ANALYSIS
A.

POETRY

1. Letter to Pedro, US Navy also called Pete by Rene Estrella

Amper
The poem tells about how friendship must be. True friend never
use sugar-coating words to make you feel better. The letter
writer simply states the fact and the truth. He tells Pedro about
the changes in their hometown, the past playground---they
used to play around, about the storm that blew away the
cornfields, the cat named Simeona that they just buried at the
foot of Miguel's mango tree, but the sender accordingly cannot
find it anymore, also about Pedro's cousin, Julia. The farmers,
etc. The letter writer is honest and without hesitatingly wrote
what is his feeling towards what he has written over the letter.
Usually, when the other one is absent, there is commonly a
gradual changes in our heart or feelings about our friend/s. But
the letter writer as well as Pedro still have their intact,
continuous, and constant connection and relationship with
each other.

And that I realized, no matter how far you are from each other,
remember, whenever you will be seeing each other, it feels like
home, there's a nostalgic feeling and it's overwhelming.

2. Soledad
The poem is a mind-stirring and a heart-breaking one.
Sacrilege. This term imposes an illegal and unbecoming
phenomenon. Upon and while reading this poem I imagined a
girl. A girl who is from a high lineage. Which I have understood
from: one so carved from pride and glassed in dream. Such a
metaphorical statement. What I have understood, the girl
engaged to an incest scandal with this man. Which made the
people cried or howl and obstreperous noise, knowing that this
woman is from a highly profiled family. Meaning they are
known.
The writer stresses about how society react to this kind of
situation. I agree that it is an unreligiously doing but does it
need to accuse this woman a death? No one is perfect. Everyone
does a bad deed.

Moreover, I realized that her family also didn't protect her.

Maybe because her relatives ashamed her to what she had
done. Especially, they are known and reach.
On the other side of me, it can also be meant that whether and
whoever you if you did such an unbecoming scandal you must
be punished. I mean, everyone must be equal.
Finally, I felt deep sorrow. Because why she has to undergo
such as this situation? she is just in love but it turned out that
she is being out of love. Nevertheless, I realized that we shall
not do or involve such as this kind of situation (as much as
possible), because we know what is right and wrong. And if you
do not know anything: Read. Ask. Learn. Apply. And never
forget God.

ESSAY

1. Will of the river

I was reminded of many a life that stopped short of its great

end just because it lacked the power of will to push through
hindrances.
Life is full of obstacles. That is one of the lessons I have
learned from reading this article. I love how it blends and
compares the nature to life, the meaning of it is great and valuable.
Life is like a river. Somehow. For some people. For some time.
River produces water from its source. And that sources is cannot
be seen because it's from God. Such a mysterious and spiritually
truth. River does not only flows to where it goes, it helps the
creations of God. The plants or trees, animals, the human, etc.
Just like an individual, it's purpose is not only to be humane or
just be a human to fulfill his only need, he is created to be an
instrument of everything, a blessing, to help others, and many
more.
I learned that everything you do, you must have a source of
strength. Being lacked of it you cannot fulfill what you want and
need. you must be strong like a river superbly flows to where its
destination or goals. So as the life and people.

But if his spirit is impelled and nourished by an inexhaustible

power he will in spite of all obstructions, finish his course, if not in
the glory of dazzling achievement, at least in the nobility of a
completed task faithfully done.
We must be strong enough to overcome the challenges in our
lives or obstacles, so if not we will under come them.

CONCLUSION (Relate the message to your personal life)

Every now and then I always have this so called realization. It is for
me to know what I did wrong and how I made something good. I thank
God for everything whether it's good and challenging. There's no such

thing as bad because whatever we have now; an obstacle to pass

through it always bring us good result and lesson.
Reading those poems, drama, and essays is really has a huge impact
to me. Because I have learned much from it, I realized something. Like
we should not do things that can harm us, we should be consistent,
strong and determined to our good goals. And as a person and friend,
I shall take of my pals, love them, care them even though we're apart
from each other; keeping the relationship good just like the river flows
beautifully even there are obstacle along, it really pursues to what it
mean and aim.
My life is not perfect, but I'm doing my best to do everything I can and
the best of my ability because I have goals. There were many
circumstances that really challenged me. I, sometimes thought of
giving up because of the fear and lack of determination to do so. But
what I have observed and realized, I actually didn't cease. Because I
just took my rest and as I gain strength I continued to fight; and
grateful to overcome them. Meaning, it's not because I don't know
what to do, or I cannot do it, so I shall give up. No. It's just that I'm
tired. And as I am motivated that's the time I stand up and ready to
travel along with these obstacles.

I conclude, life is vast, and deceiving. It composed of the people,

things around us, and pleasure. So one must be tough, and never let
oneself to be drowned and poisoned of the earthly matter.
