IS THERE MORE TO LIFE?

John 10:10 Jesus said, I am come that they might have a

life, and that they might have it to OVERFLOWING.
Life is Three Parts
The Christian doctrine of immortality cannot be understood apart from
the right conception of the tripartite nature of men. Many think that
man is a physical being only. There is a great danger of any man
thinking thus of himself. In his desire to satisfy the needs of the body
there is the tendency on mans part to lose sight of the fact that he is
immortal. There have been persons who have lived all of their lives
either in ignorance or willful neglect of a life after death, but upon their
death-bed they suddenly realized that they were more than physical
beings.
There is an idea also that prevails largely today that man consists of
only two component parts: namely, body and spirit. In the thinking of
the writer this view appears to be one that might create confusion in
the minds of any Christians. While soul and spirit are so closely related
that it is sometimes difficult to distinguish accurately between them,
there seems to be only one logical conclusion: namely, that soul and
spirit are not the same. The Bible does make a distinction.
Man is a triune being because he is created in the image of God. God
said, Let us make man in Our image (Genesis 1:26).
We know that God is a Trinity. The Holy Trinity is clearly set forth in the
Apostle Pauls benediction that closed his Second Corinthian
Epistle: The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and
the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen (2
Corinthians 13:14).
Our Lord Himself said, in what we call The Great Commission: Go ye
therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost (Matthew 28:19).
Created in the image of God, man is likewise a trinity. He has a spiritual
nature that is separate and distinct from the body in which it dwells.
The two following passages from the Bible clearly establish the
fact that man is a triune being composed of spirit, soul, and
body:
I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless
unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Thessalonians 5:23).

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two
edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit,
and of the joints and marrow (body), and is a discerner of the thoughts
and intents of the heart (Hebrews 4:12).
The threefold nature of man might be illustrated in several
ways. Dr. Clarence Larkin uses three circles (Rightly Dividing
The Word, page 86).
The outer circle stands for the body of man,
The middle circle for the soul, and
The inner for the spirit. At this point it will be well to quote a portion
from Dr. Larkins book:
In the outer circle the Body is shown as touching the Material
world through the five senses of Sight, Smell, Hearing,
Taste and Touch.
The Gates to the Soul are Imagination, Conscience,
Memory, Reason and the Affections.
The Spirit receives impressions of outward and material
things through the soul. The spiritual faculties of the Spirit
are Faith, Hope, Reverence, Prayer and Worship.
When, Jesus said, I come that you might have life
Speaks of the threefold nature of man, which is, Body, Soul,
and Spirit.

Question? Is there more to life?

You can never say that you are living when all your concerns
are only focused on your body (family, fame, fortune, and fun.)
11 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life
is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have
the Son of God does not have life.
13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of
God so that you may know that you have eternal life. 1 John 5: 11-13
THREE GIFTS GOD GIVES ME WHEN I TRUST CHRIST

1. Eternal life. When I open my life to Jesus Christ, instantly

I'm given eternal life. "The wages of sin is death but the free gift of
God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." I never have to worry
about my future, I know I'm going to heaven. It's solid. It's secure.
2. His Spirit. The moment I give my life to Jesus Christ, God
gives His Spirit to me to live inside me. The Bible says God has given
us His Spirit to fill our hearts with His love. And He'll never leave you
and you'll never be alone. God is with you from every point on after
you give your life to Christ. The Holy Spirit is in your life.
Most of you know about those two gifts -- the gift of eternal life and the
gift of God's Spirit in you. There's a third gift God gives you the
moment you give your life to Christ.
3. A special ability to use for His purpose. Romans 12:6
"God has given each of us the ability to do certain things well." New
English "The gifts we possess differ as they are allotted to us by God's
grace, and must be exercised accordingly."
When you are saved, when you become a believer, a follower of
Jesus Christ, God gives you a brand new purpose for living, a new life
purpose. And He never asks you to do something that He doesn't give
you the ability to do. So when He gives you a new life purpose, He also,
at the point of salvation, gives you a special gift or gifts to fulfill that
purpose.
The Bible has a lot to say about spiritual gifts. There are at least
twenty of them listed in Scripture. We couldn't even define them all in
the time allotted. The Bible says that every Christian gets at least one
gift. It's different from a natural ability. Everybody has natural
abilities. But only believers have spiritual gifts.
When you were born physically, you were given some physical gifts by
God. Hear, taste, touch, sight, smell... God gives you physical gifts
when you are physically born.
When you're born again -- when you're spiritually born -- God gives you
some spiritual abilities to serve Him. Every believer has at least
one. They are given to you at the moment of salvation. God gives
them sovereignly. That means He chooses which ones you're going to
get -- you don't choose. They're given by grace -- you don't earn the
gift. It's just God's free gift to you.
There's several lists of them in the Bible. I don't think they're
exhaustive. I think they're exemplary. I think the list is much larger
than the number that's actually mentioned. I think they're just

examples in Scripture. Any time you're serving God and you're doing it
well and you're doing it in enjoyment, you're demonstrating
giftedness.
4. Fulfillment here and now. Because you were made to impact the
lives of the people around you for all eternity.
Conclusion: There was a story in the Bible about the man name
Zachaeus.[Zacchaeus the Tax Collector ] Jesus entered Jericho and was
passing through. A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a
chief tax collector and was wealthy. He wanted to see who Jesus was,
but because he was short he could not see over the crowd. ...Luke
19:1-10
In Gods economy there is no such thing as coincidence, everything
happens for a reason.
