Compassion in Action

By: Kate Marie Eusala

Samtang gakabuhi ko, indi ko gid malipatan nga may nagbutwa sa
amon kahimtangan kag may nagpakita pagpalangga sa amon libo-ibo
gid nga pagpasalamat nga indi ko malipatan.
Those were the words of an emotional Mrs. Mondejar, mother to one of
Project Elishas sponsored children and a witness to Gods grace and
goodness. It was February 1, 2016 when fire raged the house of the
Mondejar family, burned most of their belongings and robbed them of their
home. It was a day marked with adversity. Not only were they stripped of
their material possessions, hope also seemed so far away.
But what seemed like a case of tragedy turned into a testament of
Gods faithfulness. Love and care came in the collective effort of Project
Elisha and the Bacolod City Alliance Church through monetary and nonmonetary assistance . Food supplies, clothing, kitchen utensils, and financial
support were extended to the Mondejar family to meet some of their
immediate needs. However, more than the tangible support, what touched
hearts were the prayers, encouragement, time, love, and compassion which
gave them hope despite lifes obstacles.
