For this course the Configuration Wizard is the central place to

Create/Delete a 800xA system

Start/Stop a 800xA system

Add extensions to the system

Manage the 800xA users in the system

3.2.1 Create System

Creating the system will also create the aspect server. Perform this on the computer
designated to be the primary aspect server. When the system is created, the user
currently logged in is added to the system as member of the IndustrialIT groups
Everyone, System Engineer and Application Engineer. It is recommended that the
same user account as the one used for installation also be used when creating the
system. Make sure that you are logged in as System Administrators in Windows to
receive all default settings throughout the Configuration Wizard.
Create a new System Boiler in the Configuration Wizard:
1. Double left click mouse click on Configuration Wizard on the desktop.
2. The Configuration Wizard with Select Type of Configuration window is

3. The Plant Explorer Workplace is viewable on screen

3.3.2 Application Structures

The main application structures of the 800xA system. These structures are primary
structures, because it is assumed that most Application Engineers will perform most of
their work within these structures.

Control Structure

Functional Structure

Location Structure

Object Type Structure

User Structure

3.3.2.1 Control Structure

The Control Structure defines the structure of control network and control software,
mainly from an implementation perspective less from a plant perspective.

3.3.2.2 Functional Structure

The Functional Structure is used

To structure the control problem to identify reusable solutions

To map the plant functions to product functions, like a valve and its signals

For plant function related information, like graphics, documents, trends

As the base for plant dependent sorting, like alarms, security

3.3.2.3 Location Structure

The Location Structure is a placement of functions that are realized as physical
equipment. It contains location related information like architectural drawings, floor
layouts and physical plant layouts.

3.3.2.4 Object Type Structure

The Object Type Structure is

Used for definition and maintenance of object types, product types and aspect
groups

Grouping the object types to owner/maintainer of types

Defines structured/composite types

The definition place for the library contents

The place where IIT enabled products are defined and maintained here

3.3.2.5 User Structure

The User Structure is the structure for the Users and User Group settings and
preferences, like mapping to Windows users, Associations to roles and workplace
references.

3.3.3 Administrative Structures

These structures contain the objects that are used to configure and control the system
itself. The system comes with a lot of predefined structures. The set of structures can
be extended by an arbitrary number of structures by anyone using the system.

3-18

3.4 Aspect Objects

Aspect Object is a key concept in the Plant Explorer. With the Plant Explorer you can
create the most basic elements of your 800xA System, the simple objects. Simple
objects can be placed directly into a structure, but they can also be parts of other
objects, so called composite objects. Simple objects can be pipes or valves or other
basic elements you use to build a more complex unit.

3.4.1 Create Aspect Objects

Create an Aspect Object in Functional Structure:
1. Open Functional Structure in Plant Explorer

2. Right mouse click on the Root object in Functional Structure.

3. Left mouse click on the New Object command.

4. The New Object window is displayed.

5. Left mouse click on the *Generic Type.
6. Type in the object name Plant.
7. Type in the object description Boiler plant.
8. Left mouse click on the Create button.

The result is displayed in the plant explorer.

3.4.2 Insert Aspect Objects

Insert an Aspect Object in Functional Structure into Document Structure:
1. Open Document Structure in Plant Explorer

9. Right mouse click on the ControlIT Documentation object in Documentation

Structure.

12. Select the Functional Structure.
13. Select the Plant object via left mouse click
14. Left mouse click on the Insert button.

15. Now the Plant object is viewed in the Documentation Structure also.
16. Insert the next object or close the Insert Object window.

3.4.3 Create Aspects

3.5 Control Project

3.5.1 Control Network

One System ( Aspect Directory ) could have many Control Network, one for each
connectivity ( OPC Server type ). Inside this Control Networks the data of different
Control Projects could be shared by OPC.
It is possible to create several Control Networks. To share the data between them this
could only be handled by the Process Portal itself.
Create a Control Network in the Process Portal:
1. Right click on the Root object of the Control Structure
2. Select New Object from the Context menu

3-26

3. Left click on Object Types Control System Control Types Control

Network
4. Type in the new name for the Control Network or take the proposed name
5. Left click on the Create button

6. The new Control Network object was created

3.5.2 Create Control Project

It is a project for the engineering tool Control Builder. It is a place where to write
Control Builder. It is a place where to write Control Applications, Control Programs or
Control Modules and to download the code into one of the controllers of the 800xA
family, e.g. AC800M.
Create a Control Project:
1. Right click on the Control Network object of the Control Structure

3.6 Interplay between Process Portal and Control Builder

This chapter gives an overview about the interplay between the Process Portal and the
Control Builder.

3.6.1 Differences
Lets have a look to the differences between the Control Structure of the Process
Portal and the Control Builder working path.
First there are a lot of similar items where no differences exist.

3-30

Engineering an 800xA System

On the first view there are some objects which do not have corresponding objects on
the other working side.
Some objects of the Control Builder are located on different places in the Process
Portal.

There are some Process Portal objects in the Control Structure which we can not find
in the Control Builder.

3.6.3 Control Aspects

On each Object Type and therefore on each instance later on, three different aspects
are needed to get control about the object and also for interplaying with the Control
Builder: Control Builder Name, Control Properties and the OPC connection aspect
-for this example called Function Block.
