FatherMay they be one...just as you and I are one.
John 17:21-22
MAY THEY BE ONE BIBLE CAMPAIGN is a
ationwide program which aims to distribute 5 million

Stories of families and lives changed by Gods
Word:
BB A mother of seven from Romblon who has learned
the discipline of having a humble heart, submitting
to her husband, and being kind to her children in
her daily reading of the Word.
BB A doctor from Zambales who regularly shares
Gods Word to inmates, believing that Gods face
can be seen in them.
BB A young man from Atimonan, Quezon who continues to share his passion for the Bible to younger
children.
BB A young teacher from Gumaca, Quezon whose
worldview became God-centered because of her
daily study of the Bible.
The Bible is the Word of God. It will guide people
towards a
blessed and peaceful life. Give now and
help change lives and communities. Please fill up the
Response Form and return it to us today.
May God bless you for your prayers and for helping
proclaim the Word that shall not pass away.

We have many parts in the one body, and all these parts have
different functions. In the same way, though we are many,
we are one body in union with Christ, and we are all joined
to each other as different parts of one body.
Romans 12:4-5 (GNT)

HE starting point of Psalm 133 is the family situation among

the Israelites. It was usual among them for married sons and
their families to continue to live with their parents. In a situation
such as that, it would be easy to have conflicts: father against
son, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law, and so on. The picture that we get, however, is one of perfect harmony: the relationship is good and pleasant, two adjectives that together
describe a state characterized by joy and goodwill.
While the starting point is the family, the Psalm focuses on
the whole nation of Israel, which is being compared to that of
a family living in perfect harmony. That is the reason why the
Good News Translation translates brothers here as Gods
people, referring to all Israel. And of course we too are included
in the Psalm, for we are also part of Gods people. The Psalm is
no longer simply about Israel, but about our beloved country,
the Philippines, as well.
Blessings, prosperity, progress, developmentall of these
are gifts that God wants to bestow on us as a nation, so that our
country may indeed become the progressive community that
God wants it to be. And one way of our nation receiving these
gifts from God is for us as followers of Christ to be united, to
have real peace and harmony among ourselves, and to be one as
well in our worship of the One True God.
What about the reading from Romans 12? From the very
beginning of the Christian movement, one clear feature of the
new community established by God through Jesus Christ is
diversityrich, dynamic diversity. There is ethnic diversity:
Jews, Proselytes, Samaritans, Greeks, and Romans. There is
diversity in worship. There is diversity in structure and church
practice. It is clearly Gods intention that the church should
have diversity as one of its main characteristics.
Now diversity is wonderful. It makes life much more interesting. How dull life would be if all of us have the same background
and speak the same language! Diversity, therefore, should not be
viewed negatively, but as one of the positive characteristics of
the Christian community. As a hymn expresses it:

In our difference is blessing, from diversity we praise

One Giver, one Lord, one Spirit, one Word,
Known in many ways
But as we affirm our diversity, we also affirm our unity: we are
many, but we are one. In Ephesians 4:4-6, there is reference to
the sevenfold unity of the faith community: one body, one Spirit,
one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God.
What is the effect of this unity within the body of Christ? One
answer is found in Ephesians 4:16:
Under his control all the different parts of the body fit
together, and the whole body is held together by every joint
with which it is provided. So when each separate part works as it
should, the whole body grows and builds itself up through love.
Can we find a better description of the progressive community? And can this experience within the church be transplanted
into the world, so that the world would experience what being a
progressive community is all about? More specifically, through
our commitment to Gods Word, we who are followers of Christ
become Gods instruments in the transformation of our nation,
so that it may become the progressive community that God
wants it to be!

GNT - Good News Translation

NAB - New American Bible

...and you remember that ever since you were a child,

you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able
to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith
in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful
for teaching the truth, rebuking error, correcting faults,
and giving instruction for right living, so that the person
who serves God may be fully qualified and equipped
to do every kind of good deed.
