I desire to implement my academic knowledge and professional experience of bridge engineering for the position. After undergraduation in May 2006, I had been involved in structural design of bridges in India, Myanmar and Denmark enabling me to understand the planning stages involving land use and environmental planning of a structure required for the job. A grader position in Urban/Environmental Planning would allow me to utilize my knowledge in assisting you in grading student-assigned tasks. Being a professional bridge engineer for the past 9 years, I had been involved in numerous challenging projects in India, Denmark and Myanmar in design, checking and construction coordination of highway concrete bridges. During my career, I had the privilege to be the bridge designer of a prestigious project, Detailed Project Report for Chaungma Lingadaw Section of Trilateral Highway, Myanmar under the Ministry of External Affairs, India. The project road was the first to connect three nations - India, Thailand and Myanmar. RITES was assigned to design forty bridges on the project road. I designed twenty reinforced concrete I-Girder bridges and was the recipient of Best Milestone Project Award in 2012 for quality and timely completion of special project. After significant and continuous contribution in RITES, I was involved with another pivotal road project in COWI, M10 - Detailed project report for widening of KGE BUGT MOTORVEJ, Denmark under the Danish Road Directorate. The project road links three countries Germany, Denmark and Sweden. COWI had bagged the opportunity to work on the project road in Denmark. I designed a 2-span, 50meters long post-tensioned prestressed continuous concrete slab resting on integral piers for the project. It was a remarkable experience as well as a great challenge to work in this project. Additional responsibility of providing solutions to construction issues apart from detailed design of bridges entails my professional profile as a bridge engineer. It involved client interaction on daily basis and with senior officials as sparring partners of the project. My deep-rooted interest in providing engineering solutions through programming has nurtured throughout my work experience. I have developed in-house programs in Python, Excel and Vba over the years to aid structural modelling, result extraction and design of bridges. In addition, I have a good exposure to finite element analysis software and have taken courses to build finite element solvers using C++ at Arizona State University. Through my academic knowledge and professional experience, I shall always strive to put forth my best to deliver quality work in scheduled time frame. Along with this letter is my resume which illustrates my credentials further for the above posted job. Thank you for considering my application and I look forward to hear from you. Yours Sincerely Sukrit Ghorai
