Thiswasasolidfirstepisode,inthesensethatitintroduceditscharacterswell,setupthebackdrop
oftheschoolanditsinternalpoliticsthoroughly,andgaveusplentyofcuteandseriousmoments
togetusinvestedinthecharactersandtheirpersonalstruggles.Itsalotofinformationtoget
acrossinonehour,yetIdontfeelliketheepisodewasrushedinanyway.AndIlovehow
investedIamalreadyinthecharacters,withtheirbigsportsdreamsyetutterlynormalpersonal
lives.
Personally,Imnotthebiggestsportsfan(wellokay,Idoloverhythmicgymnastics),soIwasnt
surehowmuchIdenjoyadramaallaboutstudentspursuingtheirdreamsinthesportsarena.But
theshowputsthekidsandtheirrelationshipsattheforefront,whilestilllettingthesportssetting
createaninterestingbackdropthatIactuallyfindprettyinteresting.Ihadtodosomeresearchfor
thisone,especiallyinweightlifting,andIsurprisedmyselfbygettingprettyengrossedinlearning
moreaboutit.Thatjustgoestoshowhowagreatcastandendearingcharacterscanmakeasubject
interesting,whendoneright.AndIdothinkthisshowisdoingitright,evenatthisearlystage.
IvebeenafanofLeeSungkyungseversinceherdebutinItsOkay,ThatsLove,andshe
continuestoimpressmewitheachsuccessivecharactersheplays.Shesanactresswhoseemsto
throwherselffullyintowhichevertypeofcharactershesgiven(Iadoreherabilitytomakesuch
hilariousfaces),anditsfuntoseeherbranchingoutintosomethingdifferentforherfirstleading
role.Forsuchabeautifulyounglady,itsinterestingtoseeherthrowingimagetothewindtoplay
Bokju,andwhileitsnoteasytotampdownhernaturalprettiness,IrespectthatLeeSungkyung
isgoingtheextramiletophysicallyembodyafrumpy,averagegirlwhosephysicalstrengthisher
greatestasset.LeeSungkyungstilllookslikeshedsnaplikeatwigundertheweightofreal
barbells,buttheshowsmartlydrawsattentiontoherheightinalotofways(herfriendsaremuch
shorterthanher,shetakesstairsthreeatatime,etc),addingtotheillusionofunusualstrength.
Shesgottheshy,awkwardmannerismsdownperfectly,andIfoundmyselffullybelievinginher
asagirlwhosbeengoodatnothingherwholelifebutsports.
Ontheotherhand,IwasntsureifNamJoohyukwasreadyforanotherleadingrolequiteyetI

rivalSoobin.IabsolutelylovedJoSoohyangasthevillaininSchool2015shewaschillingly
evil,andtrulyfrightening.Shessofterhere,moremeangirlthantrulybad,andattimesIeven
foundherfunny.IthinkherandBokjusrivalryjustmightendupbeingmyfavoritepartofthis
show.BokjusbuddiesNanheeandSeonokarealsoalotoffun,withNanheetheclownofthe
trioandSeonokthestraightman.Theirthreewayfriendshipissupportiveandsolid,andits
obvioustheresalotofloveandloyaltybetweenthemisfits.ButImmostcuriousaboutShiho,
whoseemsfriendlyandsweetontheoutside,buttheresasadnessinher,andahistorywithJoon
hyungthatIworrycouldcreateproblems.
Inconclusion,myfirstimpressionsareverygood.Ithinkwereinforasweet,heartwarming
comingofagestorywithanadorablefirstloveandsomewonderfulfriendshipandrivalry
moments.IdontexpectWeightliftingFairytodelivermuchangst,andthatsagoodthing.Ifit

1.Iwaspleasantlysurprisedwhentherewasatitle,Iloveshowslikethat.Eachepisodewill
haveathemeandeachtitlewillgiveusapeekintowhatwecanexpectfromthatepisode.
2.Iamrelievedthattheydroppedthechildhoodconnectioninthefirstepisodeitselfinstead
ofthefinalepisodesiftheyaregoingtousethattrope.Also,itwasfunnyandadorablehow
thelittlegirltriedtocatchthelittleboyandfelldown.Itwasacutetwistbecausewehave
alwaysseenheroescatchingheroines.
