Production Method
Production in a Becomix Mini Lab RW 2,5:
Part A:
Heat up to 85C (without Keltrol, Carbopol and Titanium Dioxide) until all ingredients completely dissolved.
Transfer into the preheated Becomix, add Keltrol, Carbopol and Titanium Dioxide and homogenise.
(Heating 85 C, Stirrer 1 m/S, Homogeniser 10m/s; 4 min, Vacuum -0,8 bar)
Part B:
Heat on a hotplate to 85C. Add part B to part A via the funnel. Stir for 10 min at 85C. Then cool down to
65C and homogenise for 5 min.
(Heating 85 C, Stirrer 1 m/S, Vacuum -0,8 bar; Homogeniser 10m/s; 5 min)
Cool down to ambient temperature.
Part C:
At ambient temperature add part C and homogenise. Ventilate and remove the product with homogenising.
(Stirrer 1 m/S, Vacuum -0,8 bar, Homogeniser 10 m/s; 5 min, Homogeniser 2 m/s; 3 min).
The pH value of the finished product should be approx. 7.3 to 7.5 and has to be checked.
Preparation of the 30 % Neo Heliopan Hydro solution:
52.25 % Water, demineralised
17.75 % Triethanolamine
30.00 % Neo Heliopan Hydro (103089)
Dissolve two thirds of triethanolamine in water. Then add with stirring Neo Heliopan Hydro. Add the rest of
triethanolamine until the solution becomes clear. The pH value of the finished Neo Heliopan Hydro solution
should be 7.5 - 8.0 and has to be checked. For longer time of storage it is advisable to add preservatives (eg
Parabens) to the solution.
(For example: 6,67% of the 30 % Neo Heliopan Hydro solution neutralised with triethanolamine equals 2%
active.)

22.00% Neo Heliopan AP (106796)
approx. 10.50% Triethanolamine
Dissolve two thirds of triethanolamine in water. Then add with stirring Neo Heliopan AP. Slowly add the rest
of triethanolamine until the solution becomes clear. The pH value of the finished Neo Heliopan AP solution
should be 7.0 - 8.0 and has to be checked. If you don't need all triethanolamine complete to 100% with
water. For longer time of storage it is advisable to add preservatives (eg Parabens) to the solution.
(For example: 10% of the 22 % Neo Heliopan AP solution neutralised with triethanolamine equals 2,2%
active.)
*The SPF 43 was determined on a six-subject panel test based on the recommendation of the COLIPA
TASK FORCE "Sun Protection Measurement" (December 2005).
The product should be labelled SPF 40 (Colipa Recommendation No. 11 - SPF Classification / upper limlt,
COLIPA, June 2002)
**Water-Resistance:
An SPF of 27 was found after immersion using the method described by K. and A. Schrader: Akt. Dermatol.
20, 130-134, 1994.
