Questions
1. Tell me about your self ?
I am (or) Myself (Your Name), Having (No. of Years) of experience in
SQL server database administration in 24*7 production support
environment.
Currently working with IBM (Your company mentioned in the Resume).
Previously worked with Infosys (Your previous company mentioned in
the Resume).
About my education, I am a BE graduate (mention your education like
Bsc, MCA or BE) from XYZ University in the year XXX.
Currently we are providing 24*7 Database support for the client ABC
(need to mention the client from your current project).
My Day to Day responsibilities are resolving tickets (both incidents and
change request) which includes.
Installation, Configuration and Administration in different
versions like SQL Server 2012, 2008 R2, 2005.
Applying SQL Server patches, Cumulative packs and hot
fixes.
Verifying and resolving the SQL Server Blocking and Dead
lock issues and Finding and fixing the root cause
Resolving the Disk space issues and finding the root cause
and implementing the permanent fixes.
Taking Full, differential and log Backups and restoring them
when required
Refreshing the Test Databases from Production Data on need
basis for Testing purpose.
Performing security activities like Creating logins, adding
the users and managing the permissions.
Creating and scheduling the jobs and troubleshooting
the failed jobs.
Performing
Database
Maintenance
Activities
like
rebuilding/reorganizing
indexes,
update
statistics,
checking database integrity and clean up history on
regular intervals.
Resolving Space Management issues like TempDB contention,
Data and log file space issues.
Configuring and Troubleshooting high availability solutions
like Log Shipping, Database Mirroring and Replication.
Performing the Cluster installation and adding the nodes
in
the
respective
servers
in
SQL
Server
2000,2005,2008R2
Performing the Failover and Failback operations in the
cluster environment and adding the new Disks and

troubleshooting activities.

2. What level of support you are working ?


Exp < 4 Years - Level 1 and Level 2
Exp > 4 Years - Level 2 and Level 3 .
Level1 : Means basic level of activities like Installations, Monitoring,
reporting etc.
Level 2: Back up restores, blocking, dead locks, indexes, log shipping and
mirroring.
Level3: Escalations from Level2, Client interactions, High availability
activities like replication and clustering.
3. Which Company you are working currently ?
You need to Tell the company name from Your resume.
Ex: IBM
4. Are you a Permanent Employee?
No, I am contract employee.
5. Why are you looking for change?
Any one of the following...
o My contract is getting over by end of this or next month. So looking for
new job.
o My project is completed and I am on bench, so looking for new job.
o My project is stable and there is no technical growth, and I am looking
for challenging work where I can improve my technical skills.
6. What is your Parent or Pay roll company?
You need to tell the Consultancy Name that we give.
Ex: I-Tech
7. What is your Current Salary or CTC or Package ?
Gross salary from your latest Hike letter that we give.
8. What is your Monthly Take home?
Take home monthly salary after all deduction, that you can find from
the latest month pay slip that we give.
9. What is your Expected Salary or CTC or Package?
30 % Hike on your current salary (from latest hike letter), calculate and
tell in a value instead of %.

How soon you can join, if Offered ?
My official notice period is 30 days, but I can join in 10 to 15 days.

How you can join in 15 days? Any reason ? Explain?
My Current project is completed and I have few Un availed leaves and
I have good relationship with my manager. So I can manage to join in 10-15
days. But I will confirm once I discuss with my manager.

Are you ready to relocate to Pune or Mumbai or Delhi or any
other location?
Yes, I am.

Any particular reason for relocation?


I have my brother or some relative in Delhi and I am a bachelor and I
do not have any concerns with the location.

What is your salary payment method ? Cash or Cheque or
Salary Account?
Salary Account.

Which bank account that you are using?
Tell Any corporate bank (HDFC, ICICI, CITI, AXIX or KOTAK).

Are you able to provide bank statements or Form 16 or salary

Yes.

You can send, there will be no issues.

Can you provide the current company mail id ?


As per company policy, contract employees will not have the company
email id. We will use ticketing tool and common group mail box to
handle the production issues and communications.
We mostly work on the ticketing tool and ticketing tool is the interface
between the requester and support team. We get the tickets in the tool
and we update the ticket tool with the status on the ticket.
If you want I can provide the parent company mail id and HR Details.

Note:
The People who call you at initial stage for scheduling interview are from HR
team (They will have 0 Technical knowledge). They will assess your
communication skills and your confident levels. You just need to talk very
confidently with them. You don't need to worry about technical things.
I have covered most of the questions that they will ask... I hope this
will help you to handle screening and HR discussions.
