Eight Precepts
1. I undertake to observe the training rule to refrain from
killing.
2. I undertake to observe the training rule to refrain from
taking what is not given.
3. I undertake to observe the training rule to refrain from
any kind of sexual activity.
4. I undertake to observe the training rule to refrain from
false speech.
5. I undertake to observe the training rule to refrain from
wines, liquors, and anything that causes intoxication or
heedlessness.
6. I undertake to observe the training rule to refrain from
eating outside the proper time.
7. I undertake to observe the training rule to refrain from
dancing, singing, instrumental music, and unsuitable
shows, and from adorning and beautifying myself by
wearing garlands and applying scents and ointments.
8. I undertake to observe the training rule to refrain from
the use of high and luxurious beds.
