FCC Warning
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requirements prescribe certification of personal computers and any interconnected peripherals in the FCC rules and regulations.
This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: this device may not
cause harmful interference, and this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
This equipment generates and uses radio frequency (rf) energy for its operation and, if not installed and used in accordance with
the installation and operation manual, may cause interference to radio and television reception. It has been found to comply
with the limits for a Class A computing device pursuant to the aforementioned regulations. These are designed to provide
reasonable protection against such interference when operated in a residential area. Only peripherals (computer input/output
devices) certified to comply with the Class A limits may be connected to this device. Operation with noncertified computer
peripherals is likely to result in interference with radio and television reception. If this equipment does cause interference to

Overview
The CSI Model HC7410 Hand-Held Console provides a data entry and examination
interface for various CSI products. CSI products used with the CSI Model HC7410
Hand-Held Console include:
The CSI Model HC7410 Hand-Held Console is the only means of setting certain
memory parameters in the DCU, Unitary Controller Interface (UCI), Unitary Controller
(UC), and certain Taps. These parameters include DCU station address assignments, as
well as fail-safe values for various outputs connected to a DCU.
The Hand-Held Console is used extensively during the initial installation of a DCU or
UCI and associated UCs. It is used to ensure that a DCU or UC has its field inputs and
outputs wired correctly, and that the programming information that has been entered
for a certain control strategy performs as you intended. After the system is running, it is
used as a troubleshooting tool and for day-to-day maintenance.

Overview
Installation Guide
Displaying or controlling of all System 7000 points on the Controller LAN once the
database has been defined and the HC7410 has been connected to a 7400, 7440, 7450
DCU, or 7460 UCI.
Programming of non-volatile random access memory (NOVRAM) for output failsafes as well as communication parameters in the local DCU, or TAP. The Model
HC7410 Hand-Held Console provides the only means of accomplishing this.
Initiating a test of all memory in the local DCU or UCI.
Disabling automatic control on points in the local DCU, UCI, or UC.
Placing points in a test mode in the local DCU or UCI and UC for application
program check-out.
Displaying random access memory (RAM) statistics, microprocessor utilization
time, and I/NET LAN utilization time for the local DCU or UCI.
Displaying and setting the date or time in the local DCU or UCI.
LED Presentation
When connected to a DCU or UCI, the normal presentation on the LED display is the
time in 24-hour military format, e.g., 1:00 P.M. is 130000. The first two numbers are the
hour, the second pair are the minutes, and the last pair are the seconds. When connected
to a UC or LTS80U, the normal presentation is UC, indicating connection has been
made to a unitary controller. In either case, when a key is pressed, the display changes to
zeroes in anticipation of further input. When a key sequence is completed or aborted, the
display returns to time or to UC. A key sequence is aborted at any time by pressing the
[CLEAR] key. Negative numeric values are displayed with a minus sign,

Installation
Connecting to Controllers
The hand-held console receives its power from the DCU or UCI that it is connect to. A
silver coiled cord six feet in length is used to make the connection (P/N 602135-0003; no
tag). One end of the cord is plugged into the port on the Model HC7410 hand-held
console while the other end is plugged into the console port of the DCU or UCI (see
Figure 2).
Connecting to a UCs
You can plug the hand-held console into the LAN A or LAN B Communications port of
a unitary controller. A black coiled cord six feet in length is used to make the connection
(P/N 606014-0001; tagged: Console-1). You must sever (unplug) communications
between the UCI and UC before plugging the HC7410 at this location. One end of the
cord is plugged into the port on the HC7410 while the other end is plugged into the
appropriate port of the individual UC (see Figure 2).
Connecting to A LTS80U
The hand-held console can also be connected to the maintenance connector in the
LTS80U Space Sensor Assembly. A straight silver cord, two feet in length, is used to make
this connection (P/N 606014-0003; tagged: Console-3). Plug one end of the cord into the
port on the HC7410, and the other end into the maintenance port on the bottom of the
sensor assembly (see Figure 2). When the HC7410 is plugged into the LTS80U space
sensor port, communications between the UCI and UC are also automatically interrupted. Access to this connector is prohibited, unless the sensor cover is removed.

Operation
Installation Guide
Operation
DCU and UCI point related key sequences require a point type and a six digit point
address. The point type is one of the keys: DI, DO, ACC, DGI, DGO, AI, or AO. The point
address, SSPPBB, consists of a station number, SS, point number, PP, and bit offset, BB.
The value for the station number is 0 through 63. The value for the point number is 0
through 31. The value for the bit offset is 0 through 7 for input points and 0 for output
points.
UC point related key sequences (assuming that a connection to a UC or LTS80U sensor
has been made) require a point type and a single digit point address. The point type is one
of the keys: DI, DO, AI, or AO. The point address B is the bit offset of the point address
(see previous paragraph). The value for the bit offset is 0 through 7 for all input or
output points.
Points in other DCUs or UCIs on the same I/NET Local Area Network (LAN) can be
monitored or controlled when the HC7410 console is connected to a Model 7400, 7440,
or 7450 DCU, or Model 7460 UCI. These points must be previously defined in the DCU
or UCI using a host computer. Points in other DCUs or UCIs may not be controlled or
monitored when the Model HC7410 Hand-Held Console is connected to a Model 7300
or Model 7301 DCU, Series 7200 UC, or LTS80U Sensor Assembly.

Operation
Manual Mode
Placing a point in the manual mode inhibits any automatic controls occurring from all
application programs (i.e., ATS, ATC, or DEMAND, DDC in the DCU, or UC editors in
the UCI, etc.) but still allows control from the HC7410 hand-held console or any host
computer. Only output points may be placed in the manual mode. The [MAN] key is also
used to display a summary of all of the points in the manual mode.
17
Operation
Installation Guide
Press [SELF TEST]. The display clears and the MEMORY FAILURE LED on the
DCU board (if applicable) is illuminated. If the test is completed successfully, the
HC7410 display returns to the time and the LED goes out. If the test fails, the LED
remains illuminated and an error code is displayed, which should be recorded and
reported to the factory. The error codes are displayed in the last two positions.
The error codes currently defined are:
01 RAM data failure: positions one through four contain the hexadecimal
address of the bad memory location,.
02 EPROM checksum failure positions three and four contain the calculated
checksum.
Test Mode
Placing a point in the test mode inhibits all scanning, allows controls to be issued regardless of point type, and inhibits the control of field equipment but allows automatic and
manual controls to be issued to the DCU or UCI database. The [TEST] key also is used
to display a summary of all of the local DCU, or UCI points in the test mode.
Note:
Removing an accumulator point from the test mode allows it to start incrementing from the
last value entered rather than returning to the current input value.
Time Display
The time is presented in 24-hour military format, as hours, minutes and seconds. For
example, 1:00 P.M. is 13000, and 2:30 P.M. is 123000. Changing time causes the latest
commands to be re-issued to all discrete output points.
