KS silicon exposing stones for the machining of

aluminium cylinder bores
Exposing strips with abrasive particles of
silicon carbide bound in a porous plastic
body. For mechanical exposure and
rounding of silicon crystals on ALUSIL
and LOKASIL cylinder walls. Using the
exposing strips guarantees ideal and safe
machining results.
Part no. 50 009 909
Honing stone dimensions LWD:
80 mm x 10 mm x 10 mm
Temperature-resistant up to max. 80C
It is only possible to attach the honing
stones onto a stone carrier by gluing.

Scope of supply:
2 exposing strips in a plastic box
Weight: approx. 60 g
Package size:
approx. 110 mm x 75 mm x 30 mm
The process of machining aluminium
cylinder bores and the necessary
machining parameters are described in
detail in the brochure Reconditioning
aluminium engine blocks
(part no. 50 003 04).

Note:
When machining, at least four of these
strips are required for each honing tool.
Commercially available honing oil can be
used as coolant and lubricant.

Attaching the KS exposing strips

It is not possible to clamp the soft and
porous exposing strips. The exposing
strips can only be attached by being
glued onto a stone carrier.
For gluing commercially available one
or two-pack adhesives that have
a su cient nal strength and are
chemically resistant to oils, acids and
bases are suitable.
Gluing the exposing strips and then
using a clamping system.

1. Adhesive
2. Exposing strip
3. Support plate
4. Locking screw
