TutorialArcFlashHazardAnalysis

ThistutorialdemonstrateshowtouseseveralofEasyPowersarclashanalysisfeatures.EasyPowerArcFlashisintegrated
withtheprogramsshortcircuitanalysisfeature,sotheinterfacesaresimilar.

ShortCircuitFocus
Toperformanarclashanalysis,youmustbeintheShortCircuitfocus.
1.FromtheFilemenu,clickOpenFile.
Tip:IfyouareviewingtheStartPage,youcanclickOpenOnelineinstead.
2.OpentheProtection1.dezileinyourSamplesdirectory.
3.Click

Maximizeontheonelinewindow,ifneeded,toillthesessionwindowwiththeoneline.

Amoredetailedsetofarclashresultsisprovidedforthearcingfault.Theresultsonthedownstreamfeeder
breakersrepresentthehazardsonewouldincurwhenworkingjustdownstreamofthosebreakers.

YoucanprintarclashlabelsfromtheArcFlashHazardReport.RightclickonaspreadsheetrowandselecteitherPrint
LabelforSelectedDeviceorPrintLabelforAllDevices.
Note:ThisfeatureisnotavailableintheDemoversionofEasyPower.
Forfurtherdetailsregardingarclashhazardlabelsincludinglabelprintingoptionsandcustomizablelabeloptions,referto
the"ArcFlashHazardAnalysis"topicinHelp.

CreatingEnergizedElectricalWorkPermits
Youcancreateaworkpermit,asfollows:
1.Closethearclashhazardlabelifitisstillopen.
2.Ontheoneline,rightclickonSWG4andselectArcFlashWorkPermit.
3.IntheWorkTaskDialog,selecttheWorkonLivePartscheckbox,andthenclickOK.
EasyPoweropensMicrosoftWordanddisplaysaworkpermitwithdatabasedoncalculatedarclashhazardsandthe
selectedworktask.
Note:IntheDemoversion,youcannotselectaworktask,andonlyasampleworkpermitiscreated.

Someitemstonote:
WorkpermitscanbequicklycreatedforeachbusinEasyPower.Youcanautomaticallycreateahyperlinkforthe
workpermitandassociateitwiththeequipmentitembyselectingthecheckboxintheWorkTaskDialog.The
hyperlinkisavailableintheequipment'sdatadialogboxontheHyperlinkstab.
Youcancustomizetheworkpermittemplate.ThedefaulttemplateisnamedWPTemplate.docxandcanbemodiied
usingMicrosoftWord.Youcancreateacustomtemplatewithanewname,ifdesired,andspecifythenewtemplatein
Tools>Options>FileLocations.See"EditingWorkPermits"inHelpformoreinformation.
YoucancustomizetheWorkTaskDialoginformationbymodifyingtheStdlib.mdblibraryinEasyPower.

CoordinationIntegration
Toperformcoordinationintegration,dothefollowing:
1.Closetheworkpermittemplateifitisstillopen.
2.Click

Coordination.

3.Click

SCOptions,andselecttheArcFlashHazardtab.

4.InArcFlashHazardOptions,underWorstCaseArcFlashHazards,changeOutputtoIncludingMain,andthen
clickOK.
5.Click
OpenTCC.IntheOpenTCCdialogbox,selectTCC1andthenclickOpen.Youcanmaximizethewindow,if
needed.
6.Click

ArcFlash.ThearclashresultsappearontheTCConeline.

7.DragtheshorttimedelayofthepurpleBL1SSTcurve(ontheright)upanddown.

8.Observethatthearclashresultsautomaticallyupdateatthelowersectionoftheoneline.Thisprovidesauseful
demonstrationoftheinluencethatthesettingsofprotectivedeviceshaveonarclashhazards.

changes,thebasecaseisupdated.

them.ClickNofornow.
2.DoubleclickSWG4.IntheBusDatadialogbox,selecttheArcFlashHazardtab.
3.IntheTripTimesforthisBuslist,selectUserDeinedTimes.
4.Fillinthedeviceclearingtimes.Uptofourdeviceclearingtimescanbeuserspeciiedforeachbus.
5.ClickOKtosaveyourchanges.
