Engineering
Environmental engineering
is the application of science and engineering principles
to improve the environment (air, water, and/or land
resources), to provide healthy water, air, and land for
human habitation and for other organisms, and to
remediate polluted sites.
Environmental Engineer?
Environmental engineers possess the scientific and
technical knowledge to identify, design, build, and
operate systems that make modern society
possible.
They involve traditional engineering components
such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, and
engineering design.
Environmental engineering education and practice
also includes a range of other disciplines, such as
biology, microbiology, ecology, public health,
geology, meteorology, economics, political science,
and computer science.
Synopsis
This course introduces the cause, effect and
method to control pollution. The course
covers the three major categories of industrial
pollution; water pollution, air pollution and
industrial/schedule waste management.
Learning Objectives
Illustrate water quality parameters for understanding effect of
water pollution to the environment and public health for
sustainable development
Analyze wastewater treatment processes and facilities
Design system to treat domestic and industrial wastewater
effluent
Analyze types of air pollution and air pollution control system
in determining types of air pollution emission from industries
Analyze hazardous waste according to the requirement set by
the local and international requirement
Adopts an ethical approach when discussing in activities to
develop, promote and implement public policy
