Inspection Status
The Inspection Status area displays the current status of the inspection. Possible statuses
include the following:
Capturing Image
The system is scanning an area of the panel for display in an image view.
EMO or Door Open
The operator has pushed the Emergency Stop button or opened the top cover. The SE 300
system conveyor stops and releases the current panel.
Finishing Inspection
The system is waiting for the inspection of the current panel to finish before it pauses or
stops.
Homing
The SE 300 system is moving stages to the starting (home) position in preparation for
inspection.
Illuminating Fiducial
The system is adjusting the fiducial illumination according to the settings selected in the
fiducial view.
Inspecting
The system is in the process of inspecting a panel.
Loading
The system is positioning a panel for inspection.
Pass-Through
The system is passing panels through the system without inspecting them.
Quilting
The system is scanning a panel to create an image of the whole panel. The resulting
quilted image combines the individual field-of-view images taken by the system's
sensors.
Reference Scan
The system determines the height of the surface of the panel. This value is a reference
point for all measurements on the panel.

Chapter 1: Overview
Releasing Panel
The system has completed the inspection of the panel and is ready to send it to the
downstream machine.
Stopped
The system has interrupted the inspection because the operator clicked
resume the inspection.

Initialized
The system startup process is complete and the SE 300 System is ready for inspection.
Uninitialized
The system has not processed the startup routines and is not ready for inspection.
Dark Current Compensation
The system is calibrating the sensor for light sensitivity. The SE 300 System performs a
partial calibration each time a panel is loaded, and a full dark current compensation
(DCC) as directed by the configuration file, typically every 30 minutes.
Note: SRFF files used with the SE 300 Inspection must be set up to automatically stop at the
end of an inspection, capture images, and open Defect Review. These settings are made to the
SRFF file using the Teach application.

The Defect List shows failed locations on the panel. Click a location to expand the list of
individual feature failures.
Each defect is categorized as high, low, or registration. These defect categories are represented
by the following icons.
High
Paste height, volume, or area are too high.
Low
Paste height, volume, or area are too low.
Registration
Registration, bridging, or boundary violation.
If a defect has more high categories than low, the high icon displays.
If a defect has more low categories than high, the low icon displays.
3D Shaded Image
The 3D Shaded Image uses a shaded perspective image and color variations to show the paste
shape. A color key in the lower left portion of the window correlates the colors in the image
with paste height. The color key automatically scales to the paste heights found in the current
field of view. The transparent cube covering the selected feature shows the optimum paste
coverage.

Volume: Measured volume, target volume, low fail, and high fail.
Area: Measured area, target area, low fail, and high fail.
Registration: Shows registration (short and long) as a percentage of the target registration
limit. The terms short and long refer to the short and long sides of a pad.

Graphical View
The Graphical View shows the following results in a bar graph:
Registration: Shows the measured registration (short and long) as a percentage of the
target registration.
Note: If a value has not been set for target, low fail, high fail, or percent limit, the message N/A
is displayed in place of the value. If no tolerances are set, the color shows green for Pass.

When adding C-Charts, Trend Charts, U-Charts, and X-Bar Charts, a SRFF file must be open to
create charts for board, location, and feature-specific data. Charts with panel-level data remain
after closing the SRFF file and opening a new SRFF file. A height histogram chart is available
by default.
Board, location, and feature-level charts display only when the SRFF file to which they were
added is open. Panel-level charts are available for all SRFF files.
Up to 20 charts may be added to each SRFF file. A total of up to 2000 sites (features, locations,
boards) may be selected for all charts.

C-Chart
C-charts plot the actual number of failures (defects) per panel, board, or location over a
specified time interval or number of panels.
Use the C-chart to track the number of defects found at the selected site or sites. Increasing
values on the C-chart indicate that the process is moving out of tolerance and toward an out of
control condition. The C-chart is preferred over the U-chart when the number of selected
features does not change.
Sample C-Chart
To add a C-chart
1. Right-click in the SPC Charts area and then click Add Chart.
2. Select CChart, and click Next.
3. Select the Site Level: Panel, Board, or Location.
4. Click Next.
5. Select the Attribute Type to specify the type of defect to monitor. The options vary
depending on the selected site level. Click Next.

the limits. The default is 1.

Renaming a chart may be useful when changing one of the other properties, such as Site Level,
which identify the chart and indicate its purpose.

37
Trend Chart
Trend charts show measurement data taken over time. They can display trends by average,
range, or standard deviation over the features included in the site selection. Trend charts can
show measurement data taken over the most recent number of panels or over a specified
period.
Use the Trend chart to monitor the inspection process for trends toward the tolerance values.
Trend charts are similar to X-bar charts since they graph a measured variable over a specified
period.

CyberOptics Corporation
39
U-Chart
The U-chart plots the percentage of defects for selected sites, such as a paste defect, over a
specified period.
Like the C chart, the U-chart tracks changes in the defects found over time. The difference
between the two is that the U-chart shows results as a percentage of the set of features.
Increasing values on the U-chart indicate that the process is moving out of tolerance and
toward an out of control condition.
The U-chart is preferred over the C-chart when the number of features changes. For example,
comparing the number of panel-level defects between two different panels is easier with the
U-chart because the U-chart is scaled to the number possible features on each panel.
One point on a U-chart represents the average defect percentage on each panel, board, or
location in the subgroup. For example, if there are ten features in a subgroup and an average
of one defect in the subgroup, the U value is 10.0. This value represents an average of 10
percent defects for each panel, board, or location in the subgroup.
Sample U-Chart
To add a U-Chart
1. Right-click in the SPC Charts area, and then click Add Chart.

CyberOptics Corporation
41
X-Bar Chart
X-bar charts plot the average measurements (X-bar) that indicate the trend of the process.
Control limits are calculated and displayed as horizontal bars on the chart. When the
measurements remain within the control limits, the process is considered to be in control.
Use X-bar charts to monitor a process. These charts provide a visual indication of when a
process in control and also show when a process is on the verge of going out of control. The
control limits are calculated from the data and are shown by the red horizontal lines on the
chart.
