Personal Statement

My name is Anifaruzki Amalia, I graduated from Department of Mathematics


Teaching, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Jambi University, Indonesia. I
wrote a thesis entitled Analisis Pemahaman Siswa Berdasarkan Teori APOS ditinjau
dari Gaya Kognitif (Field Dependence dan Field Independence). This research
discusses about how student contruct their knowledge, it based on APOS Theory. It
also analysis the students based on her cognitive style.
I choose to take postgraduate in education because I believe the education is a vital
investment for human and economic development and is influenced by the
environment within which it exists. Therefore, to study Education especially
Teaching Mathematics, not only that it is necessary to be very precise to prepare
the qualified teachers in different educational settings, but it is also important to
develop professional working across learning context to lead learning communities.
Furthemore, I have aso attained many understanding during my study in Education
especially English Language Teaching such as language teaching curriculum
teaching methodology, research method, and teaching English for young learners.
Now, I am an English teacher in Singapore Indonesian School, South Sumatera,
Indonesia. I am teaching primary students for almost one year. My experiences in
teaching started when I was in undergraduate program and still continue until now.
Therefore, the total of teaching experience that I have is about five years.
I actively join many organizations during my study and also participate in national
and international conference. I am the founder of Laskar Junior Community and
responsible for program and project designing. This community aims to build
children character, skills and their multiple intelligences in early young age. Besides
that, my passion in education leads me to be active in conducting the research and
presenting them in international conference such as International Conference on
English Laguage Teaching (ICELT), Malaysia, 9 th Annual CanTESOL International
conference, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, !%th UNESCO-APEID International Conference,
Indonesia.
I am highly motivated to pursue my studies in Master of TESOL at Monash
University. By taking this course, I hope it provide me with a rewarding experience
in a lively intellectual and social community. In addition, it also extends my
professional opportunities and gain the competence and confidence to contribute to
the development of English language teaching in my local or wider context.
My career objective after completing my TESOL program is to return to Indonesia to
seek a lecturer position in one of university where I can apply what I have learned
from your TESOL program. I will join an academic association of English teaching. I
will consciously guide my English teaching with the specific TESOL principles to
make my practice effective and fruitful. Meanwhile, I will do extensive research work
to enrich the studies in English Language Teaching issue which is still lack of

concern in Indonesia I consider going to Australia because of its good education


development for English Language Teaching. The needs of Indonesia for teachers,
lecturers and researchers in education is very high, so the career opportunities to
work in various sectors of education wide open.
In Indonesia, qualified teachers or lecturers and researchers are still urgently
needed, especially in relation for the ASEAN Economic Community by 2015.
Therefore, I have the opportunity to be a career as a professional lecturer or
researcher.
