Planned Parenthood Received $657 Million in US

Taxpayer Money Over Last 7 Years to slaughter
innocent babies in the womb:

Over the seven year period studied in the report, Planned Parenthood received $657.1 million in tax
dollars; Population Council received $284.3 million, the Guttmacher Institute received $12.7
million, Advocates for Youth received $8.7 million, and the International Planned Parenthood
Federation received $3.9 million.

All in all, $966.7 million tax dollars went to encouraging a practice a plurality of Americans finds
morally wrong: murder in the womb.

"This year is an election year, and too many people still think that religion and politics dont mix.
But with so many public servants failing to tell the difference between serving the public and killing
the public, religion is more important than ever to clarify what does and does not belong to the
common good.

If a politician cannot respect the life of a little baby in the womb, how can he or she respect your
life or mine?

The message of the pro-life movement is not that abortion is the only issue. Rather, the message is
that if we fail to protect any segment of the human family, as we now fail to protect the unborn, we
have taken away the basis for protecting everyone else. Its time to vote pro-life."

++ Fr. Frank Pavone

"Suppose we were to find out that over a quarter of the nation's grandparents are killed each year by
their teenaged grandchildren, usually through deliberate dismemberment. Wouldn't responses such
as "This is murder!" somehow understate the matter? Wouldn't this response be even more
inadequate if grandparent-killing had been declared to be a constitutional right?

Yet such a reaction to the current right to kill unborn children throughout pregnancy is about as
hard-hitting as one can find in most pro-life writing. We need to say more. Words such as "Murder"
inadequately express the full horror of abortion, just as they would be insufficient as expressions of
our shock at the mutilation of grandparents.

The main linguistic problem is that the word "Murder" conjures up only a single lethal act against
an adult stranger. When a murder is particularly horrific in technique or circumstance, we append
adjectives to it. By calling abortions simply "murder," we seem to place them in the ordinary, non-
horrific category.

Abortion does, in fact, involve extraordinary violence - deliberate dismemberment - often while the
child is still alive. Indeed, that is precisely why Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and John Paul
Stevens upheld the right to partial-birth abortion in the year 2000. They said that it is "simply
irrational" to object to suctioning out a fetus's brains partway through birth when the alternative -
standard intra-uterine abortion - is, in their words, at least as "brutal," "gruesome," "cruel," and
"painful" as abortion during delivery."

-- Richard Stith

"Don't force your beliefs on me!"

-- Unborn Baby

"The question which we must pose to ourselves is what are we to do when philosophical madness is
part of the supreme law of the land and when that madness facilitates the destruction of 1.66 million
"unwanted" human lives a year. In deciding on our response, we should first remeber the
fundamental attitude which produced the proliferation of abortion. This fundamental attitude is held
by the "consuming soul" which attempts to achieve mastery over reality by reducing everything to
something which can potentially satisfy it. Rather than being people driven by our "needs," and
ultimately consumed by our "needs," those who would defend life must pledge themselves to a life
of sacrifice. Since unborn human beings are of such great worth and dignity, they are suitable
beneficiaries of a life of sacrifice. By sacrificing something of what is "mine" in order to try to
safeguard the life of another, I explicitly acknowledge and affirm the objective dignity and worth of
that other human being. In an act of sacrifice, I give something of what belongs to me for the sake
of another. By these acts I acknowledge that other persons are not there merely to satisfy my
desires. The objective reality of their being demands from me a response of reverence. By
sacrificing my time, my money, my career, my social acceptability, and, perhaps, even my freedom
for the sake of the unborn I can offer to God's most perfect earthly creatures, human persons, the
reverence which is their due."

-- Peter Chojnowski

"As bad as the economy is, as bad as the war is, the destruction of innocent human life, especially in
the womb, is a greater evil, and correction of this grave evil must take place. Each of us has a role in
making this correction in our duties as citizens."
++ Bishop Samuel J. Aquila

"If we are going to end abortion we must

bring an end to abortion profiteering. And
we cannot end abortion in this country so
long as the American taxpayer is forced to
be the largest financial supporter of
abortion [Planned Parenthood]."

-- Congressman Mike Pence of Indiana

Abortion is genocide. Its killing

populations. Its killing generations and
certainly the population that is most
impacted by abortion in America is the black community. So I feel that as a civil rights leader I have
responsibility to proclaim that black Americans are being exterminated by the genocidal acts of
abortion.

-- Dr. Alveda King

"Some say that the government should not be involved in the personal, private decision of abortion.
They dont know how right they are. The government got 'too involved' in the abortion decision
when it legalized it. Despite its profession of ignorance about whether what is aborted is in fact a
human life that has already begun, the Court nevertheless declared, "the word person, as used in
the Fourteenth Amendment, does not include the unborn [410 U.S. 113, 158]. What part of the pay
grade of government is the right to define the boundaries of human rights or the limits of protection
for the human family? Since when does the government get involved in deciding who qualifies for
human rights?

Claiming ignorance about who has human rights is a frightening abandonment of responsibility.
Some may think its an effort not to 'play God,' but it is actually just the opposite: the claim to be
God. We may claim not to decide, but in practice, we cannot escape deciding: either every human
being will be protected, or we will start deciding whom to exclude.

++ Fr. Frank Pavone

"The abortion industry is our modern-day Valley of Slaughter, where abortionists offer ritual blood
sacrifice to that ancient demon of child murder. Their work is in every way the key ritual of a
demonic religion. Yes, a religion: Abortion has an infallible dogma ("choice"), a ruling hierarchy
(Planned Parenthood), theologians (feminist ideologues), a sacrificing priesthood (abortionists),
temples (abortion mills), altars of sacrifice (surgical tables), ritual victims (babies and also women),
acolytes and sacristans (clinic workers and technicians), guardian angels (police and death-scorts),
congregations (leftist foundations and private supporters), and its own version of "grace" that makes
everything work (money)."

