1. A coil of resistance 5 and inductance 120 mH in series with a 100 F capacitor, is


connected to a 300 V, 50 Hz supply. Calculate the current flowing and draw the
impedance triangle of the circuit. Identify the dominant of the circuit.
a) Draw the selectivity curve and identify the resonance point.
b) List two (2) characteristics of a resonance.
2. A coil consists of a resistance of 100 and an inductance of 200 mH. If an alternating
voltage given by V = 200 sin 500t volts is applied across the coil, calculate:
i. the circuit impedance.
ii. the current flowing.
iii.
the voltage across the resistance and the inductance.
iv. the phase angle between voltage and current.
