1. ECU PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION POLICY (PROVISIONAL)

The distributor should write the ECU program before using ECU because CNH supplies ECU in
which the program is not written.

1-1. About ECU Program

Various data such as engine serial number, injector calibration data and manufacturing date in
Hino Motors, etc. besides engine control program are included in ECU program. Therefore,
ECU program is different in each engine.
1-2. PIN Number for Hino Reprog Manager
The PIN number is necessary to activate Hino Reprog Manager that used to write ECU program.
1-3. Writing of ECU Program
Distributor writes ECU program by using the Hino Reprog Manager. However, injector
calibration data in this ECU program is the initial setting data by Hino Motors. Therefore,
distributor should rewrite injector calibration data to latest data.

1-4. Rewriting of Injector Calibration Data

The distributor should rewrite to injector calibration data that has been sent with ECU program
from CNH by using Hino Diagnostic eXplorer after ECU program is written.

2. ABOUT HINO REPROG MANAGER

Hino Reprog Manager is computer software to write the ECU program from computer to ECU.

5. NOTES OF PROGRAMMING TO ECU

IMPORTANT

The ECU program is written in flash ROM in ECU And writing program in ECU takes about 25
minutes. In case of the power supply cuts out when writing program or writing cannot be
completely ended, flash ROM cannot be written again, and the ECU cannot be used. Of course, in
this case is out of parts claim. Do not fail writing the program by noting the following contents.

5-1. DC 24V Power Supply for ECU

In case of writing ECU program directly in ECU, use AC-DC converter for DC 24V power supply if
possible. In case of writing ECU program on the machine or writing directly in ECU by using 24V
battery, confirm whether there are 24V or more in the battery, and charge the battery in case of
24V or less, then perform the programming by connecting with the battery charger as much as
possible.
5-2. Power Supply of Personal Computer
Take the power supply from the AC socket (outlet) as much as possible. In case of the use
battery of personal computer, start the programming with battery full charge condition. And, do
not use personal computer that cannot use the battery for 40 minutes or more.

5-3. Setting of Personal Computer

The personal computer that uses for the programming must turn off the power-saving function
as the system standby etc. and the screen saver. Programming cannot be completed normally if
the personal computer becomes standby.
5-4. While Programming
Do not use other applications of computer as much as possible while the programming in order
to stabilize the communication with ECU. In case of writing program on the machine, never start
the engine and operate every machine function.

6. PREPARATION OF ECU PROGRAM

Confirm whether the ECU program and the injector calibration data that has been sent from CNH
are correct. And, save these soft data to the personal computer or the memory device (flash memory
etc.)

7. ACTIVATION OF HINO REPROG MANAGER

Click Hino Reprog Manager icon (Short cut). Select the user ID and enter the password (Same
password with Hino Diagnostic eXplorer) to login window.

Hino Reprog Manager is activated and initial screen of Hino Reprog Manager is displayed.

8. PROGRAMMING PROCESS
(1) Click ECU Program to start the programming.

(2) After the screen changes as follows, click Browse to select the ECU program.

(3) Select folder that the ECU program was saved, and open the ECU program file.

(4) Select Content of work if necessary, and click Next.

(5) After the screen changes as follows, click Read ECU parameter.
Then progress of the communication with ECU is indicated.

(6) Check the item of Neither the unit number nor the engine number are written as follows if
possible.

(7) After the reading ECU parameter ends, click Verify/Judge.

(8) Confirm the judgment result, and click Next if it is green or yellow.

Click Start Reprogramming to start the writing ECU program.

NOTICE
Writing of ECU program takes 25 minutes. Never cuts off the power supply
of the personal computer and the ECU, and note that the personal computer
doesn't enter to standby state.

(10) After the writing ECU program ends, following message is displayed. Turn off the power
supply to ECU and turn on again according to the message, then click OK.

NOTICE

(14)

Click OK on massage screen or End in main screen to return to initial screen.

(15)

Close the Hino Reprog Manager.

(16) Rewrite the injector calibration data to the latest setting data.
The injectors calibration data, received together with engine software via ASIST, refer to the
original injectors installed on the engine in production. If one or more injectors have been
replaced on the engine, it is necessary to write the correct injector code (QR code) of the
injectors replaced.
