Thebarghestisavilecreaturethatresemblesananimalistichumanoidcoveredinthick,coarsehair,comical
lookingbatlikeears,ashrivelednose,andamouthfullofsharp,yellowedteeth.Thebarghestisanintelligent
beastfilledwithconstanthatredandselfloathing,andlooksuponhumanswithjealousyandayearningto
belong.Bargheststendtoliveinthefringesofcivilizedareas,ofteninabandonedhouses,nearbyforests,or
eveninruins,waitingfortheperfectmomenttostrike.
Whenpossibleabarghestwillapproachalonetargetandattempttoensnare
theirsensesbycastingcharmperson(DCC,pg131).Ifthetargetresists,the
barghestwilloutrightattackthem,usingtheirclaws,teethandspellsto
subjugatetheirprey.Barghestsareconflictedintheiractions,actingviolently
againsttheirvictim,ravagingtheirbodyandmindastheirfleshandsoulare
consumed.Barghestssustainthemselvesbyfeedingonthefleshand
memoriesoftheirvictims.Onceavictimhasbeenfullyconsumed,aBarghest
gainsaccesstoallthememoriesandemotionsoftheirprey,andarealsoable
tosoundexactlylikethem.Duringthistimethebarghestissatiatedand
revealsinafalsesenseofbelongingandcontentment.Thisstateonlylastsfor
oneweek,andonceithaspassedtheselfloathingandhatredreturn.The
barghestwillturnitssightsonthevictimsfamilyandfriends,attemptingto
consumethemonebyoneinthehopesofcontinuingthefeelingofbelonging
andcontentment.Ifitcannotgettothefamily,itwillsimplyfindanewvictim
toconsume.

Abarghestcantaketheshapeofalargeblackwolfatwill.Itgainsthestatsandabilitiesofthatcreaturewhile
inthisform.

ThedespairofaBarghestsaturatestheareaaroundit.Anylivingtargetwithinamileradiusofabarghestis
affected.Thingsbreak,accidentshappen,peopletendtobemoreirritable.AlltargetsmakeLuckrollstwo
stepsloweronthedieladderwhileintheaffectedarea.Ifabarghesthasbeenintheareaforovertwomonths,
targetsalsomakeallPersonalityrollsonesteploweronthedieladder(nosave).
