Well Performance Analysis using WellFlo

Due Date Thursday 18th August 2016 before 5.00 pm (Submit
hardcopy in my pigeon hole)
Project Summary
A new field discovery has been made in offshore Malaysia. Seismic and
exploration well data are available to provide rock and fluid property data. Nodal
Analysis is normally used to calculate the flow potential of a well, design well
completion of a well and model the sensitivity of a well design to different factors
that may affect it in the longer term.
In this case study, the well used will be designated as X. The field was developed
using 10 wells and reached peak production in 2000. Since then, oil production
has decreased rapidly due to an increase in water production. An economic limit
of 1500 STB oil/day/well was premised; i.e. production rate lower than that is not
economical.
The objectives of this case study are:
1) To develop a well performance model using WellFlo 3.8.7.
- Match PVT, IPR and VLP with measured data before you move on and use the
model to perform system analysis.
2) Simulate base case forecast under various operating conditions.
- Run sensitivities to find the effect of pressure depletion, increasing water cut
and GOR with respect to economic limit.
3) Evaluate various development options to optimize oil production.
- Run sensitivities on various development options to improve the production
rate of this well.
