MITSUBISHI FUSO has made it a mission to responsibly develop commercial vehicles
that fulfill the essential role of logistics.
Although diesel engines are effective in preventing the greenhouse effect due to their
high thermal efficiency, many diesel engines emit more NOx and PM compared to
gasoline engines.
We have brought together MITSUBISHI FUSOs extensive technologies and that of the
group, to develop a new "Diesel Engine System which excels in
reliability, economic feasibility and efficiency, and is people-and-environment-friendly,
that is a technology that will be available throughout the world in the next generation.

Development of low exhaust emission engine


To protect our environment and health, the most stringent 2005 exhaustemission
regulations in the world are scheduled for Japan.
NOx (nitrogen oxides) and PM (particulate matter) levels are expected to be reduced by
40-85% compared with present exhaust gas standards.
MITSUBISHI FUSO is relentlessly improves various parts of the engine, as well as
develop new engine technologies to reduce emission, and introduce vehicles in
compliance with the new long-term exhaust emission regulations, as early as possible.

The new 6M70T engine, which is based on the new short-term 6M70T engine for super-low PM trucks,
satisfies both new Long-term Exhaust Emission Regulations and excellent fuel economy by improving
combustion/engine specifications and modifying the emission gas after-treatment system.
