In this particular study, the determinants in choosing Senior High School strands were the focus

areas and were analyzed in relation to their demographic profile such as age, gender and
socioeconomic status.
The researchers focus to quantitative design to analyze the factors that affect the choice
of strand of selected Grade 11 students. The researchers will record, describe, tally, analyze and
interpret all the data gathered based on the instrument that will be use.

3.2 Research Locale


The researchers will gather information at Our Lady of Fatima University Antipolo
campus because the respondents of this study will be coming from the Grade 11 students of the
said university. Our Lady of Fatima University is located at Km 23 Sumulong Highway Brgy.
Sta. Cruz, Antipolo City, Rizal,Philippines.

3.3 Population and Sampling


The researchers choose purposive sampling for this study. A purposive sampling, also
commonly called asjudgmental or selective sampling, is a study wherein the researchers
select certain participants, incidents, qualities, situations, and so forth to include in the study
(Ary, Jacobs, Razavieh, Sorensen 2009). According to the Admissions Office of OLFU Antipolo Campus, there are 2,060 students enrolled in OLFU- Senior High School. The
researchers will select 50 students from each strand. Also, The researchers set criteria in selecting
the respondents that suit to the study to gather the exact information: [1] Grade 11 students
enrolled in OLFU-SHS [2] Male or Female [3] Literate [4] 15-17 years old [5] Willing to
participate.

3.4 Researched Ethics


The researchers will follow the standard procedure in conducting this study. The
researchers will give a Letter of Permission to the Deans Office of Our Lady of Fatima
University so that the research study will be legal and will undergo a proper authorization. The
researchers performed the proper citation of authors and other references based on American
Psychological Association (APA). On the process of gathering the data, ethical clearance will be
secured. The researchers did not copy any content of the research study.

3.5 Research Instruments


The researchers will design a self-made questionnaire for the data gathering process to get a
quantitative data. The researchers will be doing two (2) pages survey type questionnaire
composed of forty (60) questions about the four (4) factors. The content of the survey has
fifthteen (15) questions in each factor and randomly distributed. The aim of the survey is to
determine the factors affecting the choice of strand as perceived by Grade 11 students.

3.6 Data Collection


The researchers will go to the Deans Office of Our Lady of Fatima University Antipolo
Campus (Appendix A), to ask approval to conduct the research to the said university and to
follow the standard operating procedure in gathering information for the research study regarding
the factors affecting the choice of strand as perceived by the Grade 11 students in OLFUAntipolo. On the process of gathering the data, ethical clearance will be secured. The
respondents will be given two (2) pages of paper containing the questions they will be needed to
answer for the said research study. After the data gathering, the results will be interpreted and
analyzed by the statistician and adviser.
