Anointing Mass
First Reading: Philemon 7-20
A reading from the letter of St. Paul to Philemon:
Beloved:
I have experienced much joy and encouragement from your love,
because the hearts of the holy ones
have been refreshed by you, brother.
Therefore, although I have the full right in Christ
to order you to do what is proper,
I rather urge you out of love,
being as I am, Paul, an old man,
and now also a prisoner for Christ Jesus.
I urge you on behalf of my child Onesimus,
whose father I have become in my imprisonment,
who was once useless to you but is now useful to both you and me.
I am sending him, that is, my own heart, back to you.
I should have liked to retain him for myself,
so that he might serve me on your behalf
in my imprisonment for the Gospel,
but I did not want to do anything without your consent,
so that the good you do might not be forced but voluntary.
Perhaps this is why he was away from you for a while,
that you might have him back forever,
no longer as a slave but more than a slave, a brother,
beloved especially to me, but even more so to you,
as a man and in the Lord.
So if you regard me as a partner, welcome him as you would me.
And if he has done you any injustice
or owes you anything, charge it to me.
I, Paul, write this in my own hand: I will pay.
May I not tell you that you owe me your very self.
Yes, brother, may I profit from you in the Lord.
Refresh my heart in Christ.
L: The Word of the Lord.
R: Thanks be to God

Bible Enthronement
First Reading: Ecclesiastes 3:1-17
A Reading from the book of Ecclesiastes:
There is an appointed time for everything, and a time for every affair under
the heavens.
A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to uproot
the plant.
A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to tear down, and a time to build.
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance.
A time to scatter stones, and a time to gather them; a time to embrace, and
a time to be far from embraces.
A time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away.
A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to be silent, and a time to speak.
A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
What advantage has the worker from his toil?
I have considered the task which God has appointed for men to be busied
about.
He has made everything appropriate to its time, and has put the timeless
into their hearts, without men's ever discovering, from beginning to end,
the work which God has done.
I recognized that there is nothing better than to be glad and to do well
during life.
For every man, moreover, to eat and drink and enjoy the fruit of all his
labor is a gift of God.
I recognized that whatever God does will endure forever; there is no adding
to it, or taking from it. Thus has God done that he may be revered.
What now is has already been; what is to be, already is; and God restores
what would otherwise be displaced.
And still under the sun in the judgment place I saw wickedness, and in the
seat of justice, iniquity.
And I said to myself, both the just and the wicked God will judge, since
there is a time for every affair and on every work a judgment.
The Word of the Lord.
R: Thanks be to God.

Bible Enthronement
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms: 118:6-9, 24-29
Let our response be: This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and
be glad in it.
The Lord is with me; I am not afraid; what can mortals do against me? The
Lord is with me as my helper; I shall look in triumph on my foes.
(Response)
Better to take refuge in the Lord than to put ones trust in mortals. Better to
take refuge in the Lord than to put ones trust in princes. (Response)
This is the day the Lord has made: let us rejoice in it and be glad. Lord,
grant salvation. Lord, grant good fortune. (Response)
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. We bless you from the
Lords house. The Lord is God and has given us light. Join in procession
with leafy branches up to the horns of the altar. (Response)
You are my God I give you thanks; my God, I offer you praise. Give thanks
to the Lord, who is good, whose love endures forever. (Response)

Morning Worship
First Reading: Jeremiah 29: 11-14
A Reading from the book of the prophet Jeremiah:
For I know well the plans in mind for you, says the Lord, plans for your
welfare, not for woe! Plans to give you a future full of hope. When you call
me, when you go to pray to me, I will listen to you. When you look for me,
you will find me. Yes, when you seek for me with all your heart, you will
find me with you, says the Lord, and I will change your lot; I will gather you
together from all the nations and all the places to which I have banished
you, says the Lord, and bring you back to the place from which I have exiled
you.
L. The Word of the Lord.
R. Thanks be to God.

Morning Worship
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 139: 1-18
Let our response be: O LORD, you have probed me, you know me.
You know when I sit and stand; you understand my thoughts from afar.
My travels and my rest you mark; with all my ways you are familiar.
Even before a word is on my tongue, LORD, you know it all.
Behind and before you encircle me and rest your hand upon me.
(Response)
Such knowledge is beyond me, far too lofty for me to reach.
Where can I hide from your spirit? From your presence, where can I flee?
If I ascend to the heavens, you are there;
if I lie down in Sheol, you are there too. (Response)
If I fly with the wings of dawn and alight beyond the sea,
Even there your hand will guide me, your right hand hold me fast.
If I say, "Surely darkness shall hide me, and night shall be my light" -Darkness is not dark for you, and night shines as the day. Darkness and
light are but one. (Response)
You formed my inmost being; you knit me in my mother's womb.
I praise you, so wonderfully you made me; wonderful are your works! My
very self you knew; My bones were not hidden from you, When I was being
made in secret, fashioned as in the depths of the earth. Your eyes foresaw
my actions; in your book all are written down; my days were shaped, before
one came to be. (Response)
How precious to me are your designs, O God; how vast the sum of them!
Were I to count, they would outnumber the sands; to finish, I would need
eternity. (Response)

Morning Worship
Gospel: John 15: 9-17
L: A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to John:
R: Glory to You, O Lord
As the Father loves me, I so love you. Remain in my love. If you keep my
commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I kept my Fathers
commandments and remain in His love.
I have told you this so that my joy might be in you and your joy might be
complete. This is my commandment: love one another as I love you. No one
has greater love than this to lay down ones life for ones friends. You are
my friends if you do what I command you. I no longer call you slaves,
because a slave does not know what his master is doing. I have called you
friends, because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father.
It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go
and bear fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my
name He may give you. This I command you: love one another.
L: The Gospel of the Lord.
R: Praise to you, O Lord, Jesus Christ

Holy Mass
First Reading: 3 John 5-8
A reading from the third letter of St. John:
Beloved, you are faithful in all you do for the brothers and sisters,
especially for strangers;
they have testified to your love before the Church.
Please help them in a way worthy of God to continue their journey.
For they have set out for the sake of the Name
and are accepting nothing from the pagans.
Therefore, we ought to support such persons,
so that we may be co-workers in the truth.

Wealth and riches shall be in his house;
his generosity shall endure forever.
Light shines through the darkness for the upright;
he is gracious and merciful and just.

Twenty-ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Second Reading: 2 Timothy 3:7-12
A reading from the second letter of St. Paul to the Thessalonians:
Brothers and sisters:
You know how one must imitate us.
For we did not act in a disorderly way among you,
nor did we eat food received free from anyone.
On the contrary, in toil and drudgery, night and day
we worked, so as not to burden any of you.
Not that we do not have the right.
Rather, we wanted to present ourselves as a model for you,
so that you might imitate us.
In fact, when we were with you,
we instructed you that if anyone was unwilling to work,
neither should that one eat.
We hear that some are conducting themselves among you in a
disorderly way,
by not keeping busy but minding the business of others.
Such people we instruct and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to work quietly
and to eat their own food.
L. The Word of the Lord.
R. Thanks be to God.
Note to the reader: After reading, do not leave the ambo. The choir will sing the Alleluia
and you need to read the following sequence:

Stand erect and raise your heads

because your redemption is at hand.
