I.

Course Description:
Mathematical treatment of problems in engineering; ordinary differential equations and
applications; higher-order differential equations and application; Laplace transformations; Fourier
series; matrices, determinants and Eigen values.

II.

General Objectives:
At the end of the course, students are able to:
1. Define and explain the basic concepts of differential equations
2. Gain working knowledge of determinants and marices for use in engineering problems, particularly
the solution of systems of linear equations.
3. Interpret the result of the analysis of the engineering problems involving equilibrium systems in
relation to the life and safety of people.
1.
2.
3.
4.

Specific Objectives: At the end, students should be able to:

Know the solutions of first order differential equations.
Use differential equations in describing and studying the behavior of certain physical systems.
Express general periodic functions in terms of sine and cosine function by Fourier series expansion.
Use Laplace transformations in finding the solution of linear differential equations of order greater
than one.
