Safety

Warning
Risk of bursts due to dirty nozzles!
The pressure release at the load valve is done with nozzles that may
be clogged by pollutions in the fluid. This may cause an overload
what may blast away components or cause fluid to come out. Install
an effective pressure limitation in front of the load valve!

1.1

General Safety Advice and Warning Hints

1.2

Hints how to use the Load Valve

Never cut, damage or modify the connection cable and do not put anything on it.
Never touch the control box with wet or humid hands.
Connect the device to power suitable power sources, only (see technical data).
Unplug the mains cord during thunderstorms, if the cable is damaged, or if you detect smell
or smoke.
Assure sufficient grounding of the installation. Otherwise malfunctions can be caused.

Never expose the control box to excessive heat or humidity, obtain the technical data.
Do not store the device at humid or dusty locations or at temperatures below freezing point.
Never dip the device into water or other liquids. Never let liquids come into the device.
Do not open the device.
Do not use the device after it has fallen down or if the casing is damaged.
Avoid strong magnetic fields. Keep the device away from electric motors or other devices
causing electro-magnetic fields. Strong electro-magnetic fields may cause malfunctions and
influence measuring values.

2.4

Use as Agreed
The device QL 326" is a load valve controlled via a bus system and equipped with a proportional
pressure limitation valve mit pre-amplifier. It is used to measure pressure, volume flow rate and
temperature. A load can be simulated with the integrated pressure limitation valve, e.g. to measure
the performance of a pump in relation to the load. This is done by following a pre-defined pressure
curve (reference value input 0 100 % corresponding to 1.5 10 V) to get test sequences that
can be reproduced exactly. A variance analysis is executed, but no control.
Any other use of this measuring instrument is regarded as not intented use. Please contact our
service staff if you have questions exceeding the contents of this manual or if you want to use the
device for a different purpose. We will be very much pleased to help you.

2.5

Warranty Regulations
In accordance to our warranty regulations we guarantee the condition without defects for this
measuring instrument for a duration of six months. Wearing parts and storage batteries are excepted from this warranty. The warranty is spoiled if repair work or interventions are executed by
unauthorized persons.
Within the warranty period we repair damage or defects which are caused by a manufacturing fault.
We only accept warranty claims if they are reported to us immediately after their discovery, but latest six months after delivery. The warranty benefit is by our choice through repair of defective parts
or replacement by intact parts.
Send your instrument with an invoice copy or delivery note copy to our service department. The
address is given at the end of this manual.

2.6

3.2

Qualities of the QL 326

The load valve QL 326 is a further development of the proven load valve QL 2xx. The manually
controlled restriction valve has been replaced by a pressure limitation valve with pre-amplifier. The
extra-ordinary mechanical qualities of the predecessor (nominal pressure, maximum volume flow
rate, error limits, a.s.o.) could be maintained completely.
The load valve eases the testing of pumps distinctively, e.g. the recording of characteristic curves
in relation to pressure, since an individual load can be simulated exactly and reproducably. The
components volume flow rate sensor (turbine) and load valve, and test points for pressure and
temperature are combined in a single unit. The mechanical connection (inlet/outlet) is done as internal thread ISO 150 228-G 1.
For safe operation of the load valve we recommend the installation of an external pressure
protection. This must be installed by the customer, e.g. with an pressure limitation valve in
front of the load valve, or by the upstream hydraulic system.

3.3

Putting into Operation

Wear eye protection!

Wear gloves!

Attention
Turbine wheel can be damaged!
Putting into operation and ventilation may be executed at a maximum volume
flow rate of 30 l/min and a max. pressure of 30 bar. Otherwise the turbine
wheel can be damaged by the air contained in the system.

After installing the load valve into the hydraulic system it must be ventilated during the first two
minutes of operation:
1.

Remove the protective cap (pos. 10 in the picture in section Fehler! Verweisquelle konnte
nicht gefunden werden. on page Fehler! Textmarke nicht definiert.) from the proportional
valve to get access to the ventilation screw below it.

Warning
Hydraulic oil can make you blind!
The hydraulic oil will come out mmediately after connecting the Minimess
hose. Assure that the oil does not contact your eyes or skin. This may cause
severe injuries like blindness or skin irritations. Wear protective glasses and
gloves! Provide suited collecting baskets for the hydraulic oil.

Connect a Minimess hose to the Minimess test point (Pos. 3 in the picture in section
Fehler! Verweisquelle konnte nicht gefunden werden. on page Fehler! Textmarke nicht
definiert.). The contained oil-air mixture will immediately come out of the opposite end of the
hose.
Let the oil-air mixture come out of the load valve and use a screwdriver to open simultaneously the ventilation screw in the proportional valve for one turn.
Wait until the oil flows out in a steady stream withput interruptions or bubbles.
Close the ventilation screw in the proportional valve.
Remove the Minimess hose from the test point.

Programming

4.1

General Hints and Definitions

The programming of the load valve can either be done using a Hydrotechnik measuring instrument,
or using the available CAN commands when connecting to an existing CAN bus.
Several data are defined during programming and transferred via CAN bus to the control box. The
load valve is able to follow a defined pressure sequence (ramp or sine), but cannot control. Additionally it is possible to run the pressure sequence in cycles to repeat identic loads consecutively.

4.2

Please see the hints in the manual of the measuring instrument.

The control can be run in three modes:
