Statement of Purpose

The notion of pursuing Masters started when I joined INFOSYS, one of the prominent IT
Services Company of India, and got a chance to be a part of Business Platforms Unit.
Developing and implementing solution for capturing Secondary Sales data helped me understand
the importance of data management and the various analytics that can be performed on it. My
interest in programming combined with the interest in Data Management and Analysis kindled
my passion to explore further in these fields.
Ever Since my childhood I am a kind of person who is always ready to learn new things to enrich
my knowledge. In my high school, a love for learning which came with no pressure attached, but
fun to learn was instilled in me. After my high school, I felt engineering would be the area,
which would give me the opportunity to learn and explore how the fundamentals of science are
applied to create the technology for practical and real purposes. I decided to pursue my under
graduation in the field of Electronics and Communications to understand how the hardware is
linked with the software. In the four years of under graduation, I excelled in every subject and
lab course that involved programming and my skills were nurtured by these subjects.
In order to explore practical implementations of concepts, I have worked on projects such as
DIGITAL OBJECT COUNTER (Third year) and 'FACE RECOGNITION SYSTEM' using
MATLAB (final year). In my final year project, my roles were team leader and programmer. I
used my programming skills efficiently while working on it. During the four years of under
graduation, I learnt certain core areas of computer science and scored 100% in courses such as
Computer Organization etc. where I gained rudimentary knowledge as a foundation good enough
to pursue my Masters in Computer Science Apart from this I have attended workshops on
Robotics, gave technical presentations and have won various accolades for the same. My
perseverance and dedication to excel in both academics and extracurricular activities helped me
to get my degree with second position in my college .I always looked at myself as a programmer
with a better understanding of how the hardware part works for which I have chosen to work for
Infosys as a Systems Engineer.
During training in Infosys, I mastered the Object Oriented Programming, DBMS and Software
Engineering concepts and developed an application INFY TOURS AND TRAVELS using
JAVA Technology and MYSQL. Based on my analytical and technical skills I scored a CGPA
4.6 out of 5 in my Infosys Training. In Infosys, I worked on various offerings of the Infosys
Trade-Edge platform. I have worked on offering named VIRTUAL STORE CONNECT, an
application intended for a retailer to place the order through mobile instead of waiting for
distributor to ferry at his location. As a part of support team, Database Administration was done
by me using SQL Server. Working with SQL server management studio Tool made me familiar
with database objects like views, stored procedures etc. Currently I am working for KRAFT
PR project where I got an opportunity to work thoroughly on SQL Server and Postgres. For

this project, Data acquisition is done where in the secondary sales data of CPG Company is
captured after being validated. This data is then available for Data Analysis and Trend
Monitoring by Business Users. As a part of both projects I have acquired a better understating of
Database Administration, Data Consistency Checks and Business Reporting. This interest in
Data and Knowledge Management paved a way for me to decide Database Analytics track in
graduate studies.
Besides my quest for academic excellence, I have always been very enthusiastic to organize
events. I worked as an ECE Association member for two years and organized more than 25
events as a part of AVANTGARDE Events conducted by Department of Electronics and
Communication Engineering. I had volunteered and participated in the Entrepreneurship
Awareness Camp in 2010. I was elected as class Representative and worked effectively. I am
interested in badminton and won third prize in Intra College Badminton Competitions in 2011. I
won first Prize in advertisement enacting at college level. Prestigious SPIRIT AWARD
presented to me in 2012 for putting an exceptional effort in extracurricular activities in addition
to excelling in academics for all the four years of under graduation, filled enthusiasm in me to
move forward in my career.
I wish to introduce myself as a prospective student aspiring to pursue my Masters in the field of
Computer Science at University of Houston. I would like to get an International dimension to my
education from one of the leading centers of academic excellence. The eminent faculty, huge
resources and alumni work are amazing at University of Houston, to say the least. I take this
opportunity as a challenge to prove myself and I will work hard to meet the standards set by
University of Houston. I believe that a graduate study will provide me invaluable experiences
and skills that will allow me to become a successful, innovative professional.
I write to you with the earnest that my background, academics and my relevant work experience
is suitable to the famous Masters program in Computer Science in your esteemed university. I
