HIGH SCHOOL BAND GRADING POLICY

PERFORMANCES:

Students must adhere to the performance & rehearsal calendar passed out at the beginning of the
year. This can also be found online.
Attendance at all major performances/rehearsals is mandatory.
If any performances/rehearsals such as pep rallies, middle school gigs, during school
performances must be missed, an excuse form must be submitted as well as an email notification
from the parents/guardian. Must receive at least ONE week before expected absence.
In case of an emergency absense contact band directors as soon as possible.
Students behavior as an audience member at specific performance is graded as well.

There will be frequent music theory sheet assessments.

Students music will be checked for appropriate markings (rehearsal numbers, measure numbers,

There will be a music pass off chart outside the band directors office for every two-week
period. Students must come in during those two weeks to play a designated portion of music
Failure to come in for help or to pass off will designate a change in part assignment and a lower
grade.
Opportunities to redo a section of music are allowed, providing the student completed that section
on time in the first place.

WRITTEN EVALUATION:

Bring all required materials such as music, pencil, folder, instrument, case, reeds, drumsticks to
class each day.

Students must write a paragraph analyzing the performance and their experience (turn into band
director)
Students attending more than two events a semester will receive extra credit (with proof
providing they did so)
Any problems or conflicts with any events must be discussed with the band director.

PART ASSIGNMENTS (does not affect students grade):
