Office Ergonomics

The following memo is to inform you that I will be evaluating your office
to ensure that you have the optimum working space. Some key areas
that will be looked at are:

To office chair;
Work station/desk;
Desktop space;
Lighting

The items listed above will be evaluation based on a check list that I
have created based on the principles of ergonomics. The following
evaluation is to ensure that you have to ideal work space to get the
ideal amount of work completed. It is not in any way meant for you to
change your work space.

Final Report
The office that I observed was Heather Wilikinsons and she is the
customer service manager at Vos Independent Grocer. Overall her work
space is very efficient but there are a few areas that could use
improvement.
The first being the placement of the phone. While observing her working
I noticed that the phone is on the opposite side of the room to where the
computer is placed and the computer is the main point in the office
where most of her work took place.
Another area I saw that could be improved is the placement of the
printer. The printer was in the corner next to the computer. Based on the
amount of times that I saw the printer in use during my observation it
would be a better use of the office space if the printer and the phone
were to be switched.
I also noticed while observing that she has a filing cabinet of along the
side wall of the office and that she frequently has to roll away from her
desk or even get up to be able to access this filing cabinet. While this is
not a major problem with the room we did discuss how time consuming
this portion of her job can be and how she often stays late to complete
her job.
The office I observed is very organized and tidy besides the few things
that I observed and suggested she take a look at I found this office to
be very ergonomically sound and a very good place to work.
