Teaching Objectives
As a future educator in an Elementary School, I strive to be the best role model for my students. I want to
guide my students in the path of an even better model and not necessarily guide them to become like me.
I want students to discover themselves through my classroom experience and from their peers. With this
being said, I want to be able to create educational and engaging lesson plan to use within the classroom.
Whether its the use of technology or group work, I want to incorporate engaging devices thatll engage
my students and allow for them to strive to learn. Another objective I want to achieve Is proper and fair
assessment of my students that will allow for their parents and themselves to further understand the
students strengths and weaknesses and we can build on that. Lastly, I want to be able to work
professionally and cooperatively with other educators within the school and district to further my
experience as an educator.

Mount Royal University Assigned Placements & Practicums

Practicum 1 Nellie McClung School [Grade 4/5]

Fall 2014 [5 weeks]

In my very first practicum, I had the opportunity to work with approximately 100 grade 4 and 5 students in
a junior high like setting. Throughout the five weeks, I was able to grow as an educator through the
following ways: lesson planning, facilitating engaging lessons, creating rubrics and checklists, assessing
student work, but most importantly, teaching with energy and positivity.
Practica Cedarbrae School [Grade 2]
March]

Winter 2014 [January to

My fourth practica was in a Grade 2/3 classroom. This practica allowed me to do guided reading groups
with several students ranging from levels E to I.
Practica Chinook Park School [CSSI Program]

Fall 2013 [September to December]

My third practica was in an autistic class of five students. This practica allowed me to work with children
with special needs. My communication skills grew when working in this classroom because I had to
communicate with the students and try to get them to communicate with me. I learned the role of
technology within the classroom and how it enabled the students to learn yet still be engaged. By working
with my mentor teacher and her education assistants, I learned a lot about autism and how to teach in the
CSSI program.

Practica Prince of Wales School [Grade 1]

Winter 2013 [January to June]

My second practica was in a grade one classroom with a first-year teacher. She was very helpful in
directing and teaching me her teaching techniques. Within the classroom, I would work with students with
different activities. During snack time, I would supervise students and insure that they were behaving and
eating their snack. Furthermore, I would direct the morning routine in the case that my mentor teacher had
to deal with a behavioral student. I gained a lot of experience at Prince of Wales School especially because
I volunteered after the semester ended and being there for full days once a week.
Practica Woodbine School [Grade 2]

Fall 2012 [September to December]

This being my first practica, I was introduced to a grade 2 classroom with a great mentor teacher. In the
classroom, I would help students with various activities in different subject areas. As well, I would take
groups aside for reading and math help. I learned to work with students in a professional matter and tried
my best to build a teacher-student relationship in the four months in the classroom.

December 2010 - Present

As a Dietary Aide (Also known as Dining Room Server), our responsibilities were to tend to the needs of the

changing meals or having a little discussion. Patience is a key asset for this role and it contributes to my
ability to be patient at work and with children. Furthermore, this role requires a people-person in order to
converse and make the senior residents feel at home. Other tasks involved cleaning and resetting the
dining room after meals and insuring the server stations were sanitized and in order.

right. In the case that a resident was unwell, it was my job to call for help (whether it is paramedics,

Furthermore, this job requires a person who is very bubbly and can make a resident feel at home. This
contributes to my experience when dealing with children because it strengthens my personality.
