Material: Schist Size: Height 51 cm Location: Karnak, Temple of Amun-Re, Courtyard of the Cachette Excavation: G. Legrain's Excavations of 1904 Period: 25th Dynasty (770-712 BC) This type of statue is normally referred to as a block statue because of the general shape that it takes. It was discovered, together with literally thousands of others, buried in the temple of Amun-Re at Karnak. Hor was a priest of Montu, and his genealogy is carved on this statue. From this, we learn that his family had been associated with priestly functions at Thebes for at least five generations.