-- Fr. Thomas J. Euteneuer

"What if the 6 oclock news told you ten jumbo jets went down, each with 360 passengers; 3,600
people perished. Now what if that became so common that this event would happen every day for
the rest of your life? Does that sound preposterous? Thats how many babies are killed every day in
America due to surgical abortion."

-- Stephenson County Right To Life

"There is no middle ground between birth

and abortion. The proper response to abortion
is not to seek a middle ground that does not
exist, but to end abortion and, in so doing,
end the evils that follow in its wake."

-- Judie Brown

"I wonder why people who will try to show

compassion by saying I know these are
difficult days dont say anything about the
difficulty of living in a culture of abortion.
They will recognize the difficulties that sometimes arise with relationships, with health, with
finances.

But to suffer because our unborn brothers and sisters are being tortured and killed? So many of us
have a big blind spot.

I get through the difficult days by committing every ounce of my time, energy, and activity to
ending this holocaust, and by resolving anew each day that I will not stop doing that until the
holocaust stops.

Every other challenge, difficulty, or problem well, I appreciate the encouragement, but save it for
another time. Those other difficulties really pale to nothing in comparison.

++ Fr. Frank Pavone

"Is it fair to suggest that society's view is that if the unborn child is 'unwanted' then it is OK to kill
him or her but if the unborn child is WANTED and someone causes harm to that child or kills that
child then it is a crime? See the inconsistencies there? So why is it that the unborn have rights in
some cases and not in others?

Killing an unborn child against the mothers will is homicide in some 38 states. (Fetal Homicide
Laws) But heres where the schizophrenia sets in: every single state has an exception for abortion,
thanks to Roe v. Wade. So if the mother consents to the childs death, its not murder. Hows that for
logic?

We clearly recognize the unborn as living human beings or we wouldn't have fetal homicide laws
but we choose to turn our heads to the intentional killing of the unborn so long as we cloak the act
with the word abortion or choice and dehumanize that child by denying their dignity and basic
human rights. Abortion is the ultimate human rights violation of our time and we need to stop
turning our heads and start protecting life even at it's earliest and most vulnerable."

-- Leah Delcamp author of Life Inspired Love blog

"Have no fear. The outcome of the battle for life is already decided, even though the struggle goes
on against great odds and with much suffering."

++ Pope John Paul II

"No liberal cause is defended with more dishonesty than abortion. No matter what else they pretend
to care about from time to time -- undermining national security, aiding terrorists, oppressing the
middle class, freeing violent criminals -- the single most important item on the Democrats' agenda
is abortion. Indeed, abortion is the one issue the Democratic Party is willing to go to war over. To a
liberal, 2,200 military deaths in the entire course of a war in Iraq is unconscionable, but 1.3 million
aborted babies in America is something to celebrate."

-- Ann Coulter -- in an excerpt from her book, "Godless: The Church of Liberalism"

Choosing life may not be the easiest path, but its always the right path.

-- Sarah Palin
"We are all paying for society's sins for allowing this [abortion] to go on and not putting a stop to it.
Roe vs. Wade happened in 1973. So the oldest victims of this law would have been around 33 years
old now. How many of those people might have been working on a cure for HIV or cancer? Could
one of them found a cleaner fuel source? Could one of them have been a leading agriculturalist and
found a way to produce food in famine-struck areas of the world effectively? Think about all the
suffering our country faces daily from AIDS, cancer, pollution, and hunger. The same liberal-
minded people are the ones who cry the hardest about many of these problems, yet their own
support of abortion, or apathetic attitudes towards making it illegal, could have possibly inhibited
the birth of the person destined to fix some of these problems!"

Jill Guidry, author of "Choice is Murder" blog

"The Orwellian dishonesty about abortion begins with the Left's utter refusal to use the word
abortion. It would be as if members of the National Rifle Association refused to use the word gun.
These "pro-choicers" treat abortion the way Muslims treat Mohammed. It's so sacred, it must not be
mentioned. Instead we get a slew of liberal euphemisms for baby-killing: "reproductive freedom,"
"a woman's right to control her own body," "terminating a pregnancy," "freedom of choice," "a
woman's own private medical decision," "a procedure," "access to health care," "family planning,"
"our bodies, our selves," "choice." Choice is important when it comes to killing babies, but not so
much when it comes to whom you hire, whom you associate with, what you think about evolution,
how much gas your care consumes, how much water comes out of your bathroom showerhead....
The only other practice that was both defended and unspeakable in America like this was
slavery...."

-- Ann Coulter
excerpt from her book, "Godless: The Church of Liberalism"

"Will we achieve our goal of establishing justice for the unborn? Will abortion finally go the way of
slavery? Dare we hope that the killing of the unborn can be made not only unlawful but for most
people unthinkable?

Of course, it is not given to us to know just how much we will, in the end, be able to achieve.
Despite the triumph of the pro-abortion party in the recent elections, there is no good reason to
believe that our efforts in the domain of law and policy are futile or are doomed to fail. Yet we have
no guarantee of their success. As the great Fr. Richard John Neuhaus so often said: for us, there is
only the trying. The rest is God's business, not ours. Yet we are given to know that in trying, we
fulfill God's commands, and build up His kingdom.

And we know this: our prayers, political and educational efforts, and outreach to pregnant women
in need have, by God's mercy, already saved countless precious lives. We must not lose sight of this
fact in our grief at the loss of so many others due to the injustice of our laws and the coldness of so
many hearts toward abortion's tiny victims."

-- Robert P. George

"Do you believe in God, accountability, judgment? Make no mistake, we are going to be held
accountable for all the innocent blood being shed when we could have stopped the killing by our
prayers, fasting, actions and how we vote and hold our public servants accountable."

"Recently, when I was working through one of lifes unavoidable problems, a friend offered me
encouragement by saying, 'I know this must be a difficult time for you.' Here was my response.
'Thank you for your support and for being a friend. But let me share my perspective with you. No
passing problem or sorrow can be as bad as the difficulty I live with every single day, namely, that
thousands of my brothers and sisters are being slaughtered in their mothers womb by abortion. The
world by and large is oblivious to it, the law protects the violence rather than the babies, and were
afraid to do what it takes to stop it. Thats what makes for difficult times. Theres a strange but real
consolation in looking evil in the face and fighting it.'

