Description This course is designed to help students become more familiar with the styles and
techniques of business writing. The course is cognizant of the fact that effective writing plays an
increasingly important role in todays business world. Areas to be covered include but not limited to:
business documents such as letters, memos, minutes and reports with full explanations on usage,
language style and layout. In addition, punctuation and avoiding common mistakes will also be
covered.

General objective: To help students improve their knowledge on finding the right words, using an
appropriate style, respecting conventional formats and correct spelling in their writing.
Specific objectives:
By the end of the course, the student should be able to:

Use punctuation marks correctly

Effectively use numbers and quantities in business operations

Demonstrate good use of titles
