Growing population has increased demand for

housing, industrial sites, civil engineering
infrastructure and energy. It is putting a strain on
natural resources at a time when there is a desire
to tackle climate change and minimize pollution
in inner city and industrial areas. This workshop
will address the issues associated with polluted
cities through promotion of low embodied energy
building materials, energy conservation and
energy efficiency.

To cover these humanitarian issues new build technologies, retrofit designs of existing buildings,
refurbishment, renewable energy sources, new low cost building materials, predictive tools using
environmental modeling and simulation tools incorporating pollution levels must be considered.
Recent advances in science and technology provide new opportunities for buildings to interact with both
internal and external environment. This workshop will advance novel materials based solutions to meet our
objectives through a holistic approach. This can be achieved by the development of materials coatings and
engineering systems.
The workshop will put accross, showcase collaborative research activities between the University of Bath
(UK), MANIT Bhopal, IIT Delhi under the theme of "Green building & Sustainable technologies.

Objective of workshop
The main objective of this workshop is to disseminate the research
outcome that has been obtained so far by the teams of researchers at the
partner institutions under the UKIERI sponsored research project.
Findings will be discussed with experts and stakeholders from
industries, government organizations, academic and research
institutions in India and UK through interactive lectures and
discussions.
The deliberations shall concentrate on determining effective strategies
of implementing sustainable and interactive coatings and materials to
the built environment.

Key features of workshop

A key feature of this workshop will be to discuss the integrated
approach combining advanced materials fabrication, analytical
and modeling techniques in science and engineering.
It includes:

Sustainable construction materials.
