major Iranian state-owned company has told its single employees
to get married by September or face losing their jobs, the press
reported on Tuesday.
“One of the economic entities in the south of the country has
asked its single employees to start creating a family,” the hardline Kay-
han daily reported.
The paper did not mention the name of the company but the reformist
Etemad newspaper said that the firm is the Pars Special Economic Ener-
gy Zone Company – which covers Iran’s giant gas and petrochemical
facilities on the shores of the Gulf.
“Unfortunately some of our colleagues did not fulfil their commit-
ments and are still single,” Etemad quoted the company’s directive as
saying.
“As being married is one of the criteria of employment, we are an-
nouncing for the last time that all the female and male colleagues have
until September 21 to go ahead with this important and moral religious
duty.”
Sexual relations outside of marriage are illegal in Iran – for the most
part a traditional society where young people normally are encouraged
by their families to marry in their 20s and swiftly bear children. The
directive – signed by the head of security of the “Pars Special Economic
Energy Zone” – also used some of sayings (hadith) of the Muslim Proph-

Will Smith’s fake slap turns
real for Charlize Theron
Hollywood superstar Will Smith left actress
Charlize Theron shocked when he slapped her for
real on the set of new movie ‘Hancock’, rather than
pretend to hit her. A scene in the forthcoming
superhero film requires Smith to slap Theron.
Theron claims that it was while performing the
same scene that Smith actually hit her. She even
revealed that Smith was not ready to accept that
his slap was a real one. “He tried to fake slap me
one time, but the fake one just didn’t happen.
We’re still debating this one. I think he just hit me!
But Will claims I leaned into his hand and that’s
how it happened. I was so shocked! I was like, He
just slapped me!” Contactmusic quoted her as
saying.
“But he said, I did not slap you. I had my hand
there and you turned into it,” she added. Theron,
however, insisted that the incident did not sour
their relationship. “We’re just like kids, it’s so much
fun. He’s not a woman beater!” she said. ■

hen Andrea McMillan was heading to
Cuba for her beach-marriage, she
might not have heard the phrase: ‘One
can find true love anywhere and any-
time’.
For that’s what happened with her when she
met barman Jose Miguel at her wedding and
cupid struck.
The 34-year-old dumped her newly-wedded
husband for the man she felt “love at first sight.”
After she married Carl Taylor, 30, in a 4,000
pounds wedding ceremony and flew back home
to the UK, love-struck Andrea ditched her hus-
band and went back to Cuban capital Havana to
be reunited with Jose weeks later.
And now, the couple is set to tie the knot next
month near the four-star hotel in Holguin
where Andrea and Carl tied the knot and Jose
handled the bar.
Narrating her made in heaven union, Andrea
insisted that she was a reluctant bride and was
under many doubts the night before she mar-
ried Carl.
“I cried myself to sleep. I had to down a few
pina coladas to go through with it. I told Carl I
didn’t want to marry him but he said it was
pre-wedding nerves. Our friends had saved to Clothes sponsored by: Navigator,