Fr. Frank Pavone

"Abortion is our god and Obama, Pelosi, Kennedy are his prophets. His sacrifice is the life of
infants and the souls of mothers. His priests are doctors who perform abortions. His church is
Planned Parenthood and FOCA, (freedom of choice act). His covenant promises rights and freedom
for women. It delivers death of infants, permanent damage to the souls of women, of men, of
politicians."

++ Fr. Richard Perozich

"The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth. The Spirit of Truth shows us the truth about our sins. In Him
we come to understand the difference between good and evil. This works directly against the
dynamics of the abortion movement, which identifies a moral evil as a right. Woe to those who
call evil good, and good evil.

++ Fr. Frank Pavone

"Abortion, fetal experimentation, infanticide and euthanasia are four walls of Americas coffin."

-- Stephenson County Right to Life

"What is the true governing force behind the abortion industry? Is it compassion for the woman?
The right to choose? NO! Its $$$$$$$! Abortion is the largest unregulated industry in the nation,
and a very lucrative one at that. Abortion is contract killing in every sense of the word."

"So, for those who think that abortion

is just one issue like other just causes, I
would challenge them to think a little
deeper. The mushroom cloud of the
abortion holocaust hangs over our
society, unseen by most, yet it is
wreaking damage upon absolutely
everyone, because it is undermining
the very soul of our society."

-- Julie C. Author of "Concerned For

Life" Blog

"Our society is phony in its attitude

toward handicapped children. We
sponsor the Special Olympics, and
cheer on the Downs Syndrome
competitors, speaking of the joy and
inspiration they bring us; but when we hear a woman is carrying a special needs baby society says
'Kill it before it is born.'

-- Stephenson County Right to Life

"Heresy" comes from the Greek word which means "choice," because every heretic chooses what
seems to him preferable ...

++ St. Jerome

"Think about this: The eyes that read the Bible are the same eyes that read the ballots. The hands
that pray to God are the same hands that push the lever. Under law, if a person is an accessory to a
crime, they are guilty of the crime. If we vote for politicians who promote abortion we are an
accessory to the killing of millions of unborn babies."

-- Stephenson County Right to Life

"Make no mistake about it, letting old people die is a lot cheaper than spending the kind of money
required to keep them alive and well. If a government-run medical system is going to save any
serious amount of money, it is almost certain to do so by sacrificing the elderly."

-- Thomas Sowell

"God's love does not differentiate between the newly conceived infant still in his or her mother's
womb and the child or young person, or the adult and the elderly person. God does not distinguish
between them because he sees an impression of his own image and likeness (Gn 1:26) in each one."

++ Pope Benedict XVI

"Albert Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing over and
over again and expecting different results. Every day we, as a nation, allow
and promote the killing of 3,600 babies, 1.3 million every year, 52 million
since 1973. Now they are coming for the elderly and infirm. The culture of
death truly is insanity."

-- Stephenson County Right to Life

"Many do not want to 'interfere' with someones choice to have an abortion. Yet to them, it makes
perfect sense to 'interfere' with a persons choice to steal your car, burn your house, or kidnap your
child! The fact is that some choices have victims, and when somebodys choice destroys anothers
life or rights, its everybodys business. It is the business of all of us to intervene to save the
unborn."

"This [ pro-life movement] is a grass-roots battle that will be won with the gospel of Jesus Christ."
"Pretty soon abortion is going to become as ugly a word as slavery."

-- Rev. Flip Benham

That phenomenon [ the Roe Effect ] is the inevitable effect of pro-abortion women not having
children while pro-life women do have children. Eventually, eventually, the pro-life children of pro-
life women will outnumber the pro-abortion people because those people do not reproduce
themselves. I know, you will say that not all children born of pro-life mothers will necessarily
themselves be pro-life. I agree. But I am confident that the ratio will change in favor of life and not
death."

++ Bishop Rene Henry Gracida

"St. Thomas Aquinas defines love as sacrificing onself for the good of another. Abortion is just the
opposite. In abortion women sacrifice their baby for their own good. Why does this happen?
Women are being told that their career, finances, jobs, schooling etc are more important than their
babies. Many women fall for this. I did, twice. You take a scared, confused, unsure young woman
who is in a crisis pregnancy and you dangle this carrot in front of her face ( the lies). Chances are
she's going to jump at it. Society presents crisis pregnancies as a problem and they entice women
with a "solution", a deadly solution.
How can we counter this attack? Love. We can love these women and offer them real solutions, not
death. We can teach them about love. Love is sacrifice. I am willing to sacrifice my career and
whatever else to bring my baby to life. Now, that's love!"

-- Jane Brennan, MS, a former member of NOW and Planned Parenthood volunteer, is the author of
Motherhood Interrupted, Stories of Healing and Hope After Abortion.

"In 1973, when abortion was first legalized, United States child abuse cases were estimated at
167,000 annu ally. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, approximately
903,000 children were victims of abuse during 2001, a number more than five times greater.

The increase in child abuse is even more dramatic, since the 45 million American children killed by
surgical abortions (and an unknown number by chemical abortions) arent counted as victims of
child abuse. Yet abortion is the earliest child abuse, and no other is more deadly. The argument that
aborting a child prevents child abuse is true only in the same sense that killing a wife prevents wife
abuse. Dead people can no longer be abused... but preventing their abuse by killing them is
convoluted logic.

Why have children been abused far more since abortion was legalized? Because abortion has
changed the way we think about children."

-- Randy Alcorn

"I have always felt that everyone has a soul mate. This is not a fact, of course, but I do believe it is
true. I am 31 years old and, luckily, have a wonderful and loving husband and father to our children.
How about you? Are you lonely? Have you been plagued with bad relationships and frustrations
because you can't seem to find that special soul mate? If you are thirty-something or younger you
may never find your soul mate. Why? What if your soul mate was aborted? Now we are getting
very close to home. Perhaps the person you would have been happiest with, loved the most, spent
your entire life with and had beautiful children with was never born because their mother did not
want to be inconvenienced with them. How sad is that?"

