What is the Arts Process Journal?

This journal is a space for you to monitor and measure your growth as a musician. You will be
expected to complete a variety of activities, including reflections, visuals, brainstorming,
research, and goal setting.
If you take this project seriously and invest your time and effort into it, you will be proud of
your finished product and of the obvious growth you have made as a musician.
As your teacher, I will guide you through this process. If you have any questions or concerns at
any time during the year, do not hesitate to speak with me before or after class. I want you to
succeed! You may also email me at Morgan.Richardson@ecsd.net
This journal will kept electronically. Please make sure that every time you input something into
your APJ it is saved. You will be submitting parts of this either to me via email or using our class
website. http://stclementmusic.weebly.com.
How Will I Be Graded?
This journal will be graded for both your MYP grade and your overall grade.

In MYP, there are four criteria that need to be evaluated at least twice during the

year.
o Criterion A: Knowing and Understanding
o Criterion B: Developing Skills
o Criterion C: Thinking Creatively
o Criterion D: Responding
Through the projects in this book, these will be evaluated throughout the year.
This journal will also be handed in and graded as a whole; therefore you must keep
it organized!

preference. Please be aware that by signing this sheet you are agreeing to play any one of
these three instruments. Also, be aware that a band is a team, and a team needs different
types of players. Not everyone can be the goal scorer or goalie.
