Evaluation question 4

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research,
planning and evaluation stages?
We used many different media technologies throughout this coursework. We
started to use them for pre-production, production and post production. This
proves that we used various different media technologies, these were:
Pre-production:
Twitter (rural coast account)- this is a social media platform. We used
twitter as we were able to promote our new band, but also allowed the
audience to be kept up to date with all the band information. We were
also able to follow other bands and were then able to be inspired by
them and we were then able to develop some of the other bands ideas.
We were also able to tell the audiences when the new album would be
released.
Blogger- I used blogger a lot throughout pre-production, production and
post production. I used this to post my coursework onto so that the
teachers and examiners can see my work. Therefore, I posted my
research and planning, then this showed the whole journey towards my
digipak, magazine advert and music video. Blogger played a huge role
in my media coursework as I was always posting things on there that
were all to do with my work and the designing of all three products that
I created.
Slide share- this allowed me to upload files like PowerPoints, it can then
either be put on privately or publicly. The slide share can then be
embedded onto other sites. Therefore, I embed slide shares onto
blogger. This was when I was analysis of digipaks and magazine
adverts.
Scribd- I also used scribd as I was then able to upload my word
documents. Scribd is a digital library and e-book subscription service.
Therefore, this allows me to upload my word documents and then
others ae able to read them. This helped med a lot through my preproduction as I was able to upload my research and planning onto my
blog so that it was also neat.
Google- I used to google a lot, as this is the internet and I used this for
the majority of my research and planning. I got my images from google
images. I was also researching about existing bands, magazine and
digipaks. This allowed me to take inspiration from others through the
internet.
Microsoft word and PowerPoint- I used Microsoft a lot during my
research and planning as I was writing a lot of information. This was
easy for me to look at and also means that it has a simple lay out. I
then used scribd and slide share to post both PowerPoints and word
documents on. This then made it much easier to be able to read on
blogger. This technology made it a lot easier for me in terms of being

able to post my work on blogger so that it could be marked and

moderated.
YouTube- I used YouTube, so that I was able to find a band that we were
inspired by. This then meant that we were able to choose the song that
we would use for our video. We were then able to look at their music
videos and compare them to ours and we could also take some ideas
from their videos. We also used YouTube to post our music video on.
This then allowed us to post the video onto blogger so that it could get
marked and moderated.
Apple- I used a couple of apple products, these were my iPhone and
MacBook. I used my MacBook pro for researching and editing. When
researching I used my laptop all the time as that was my way of
getting onto the internet and that was where all of my work was. I also
used iMovie. However, we all shared together so we did not make a
video on each laptop. But apple has helped me a lot for my
coursework. I used my phone for the apps. For example, I used Tumblr
and we heart it to get inspiration. Especially for my target audience. I
was then able to find a target group that our group could aim our video
at. This then allowed me to use some of these images and add them to
my research. I also used my iPhone 6 to take some photos of the band
when we were filming so that we could post update post about how are
filming was going. Our phones were also helpful; as we were then able
to stay in contact with our group and our band members so that
everyone knew when we were filming and we were able to get them to
have everything ready. S we hired a studio in our draft we also used
our phones to email and ring the studio so that we could hire it out. My
laptop also allowed me to easily transfer my work to the school
computers.
Tumblr- I used this as an app on my IPhone and I also used it on my
MacBook. This allowed me to see some images of indie pop genre
conventions. So that we could then become inspired and we were able
to use some pf these ideas. Anything that we liked we would use as
part of our research so that we could have lots of ideas gathered
together. Having this app was very helpful as it helped us do our
research and made it much easier to find images that suited the indie
pop genre.
Animoto- I also used animoto when creating my 25-word pitch. I used
this off my laptop, this website was very helpful for making this short
video as I just found my pictures from my research and then chose
some words that suit the indie pop genre and then the video was
made. It was very easy as it made the video for me. I was then able to
get an embed code so that I could post it onto my blog.
Production:
Handheld HD video camera- this was the video camera that we used to
film our music video with. This helped us a lot as this was our only way

of having footage. We also used a camera to take pictures of the band

for our digipaks and magazine advert. We had some problems with the
video camera as it kept running out of battery very quickly therefore
we had to use one of our own cameras, the schools camera and one
stage our phones. Although overall the video camera was very easy to
use and we also had a tripod so we could make sure the camera was
still. Then we were also able to do pans and move the camera so that
the audience were able to stay involved and it was not too boring.
SD card- we used an SD card so that we were able to save our work so
that we were then able to put it into our laptops, to then create a
video. We put our footage together to make our music video. This was
also very helpful as it meant that we could keep all of our work
together and we did not then lose any of our footage.
Post production:
IMovie- we used iMovie a lot as this is where we edited our music
video on here. Therefore, this was a big part to our video. This
allowed us to use lots of different editing tools to be able to use it
and make it look professional. Although when we wanted to do
something and did not know how to do it we did have to use the
internet to search it so that we were then able to do it. This was
fairly hard to use however we go much better especially after we
had already used it for our draft video. This meant that we knew
what we were doing for our final video.
Adobe premium pro-we tried to use this to edit our music video
on, however we started to use it then saved our work. Then we
lost our work. So we tried to use it again and we found it to
difficult so we stopped using it and just used iMovie to fully edit
our final music video.