-- Jill Guidry, author of "Choice Is Murder!" blog

If abortion isnt fundamentally different than other surgeries, like root canals and tonsillectomies,
why are there so many post abortion support groups and hundreds of thousands of women getting
psychological counselling and grief therapy related to their abortions? Do you know of any post-
root canal counselling and support groups?
-- Randy Alcorn

"Abortion is our problem, and the problem of every human being. We are one human family.
Nobody can be neutral on abortion. It involves the destruction of an entire group of human beings!
Just as we cannot be indifferent to the killing of a new born baby, so we cannot be indifferent to the
killing of a preborn baby. We all share the responsibility for people who are in danger. Injustice to
any person in this world is injustice to every person!"

++ Fr. Frank Pavone

"Stirred to action, that is the purpose of the pro-life movement - to stir people to action, many
people, all people to act for those who cannot defend themselves."

-- Julie C. author of "Concerned For Life" blog

"All across America, there are those who claim that it is possible for them to be pro-choice or vote
for a supporter of legalized abortion without abandoning their Christian principles. They get away
with this despite the fact that, from a theological standpoint, what they are saying is clearly
demonstrable hogwash.

Two fundamental doctrines of Christianity are that God is the author of life and that He is incapable
of making mistakes. Obviously, the only logical conclusion that can be drawn from those concepts
is that when life exists in the womb it is God's will that it be there. Since the obvious goal of
abortion is to deny that will, support for its legality is, by definition, incompatible with
Christianity."

-- Mark Crutcher

"As my friend Hadley Arkes tells his students at

Amherst College: 'our location does not change
our value.' There is nothing mystical about a
babys journey down a birth canal that
transforms it from non-human to human. But in
the greatest irrationality of our time, its only a
matter of inches that keeps them from
receiving the full protection of the law and
humanity."

-- Bradley Mattes, Executive Director of Life

Issues Institute

"I have three sisters with breast cancer, and I

resent people messing with scientific data to
further their own agenda, be they pro-choice or
pro-life. I would have loved to have found no
association between breast cancer and abortion,
but our research is rock solid, and our data
[are] accurate. It's not a matter of believing. It's a
matter of what is."
~ Dr. Janet Daling, a pro-choice medical researcher who confirmed the abortion-breast cancer link

Pro-Life author, Michael Coren talks about a conversation he had with a pro-abortion university
student following a pro-life speech he gave:

"At the end of another university speech, I chatted with a pro-abortion student who, unlike most of
her friends, was at least willing to dialogue. She told me she was gay. I said to her, "I'm not going to
debate homosexuality with you, but let me put to you a proposition. Let us suppose for a moment
that a gay gene was found and could be detected in unborn children. I do not believe this to be
plausible or possible, but for the sake of argument, let us pretend. Then let us suppose that many
people decided to abort their baby if it had such a gene and was gay. Would that be choice, would
that be acceptable?"
A long, long pause. Then tears came into her eyes and she backed away, Perhaps, God willing, we
are changing some people some of the time. No shame in that at all."

-- Michael Coren

"A wise man once said that when we appear before the judgement seat of Jesus Christ, He will look
at us very carefully and ask, `Where are your scars?' If we respond we have no scars, He will then
reproach us and say, `Was there nothing worth fighting for?'

I believe, my dear friends, there is something worth fighting for. The cause of life is worth fighting
for, the cause of Christ is worth fighting for. Let us see to our duties and with resolution,
determination, and defiance, go forward so that at the end, we can show to Christ our scars."

++ Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz

"Evil, suffering, violence - all these are bad in a society, but what is far worse is becoming used to
them, tolerating them, and learning to live with them. Then apathy becomes appealing; withdrawal
becomes enticing; silence becomes tempting. We become as the crowd around the cross at
Golgotha. We recognize the injustice, we see the suffering of the innocent and abhor the violence of
the act, but like those on the day of Christ's crucifixion, we do nothing."

-- Jean Staker Garton "Who Broke the Baby?"

""Yes, we believe abortion is the act of killing a human person and should never be permitted. Yes,
we believe abortion is a sin and is detestable in God's eyes. Yes, we believe we need to stand up
against this evil and be there to help people keep from making such a tragic and horrific mistake.
But more importantly than all of that, we believe those people need Christ, and we need to love
them as Christ would...

We are committed to achieving these goals in love. And we will go to the abortion mills to be a
voice for those who are dying horrible deaths there. But we will treat the abortion mill like a
mission field rather than a protest zone."

-- Bryan Kemper, the founder of Stand True

"People need to know that to be pro-life is to be pro-woman. The difference between 'pro-life' and
'pro-choice' is not that pro-lifers love the baby and pro-choicers love the woman. Rather, the 'pro-
choice' message says that you can separate the two, and the pro-life message says you cannot. Pro-
lifers are criticized for being 'fetus-lovers' who are insensitive to women. But one cannot, and pro-
lifers do not, love the child without loving the mother. Abortion defenders claim they are loving
women, even as they admittedly kill their children. But one cannot love the woman without loving
the child. Neither can one harm the child without harming the mother."

++ Fr. Frank Pavone

"Our community has been backing away in disgust from persons who are dependent since the
selfish sixties. Families with lots of children are no longer considered examples of generosity, but
rather of irresponsibility. Children with severe disabilities are not special angels sent to us by God,
but drains on the economy; better that they not be born. And the elderly are burdens. But if we
succeed in pushing away everyone who is dependent, then were left with ourselves, our egocentric,
sin-rationalizing, defensive, irritable and vain selves. If we never learn to give till it hurts, till the
painful reality that were not the center of the universe sinks in, we will fail at marriage, at
parenthood, at citizenship, even at simple neighborliness. Our community will become a
marketplace of the physically strong, but morally weak. The great Protestant ethicist Stanley
Hauerwas wrote an essay a few years ago arguing that we need the elderly and disabled more than
they need us. Without them to love, to sacrifice for, to give to till it hurts, we will become a
community of devils."

