as ex-gratia bonus. An overtime payment is given to the teachers who work beyond the
business hours. Apart from that, Puan Asmizana occasionally treats her staff for lunch.

The performance evaluation of the teachers will depend upon the childrens progress. A teacher
would be evaluated based on the performance of the students in her class. Lacking of progress
depicts that the teachers are not focusing on certain aspects in their teachings.
The kindergarten also received some complains from the parents regarding the teachers
scolding the students. However, according to Puan Asmizana, she believed that the teachers
are only doing so to discipline the students.
In terms of the meals provided for the students, Puan Asmizana made a contract with a
personal caterer whom she has known for a long time to provide meals for the students in the
morning and afternoon meals. According to Puan Asmizana, the caterer is reliable in terms of
quality and cleanliness. Up to this date, there was no case related to food poisoning involving
teachers and students.
