by step. It make other people can understand flow of the work has been done during the
project. This chapter explains the methodology undertaken to meet the objectives of this
project. This chapter explanation of the method of data collection, data processing in terms of
the hardware used, the processing software used to process the data and some of the
analytical methods used to analyze the data. Methodology may refer to anything more than a
simple set of rules or procedures, or it may refer to the rational and philosophical assumptions
underlying the particular study compared with the scientific method.

3.4 Data Processing

3.4.1 Digitizing data using MapInfo Pro
Digitizing is the process of converting geographic features on a paper map into digital
format. The feature attributes are also recorded during the digitizing process. It is the
most common and labor intensive method to create a spatial database. The method is
used especially when existing maps are available as the source of data. Coordinates of
point features, line features and polygon features are recorded by manually pointing
or tracing, using a digitizer table and cursor. The cursor position is accurately
measured, by the device in order to generate the coordinate data in digital form.
Although digitizing is substituted by scanning, digitizing tablets are still used to
convert existing maps and drawings into GIS.