-- William E. May, Ph.D.

"Being 'right' on taxes, education, health care, immigration, and the economy fails to make up for
the error of disregarding the value of a human life. Consider this: the finest health and education
systems, the fairest immigration laws, and the soundest economy do nothing for the child who never
sees the light of day. It is a tragic irony that 'pro-choice' candidates have come to support homicide
the gravest injustice a society can tolerate in the name of 'social justice.'"

[...] No social issue has caused the death of 50 million people, he said, noting that he no longer
supports the Democratic Party. This is madness people.

++ Bishop Joseph F. Martino

"Do not believe in the lie that abortion is the only answer. It is never the answer. Do not believe
Planned Parenthood or other pro-abortion organizations that tell you that you need to have an
abortion. A womans womb is supposed to be one of the safest places on earth and yet is one of the
most invaded, defiled and deadly places, thanks to organizations, such as Planned Parenthood, that
relentlessly hawk contraception, then stalk and kill innocent preborn human beings via abortion.

May we, for our part, do all that we can to expose and defeat the contraceptive mentality and its
progeny, the abortion industry, as we proclaim the true dignity of each woman and her preborn
child, each made in the image and likeness of God."

-- Marie Hahnenberg
Director of American Life Leagues Pill Kills project

"All of us are implicated in some way, for the only thing that is necessary for the triumph of evil is
that the good do nothing. What should we do? For one thing, we must put up one hell of a stink,
for abortion is, precisely, one hell of a stink.

There is a time to be polite and scholarly and a time to tell the truth plain and prickly. Plainly put,
abortion comes from Hell and it can lead us to Hell if not repented. Any unrepented sin can, and we
all need repentance, whether we abort or hate or lust or despair or coldly condemn. But abortion is
more likely than most sins to be unrepented because there are so many pro-choice voices justifying
it. The justification of abortion can be more lethal than abortion itself."

-- Peter Kreeft

"Abortion is a clear-cut evil. Anyone who honestly seeks peace on earth, good will toward men
will see this if only he extends it to include women and children. Especially Christians should see
this very clearly, for their faith reinforces their natural reason and conscience, a faith that declares
that every human being is sacred because he or she is made in the image of God. The fact that some
people controvert a position does not in itself make that position intrinsically controversial. People
argued for both sides about slavery, racism and genocide too, but that did not make them complex
and difficult issues. Moral issues are always terribly complex, said Chesterton for someone
without principles."

-- Peter Kreeft

Kreeft, Peter Human Personhood Begins at Conception. Medical Ethics Policy Monograph

"What in this world is more true, more honorable, more just, more pure, more lovely, and more
gracious than the gift of life given to us by the Author of Life Himself? What is more virtuous than
a pure soul created by God? Let us think of these things, confidently asking God for His fatherly
protection upon us, upon our country, and upon those souls waiting to be born into this world."

-- Fr. Lee Acervo

"We offer to Him our pro-life work. We offer to Him our prayers for an end to abortion. We offer to
Him the penances that we perform for the protection of all human life. We offer them to God
through His Son Jesus who purifies them and uses them in His work. And thats what we have to
remember, that this is all His work; we simply participate in it to the best of our ability. But because
its His work, we know that itll get done. There will come a time when hearts will be converted and
life will be respected, because God is saddened by the death of millions of unborn children as He is
saddened by the death of all those souls who participate in the crimes of abortion. God does not
desire the death of anyone and so we know that in the end, life will win."

++ Fr. Lee Acervo

"Planned Parenthood says their mission is to provide help, information, medical care, and to protect
women. Bull. Their ignoble 'business' is the corruption of our kids. Their solvency is secured
through the killing of children in the womb. They profit off the diseases and heartache our children
suffer because they have done exactly what PP wanted them to do in the first place: have lots of sex.

A chaste couple waiting to have sex until marriage has no need for PP's services. Single women
who use the common sense God gave them and refrain from sex don't need PP for anything.
Teenagers who are encouraged to cherish their virginity, to treat each other with respect and care for
their own bodies ... properly have no need for anything PP has to offer. PP knows this. They know
that modesty, abstinence, respect, virtue, and self-control are their enemies, and so their goal is to
break down the innocence and purity of our kids as early as possible, to indoctrinate them into the
immoral mindset that pushes them into having sex young and often, and then bullies them into
believing abortion is the answer.

We cannot effectively address the evil of abortion in the U.S. until we confront our cultures
worship of sex and the attack on our childrens innocence. The remedy is a sexual counter-
revolution, led by people of moral courage and virtue. The blind cannot lead the blind."

-- Judie Brown

"A word to young people: Pregnancy outside marriage can be prevented by not having sex outside
of marriage. Even if you dont get pregnant, if you have sex outside marriage you are violating the
law of God and setting yourself up for disastrous con sequences. I cant overemphasize the
importance and the rewards of sexual purity. But if youve gotten pregnant, realize theres a child
there. Dont try to cover one sin by committing a greater sin."

"It is our job to change the hearts and minds of our fellow countrymen. It is our job to share what
we know about the inestimable value of human life with everyone we meet. Most of the time our
commitment will be seen in our everyday actions the way we treat other people, the way we talk
about children, the handicapped and the elderly. Sometimes we will be called upon to defend our
beliefs in conversations, in emails, in the classroom. And for the dyed-in-the-wool activist the
commission to build a culture of life means we stand along the roads with a graphic abortion sign in
a Face the Truth Tour, we join a protest at Planned Parenthood or we witness to life at an abortion
clinic.
Renew your commitment to stop abortion. Go to an abortion clinic this week, maybe even yet
today."

-- Ann Scheidler

"Currently, there are some 400,000 human embryos in cold storage like this around the country.
And that number is growing every day. To put it into perspective: the total U.S. population of frozen
human embryos would make up the 45th largest city in the nation roughly the same size as the
populations of Oakland, Calif., and Miami, Fla.

