Introduction

Industrial building system (IBS) is defined in many ways by many experts in the Malaysian
construction industries and by the government also. Its definition improves with the time and
the technology which changes daily, monthly and annually. The term IBS can be defined in
the technique or innovation of the construction to build the structural components in
controlled environment which is on site or offsite the construction and putting it its place and
assembling in the construction. The idea of IBS is mainly that to reduce the quantity of the
labour from the construction site. Because when the companies hire a lot of worker some of
them are unskilled and not fit to the industry and that causes a lot of damage to the
construction economically and physical of the building.
There are five commonly used IBS types in Malaysia, which are
A) Precast concrete frame, panel and box system.
C) Steel frame system.

B) Steel formwork system.

D) Prefabricated timber frame system and E) blockwork

system.
These types of industrial building systems are categorised based on the main structural
components such as what is made in their walls beams and columns.

Precast Concrete Frame, Panel, and Box System:

Precast concrete frame, panel and box system is one mostly used system among the
five Industrial building systems and its main components are made of precast concrete either
its framing or boxing system. One of the good examples we have seen in the IBS factory as
precast concrete was the precast pre-stressed half slab concrete.
In our site visit one of the most interesting IBS system components we have witnessed in the
Proven Holding companies was the precast-pre-stressed half slab, which only half of the slab
for a building and the other have will be casted on the half slab when its plugged in the
construction.
PrecastPre-stressed Concrete Half Slab considered as High End Product of precast
concrete which simplify and expedite the construction of floor slab is the critical activity in
the construction process, very adaptable to all other systems including conventional which
makes it a very popular IBS component. It is highly demanded for all types of building
construction.
This half slab is very amazing despite that its beauty and easier to install, this concrete
is light weight and can be very easy to transport from site or the factory to the construction
site, which is the last stage for the slab

Quality Control with G40 mix with high strength pre-stressed wire
Slab thickness is 50 mm
Slab modular width is 200 mm and 400 mm
Slab length up to 5 to 5.4 metres
50 mm Grade 30 structural topping with wire mesh
Thinner slab eases handling and transportation

Blockwork system:
Blockwork system uses as the main player or the most of the construction components
are made of blocks. One of all time mostly used methods for construction in the IBS system
and also before IBS or the countries which dont use IBS use the block system a lot.
Blockwork system in the IBS is very interesting, and a lot of different types of blocks are
being produced by the IBS factories as we have seen in the PROVENHOLDING factory in
our IBS site visit.
Our site visit to proven holding factory we have seen few different blocks. One of the best
blocks produced by the IBS factories is interlocking block. Blockwork produce Proven
Interlocking Engineering Block. The Interlocking Block is designed as load bearing wall
system. It can easily be and transferred the load in to it. The products are installer friendly,
fast and easily laid vertically, resulting in quality wall finishes.

Engineering Load Bearing Wall
Certified IBS product by CIDB
Quality Control with G25 mix
Manufactured Average Compressive Strength is 7N/mm2

Special tongue and groove features for easy installation and self-alignment
Air gap feature for good heat and sound insulation

Besides the quality and the beautiful construction these block create which these
blocks do need too much to connect because they are interlocking one and another, they have
another secret which makes them special. These blocks weight is reduced in to big amount or
number which makes these block easy to transfer from one place to another without spending
much transportation and that will save a lot of fuel energy for the company.
