BDP EnviroTech is awarded California Energy Commission Grant

We are proud to announce that BDP EnviroTech has received a $1.56 million grant from the California
Energy Commission (CEC) to demonstrate an innovative, energy-efficient, wastewater treatment project
in the City of Rialto in San Bernardino County, California, United States. Located southeast of Los
Angeles, Rialto has a population of 101,910 (2013). Veolia America will be BDP EnviroTechs operating
partner for this project.
The goal of the project will be to demonstrate that the Biological Double Efficiency Process (BDP), an
innovative wastewater treatment technology developed by BDP Envirotech, will result in a substantial
improvement in energy and water consumption when compared with traditional wastewater treatment
technologies. The successful completion of the project could potentially lead to the complete retrofitting
of four wastewater treatment plants in Rialto (totaling 11.7 million gallons per day of capacity).
The CEC Innovative Water and Energy Efficiency Demonstrations for the Commercial, Industrial or
Water / Wastewater Sectors is one of the most challenging environmental award programs in the
industry. The State of California has the most stringent and comprehensive water treatment
requirements in the United State and BDP EnviroTechs technology is fully compliant with these strict
standards.
We strongly believe that this award is a significant step forward for BDP EnviroTech.
The BDP treatment process has previously been identified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
as an emerging technology for mainstream biological wastewater treatment. Based on simultaneous
nitrification / denitrification principles, the BDP technology combines state of the art, easy to maintain
aeration technology and an integrated all-in-one bioreactor process that results in 50% savings in energy,
land footprint, operations and maintenance, and water use with a capital cost 30% less when compared
to existing technologies.
*BDP Technologies (CA) is a sole subsidiary of BDP EnviroTech, LLC (MD).

Innovative Water and Energy Efficiency Demonstrations for the Commercial, Industrial or
Water/Wastewater Sectors
EPIC
(GFO-15-323)
July 19, 2016
On April 19, 2016, the California Energy Commission (Energy Commission) released a
competitive solicitation to fund innovative pre-commercial technologies and strategies that will
result in both water and energy savings. Up to $4 million in Electric Program Investment Charge
(EPIC) funding is available
The Energy Commission received eight proposals by the due date of June 6, 2016. Each proposal
was screened, reviewed, evaluated and scored using the criteria in the solicitation. Eight
proposals passed the Stage One Application Screening.
The attached table titled Notice of Proposal Awards identifies each applicant selected and
recommended for funding by Energy Commission staff and includes the recommended funding
amount and score. The total amount recommended is $3,565,400.
Funding of proposed projects resulting from this solicitation is contingent upon the approval of
these projects at a publicly noticed Energy Commission Business Meeting and execution of a
grant agreement. If the Energy Commission is unable to timely negotiate and execute a funding
agreement with an Applicant, the Energy Commission, at its sole discretion, reserves the right to
cancel or otherwise modify the pending award, and award the funds to another applicant.
In addition, the Energy Commission reserves the right to: 1) add to, remove, or shift funding to
make additional awards and 2) negotiate with successful applicants to modify the project scope,
schedule, and/or level of funding.
This notice is being mailed to all parties who submitted an application to this solicitation and is
also posted on the Energy Commissions website at: www.energy.ca.gov/contracts/.