This staggers the imagination. In

our very midst, we have a vast city-
sized orphanage of unwanted
children. The options for these
human beings in embryonic state are
grim. They are either destroyed
outright, given to scientists for
experimentation, such as embryonic
stem cell research, or forgotten
about altogether by their parents.

This is the sad new world that the

right to abortion has led us into. It is a
world where the embryo, the unborn
child, is treated not as human person, but as property to be disposed of as its owners see fit."

"If American youth are willing to go to war and lay their life down to defend our freedoms, then
every bishop should be willing to give up his life, if it meant putting an end to abortion. And if

concerned about political correctness, without trying to build coalitions with pro-choice people."

"We wonder why child abuse has dramatically increased since 1973thats when abortion was
legalized. Not a coincidence. If its okay to kill a child before hes born, whats so bad about
slapping around the same child a year later? The first thing I thought when I heard the horrible story
of Susan Smith in Carolina drowning her chil dren was, This is just a very late-term abortion
four years late. Same mother, same children. Other than timing, whats the difference?"

"Some of the lies sound so noble: 'Every child a wanted child.' This is the slogan of Planned
Parenthood. I agree 'Every child a wanted child, so lets learn to want children more and get them
into the hands of those who want them.' But what they mean is, 'Every child a wanted child, so lets
kill unwanted children before theyre born.' Planned Parenthoods true slogan should be, 'Every
unwanted child a dead child.' Doesnt sound quite as nice, does it?"

"To see, then, in every human being an image of God, and to see in every man, woman, and child,
born and unborn, no matter what age or what condition, the Face of Christ, is really the glory of the
pro-life movement. Whether we like it or not we are engaged in a war, a war of ideas, a war of
words, a war of ideology, but a war nonetheless, and we must expect that in every war there are
casualties. The war for human life, the war to end those things that destroy human life must go on,
unending, until, in God's good time, victory, by His strength and under the banner of His cross is
accomplished. Now, as I once said, it may be night, but night which envelopes us sometimes in
darkness is not all bad, it can be a time for us to rest and gather strength for tomorrow, and this, I

"Its not considered appropriate to show pictures of a baby killed by abortion, but it is considered
appropriate to do nothing to stop the killing of those babies in the picture. The problem with the
Holocaust wasnt the sickening pictures of bodies stacked like cord wood. The problem with the
Holocaust was the evil the pictures simply pointed out. If something is too horrible to look at,
shouldnt it be too horrible to defend and too horrible to ignore?

But the truth is: These are babies even before they look like babies. Science and Scripture tell us the
same thing about when human life begins."

Rescue those who are led away to death. And do not cease from delivering those who are dragged

Observation on Roe v. Wade from a parishioner to Fr. Erik Richtsteig:

"The next time you have a homily about Roe v. Wade and pro-abortionists, maybe you could
mention that they claimed the right to abortion would help prevent child abuse. Everything I've read
indicates that the incidence of child abuse has risen significantly since Roe v. Wade. It seems to me
that the decision to make abortion legal brought about an increasing indifference to the value of
children, born or unborn. If you can kill them before birth then apparently it doesn't matter if you
abuse and/or kill them after they are born."

"Today (3/21/10) Mr. Stupak and the principled stance of other pro-life democrats gave way to
political pressure. Mr Stupak et al. were given a political fig leaf and they took it. Mr Stupak has to
know that the executive order of the President carries no weight because it cannot over-rule the Law
that is going into effect upon the Presidents signature. Both Democrat and Republican leaders I saw
interviewed fully admit this. The Healthcare Bill, when signed into law permits Federal funding of
Abortion. Anyone denied such funding on the the basis of an executive order can sue and will win
because the law is clear and an executive order cannot set aside the law.

The reassurances that Mr. Stupak declares the executive order gives are without merit. He must
know better than this. A fig leaf could not take away Adam and Eves shame. And the same remains
true here as well: no fig leaf of some executive order can take away the shame of voting to fund
abortion. It is shameful."

"The bottom line is, for those of us who are committed to the pro-life cause, the fate of the unborn
will never be merely an issue. It is always the issue. For that reason, a candidate's position on
abortion is all we need to know and all that matters. If a politician is wrong on that, he or she cannot
be right enough on anything else to make up for it. It also makes no difference whether or not the
office being sought has any direct impact on abortion. Those people who contend that it should be
legal to execute helpless children are not morally qualified to serve in any public office. And those
who help put them there have no right to call themselves pro-life."

A woman who sets her rights, the supposed right to privacy or right over her own body, above the

"Those who work for justice will always be persecuted by those who foster injustice. Those who
work to preserve the most basic justice, that is, protecting the right to life, are persecuted all the

compassion, while in reality they are focused on the most broad-based right of all and have
compassion for the most vulnerable of all. Because they know this, pro-life activists can be at peace

The ridicule they endure is a promised blessing from above, the blessing of suffering for doing what

Not too long ago anyone who went around calling human beings, either before or after birth,
nonhumans, animals, parasites, diseases, objects, waste products, or nonpersons, would have been
deemed deranged, to say the least. Now, however, when these same ludicrous expressions of
semantic gymnastics are put forth under the socially impeccable auspices of organized medicine,
academia, or the law, they suddenly are transformed into the new truth. The weakest and the most
defenseless individuals have much more to fear from the relentless name-calling, issuing from
society's so-called "best and brightest", than they ever have had from the occasional outbursts of
epithets produced by mobs in the streets.

-- Dr. William Brennan

Cardinal Arinze noted that he is often asked if a politician who votes for abortion should receive
Holy Communion.

He said his reply was, Do you really need a cardinal from the Vatican to answer that?

Get the children for first communion and say to them, somebody votes for the killing of unborn
babies, and says, I voted for that, I will vote for that every time and these babies are killed, not one
or two, but in millions, and that person says I am a practicing Catholic, should that person receive
communion next Sunday?

The children for first communion will answer that at the drop of a hat. You dont need a cardinal to

This is what the pro-aborts don't grasp, won't grasp: that every life is valuable, or no life is valuable.

The moment we rule in judgment against someone's "right" to exist based upon financial,
emotional, social, chronological, genetic, religious, or racial standards; we all cede claims to these
same rights. Because we, as finite human beings, can never objectively rule on whether or not
someone else has the "right" to be here.

I have found no better way than the pictures to get my point across. If you want to motivate
someone to quit smoking, show them diseased lungs. If the public knew the pictorial horror of
abortion, they would not be so content to let it remain legal. If we want our society to be outraged at
the reality of abortion, then we must show it in all its true horror, whether they want to see it or
not.

"Abortion is like a huge spiritual vortex of sin pulling people into it -- a spiritual power that negates

If we can see Christ in the Host, then we can also begin to see Him in the poor, the weak, the
terminally ill, and the repulsive and ugly person. We can also see Him in the baby in the womb.
This child is hidden behind the "veil" of the womb, much as Christ is hidden behind the "veil" of
the Eucharist. Yet Faith takes us beyond appearances, and we can say of the preborn child, "There is
a person like me! There is my brother, my sister, for whom Christ died!" Even when this child is a
single cell resulting from fertilization, we are not deceived by appearances. He or she is one of us,
equal in dignity.

Nothing has devastated our culture more than abortion. Everyone, even without participating

May all say Yes to God and Yes to the unborn.

At this moment in our country's history, defense of innocent human life is a moral responsibility for
all of us. The same God who thundered from Mount Sinai: "Thou shalt not kill," thunders still.
When life in the womb is destroyed, God thunders: "This is a child!" When by the most barbaric
means, unworthy of any civilized people, the brain of a child is sucked out of his or her head by a
vacuum, God thunders: "This is a child!" When a baby is left to die of exposure on a shelf because
of a failed abortion, and this is considered a "right" by any leader, God, the Source of all law and
authority, thunders: "This is a child!" When we are faced with every modern means of education
and communication, in addition to the law placed in our hearts at creation, no one, and most
especially, no Catholic, can ever say: "I did not know."

Bishop Paul S. Loverde of Arlington, Virginia

When Catholics oppose abortion, embryonic stem cell research, euthanasia and related issues, we
do not do so because of some special Catholic religious doctrine, or simply because the Church says
so. Rather, the Church teaches abortion is wrong because it already is. Abortion violates the natural
law by abusing the inherent human rights of the unborn child. The injustice of genocide, oppressing
the poor and killing unborn children is not a matter of religious doctrine. Its a matter of natural law.
And when Catholics defend the unborn, they are not imposing their religious beliefs on society,
but upholding an even more fundamental principle of justice that America itself is founded on.

We are now seeing the cloning of humans, mixtures of human and animal embryos, embryonic stem
cell research (which makes and then destroys human embryos), the destruction of "extra" frozen
IVF human embryos, and the sale of human fetal body parts, all presented by the media in very
desensitizing ways.

We must recognize that every abortion and every embryo produced and destroyed for "research"
causes the death of a living, defenseless human being, who would come to birth if allowed to
develop in an uninterrupted way.

Every one of these could be our neighbor, relative, or friend.

Would we want someone we know to be treated this way?

Why do we then allow it to happen just because we haven't met these little ones?

Dignity is due to every human life from fertilization through the moment of natural death.

Pro-abortion feminists have actively promoted abortion since 1972.

It's ironic that these feminists have made abortion the symbol of their "liberation", because one

Abortion allows men to escape their responsibility for their sexual behavior, and to exploit the
women they use.

Abortion liberates men, not women.

At the present time the Department of Health and Human Services does have a conscience
protection rule but this should not be treated as some sort of privilege which they extend to people
of faith, out of a kind of benevolence. It is a right. It is an exercise of religious liberty. There may
even be a tendency to be grateful that such a conscience protection rule exists. Our reaction to the
threat that this liberty and right could be taken away ought not to be, Oh, please kind sir, may we
not have this right just a little longer, but rather an outraged, How dare you threaten to trample on
our religious liberties!

Any government that threatens to attack this fundamental ethic by threatening to coerce those who

Any government that threatens to attack this fundamental ethic by threatening to coerce those who
have pledged to do no harm to actually do the harm they have committed themselves not to do
needs to be opposed.

We pray that the protections presently in place stay in place, but we need to be realistic about the
fact that there is a pro-abortion, pro-contraception, pro-euthanasia agenda driving the threat to strip

Children truly are the family's greatest treasure and most precious good. Consequently, everyone

Dr. Alveda King

To cure the genocide of real weapons of war in other lands, and yet sustain the medical genocide of
abortion that kills 3000-4000 Americans daily in our own land, is sheer lunacy...

[Written by a woman who experienced two abortions years ago.]

When we observe that every human being is utterly unique (even identical twins have different
fingerprints, facial expressions, and personalities), can we not conclude that the intentional
destruction of an embryo - whether in a womb or in a Petri dish - is an incalculable loss to

And that the destructive act itself fuels a materialistic view of human life, in which every human
being is dispensable if a burden or inconvenience to someone else?

The Church presents the Truth in Charity. It is the truth of the teaching that maintains our right

The contention between the culture of life and the culture of death is not a battle of our own
choosing. We are not the ones who imposed upon the nation the lethal logic that human beings have
no rights we are bound to respect if they are too small, too weak, too dependent, too burdensome.
That lethal logic, backed by the force of law, was imposed by an arrogant elite that for almost forty

But "We the People," who are the political sovereign in this constitutional democracy, have not
gotten over it, we have not gotten used to it, and we will never, we will never ever, agree that the
culture of death is the unchangeable law of the land."

At two months of age, the human being is less than one thumb's length from the head to the rump.

I prefer to call the most obnoxious feminists what they really are: feminazis. The term describes any
female who is intolerant of any point of view that challenges militant feminism. I often use it to
describe women who are obsessed with perpetuating a modern-day holocaust: abortion.

~~ Rush Limbaugh, in The Way Things Ought To Be, 1992 ~~

Another area that concerns me greatly, namely because I know how it has been used with regard to
race, is the psycholinguistics involved in this whole issue of abortion. If something can be
dehumanized through the rhetoric used to describe it, then the major battle has been won. . . That is
why the Constitution called us three-fifths human and then whites further dehumanized us by
calling us niggers. It was part of the dehumanizing process. The first step was to distort the image of
us as human beings in order to justify that which they wanted to do. . . Those advocates of taking
life prior to birth do not call it killing or murder; they call it abortion. They further never talk about
aborting a baby because that would imply something human. Rather they talk about aborting the
fetus. Fetus sounds less than human and therefore can be justified.

Once you permit the killing of the unborn child,

there will be no stopping. There will be no age limit.
You are setting off a chain reaction that will eventually

the contraceptive mentality causes abortion. When women and girls choose to sleep with men
whose children they dont want, they will take steps to ensure those children arent born. If
contraception fails, they will abort. And because abortion is easily available, these women can be
lax about using contraception, knowing there is a cheap and legal fall-back option. As long as
women and men view sex as recreation and children as annoying consequences of fun time, the
contraceptive mentality will produce a large demand for abortion. This isnt just a theory; it is what
has actually happened again and again in recent decades in country after country.

mother, or a doctor, for injuiries sustained while in the womb."

Abortion is the most selfish and abhorrent crime committed by man for two reasons: (1) its victims
are so innocent and defenseless, and (2) the crime is so terribly brutal. What's more, there is no
more callous denial of God's Being than abortion. In abortion, man sets himself up as God to decide
who shall live and who shall die. But man deserves no such power, for the simple reason that man
does not create himself. To think otherwise is to deny God His true Being as the Author of Life.

Saint Francis of Assisi would literally, we are told, genuflect in front of a pregnant woman.
Genuflect . . .because he believed that woman carried the spark of the Divine, a tiny baby made in
the creators image and likeness. For Francis, human life was divine, worthy of unquestioned
protection, respect, dignity.

We are all Franciscans when it comes to life. From the fragile baby in the womb to grandma in a
hospice; from incipient life in an embryonic stem cell to dad in a coma; from the helpless refugee
and immigrant to those hiding from terrorists -- all life is sacred.

Whenever we presume divine prerogatives and choose for ourselves the right to consider any
human life on that sacred continuum from conception to natural death as less that worthy of
protection, dignity, and respect . . . were in grave peril.

Every Mass, you know, renews the epic battle of Calvary between life/death; light/darkness;
good/evil; love/hate; and grace/sin.

Jesus won that conflict . . . and gives us here the grace to win that same struggle in our own lives
and in our culture and society. So we do not give up.

Thanks for defending life!

"It is not morally possible for any Catholic to support abortion, euthanasia, fetal stem cell research,
human cloning, or same-sex marriage. There are no ways around this, no justifications whatever.
Why? For the simple reason that the Church holds these things to be intrinsically evil. They are evil
in themselves, and no circumstances or subjective conditions can ever change that."

"If food and fluids are now considered to be 'medical treatment', why cant we deduct our grocery
bills as medical expenses?"

The preborn child is not a "potential" human being, but rather a Human Being with Potential!

"America needs no words from me to see how your decision in Roe v. Wade has deformed a great
nation. The so-called right to abortion has pitted mothers against their children and women against
men. It has sown violence and discord at the heart of the most intimate human relationships. It has
aggravated the derogation of the father's role in an increasingly fatherless society. It has portrayed
the greatest of gifts -- a child -- as a competitor, an intrusion, and an inconvenience. It has
nominally accorded mothers unfettered dominion over the independent lives of their physically
dependent sons and daughters."

-- Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta

It seems clear as daylight that abortion would be a crime.

"Being pro-life doesn't save babies, acting pro-life does."

"When the time comes as it surely will, when we face that awesome moment, the final judgment,
I've often thought, as Fulton Sheen wrote, that it is a terrible moment of loneliness. You have no
advocates, you are there alone standing before God and a terror will rip through your soul like
nothing you can imagine. But I really think that those in the pro-life movement will not be alone. I
think there will be a chorus of voices that have never been heard in this world but are heard
beautifully and clearly in the next world and they will plead for everyone who has been in this
movement. They will say to God, "Spare him because he loved us, " and God will look at you and
say not, "Did you succeed?" but "Did you try? "

This is indeed another kind of holocaust, by another name. At last count, more than 40 million
unborn children have been deliberately, intentionally destroyed. What word adequately defines the
scope of such slaughter? [After 9/11] the American people responded with shock, sadness and a
deep and righteous anger and rightly so. Yet let us not forget that every passing day in our
country, more than three thousand innocent Americans are killed [through abortion].

-- Jesse Helms, former U.S. Senator, in his autobiography Here's Where I Stand, 2005

"I've noticed that everybody that is for abortion has already been born."

Ronald Reagan

"More than four thousand innocent lives are taken each day in this land of the free and home of the
brave, whose lady holds high the torch of welcome to human life."
--John Powell, Abortion: the Silent Holocaust

"Never tire of firmly speaking out in defense of life from its conception and do not be deterred from
the commitment to defend the dignity of every human person with courageous determination. Christ
is with you: be not afraid!"

- Pope John Paul II

"When a man imposes his will upon another with complete disregard for the others body, it is called
rape.
When a woman imposes her will upon another with complete disregard for the others body, it is
called abortion."

Unknown

"What an irony that a society confronted with plastic bags filled with the remains of aborted babies
should be more concerned about the problem of recycling the plastic"...

- Winifred Egan -
The real question today is not when human life begins, but, What is the value of human life? The
abortionist who reassembles the arms and legs of a tiny baby to make sure all its parts have been
torn from its mother's body can hardly doubt whether it is a human being. The real question for him
and for all of us is whether that tiny human life has a God-given right to be protected by the law
the same right we have.
