God is restoring and reviving His power in, and through His Church. This
restoration is causing the Church to enter into a mighty revival. In this revival
the supernatural will be common among true believers in Jesus Christ. God is
now raising up people who are no longer content with going to church to be a
spectator. These people are hungry for more than just tradition, formality and
religion. They are seeking to be used in the demonstration of God’s power.
Revival is here! This book, as well as the many others that Tony Owens has
written is part of the tools that God is using to equip hungry believers with the
faith necessary to move in the things of the Spirit of God. For you to receive
what is in this book, you must first believe what is written in the Word of God.
Second, you must confess or speak that you have what the Word of God says
you have (a daily confession). Third, you must continue to cast down all doubt,
fear and unbelief, and put the Word of God above everything else. Get it in
your spirit, if God’s Word says it, then it’s true, above every circumstance or
situation that may speak contradictory to the Word of God. Just keep believing
that you have what the Word of God says you have. Keep confessing that you
have it, and soon you will realize that your faith muscle will have grown, and
it (the whatsoever you have said believing according to Mark 11:22-24) will
begin to manifest. Whether it is an Anointing to heal the sick or raise the dead,
the resources to pay your bills, or your loved ones coming to Jesus Christ for
salvation, speak it, and believe it in your heart. Speak it over, and over again,
day after day, and believe.
It is your faith that will produce revival in, and through you. Keep reading
the teachings in this book, over, and over again. Confess who you are in Christ
Jesus, and what you have in Him every day (Please use the confession list in this
book daily). Keep saying who you are according to Mark 11:22-24, and soon
the measure of faith to do what you are confessing will be met. This will then
cause the manifestation of what you are saying to begin to flow from you, as
rivers of living waters. Remember, do it (confess the Word of God) as often as
you can, daily. Two other thing that you must know to walk in the supernatural
power of God, the first is that you must live holy and the second is that you must
forgive everyone for everything that was done to or against you in any way.
Unforgiveness causes us to hate, “but faith worketh by love”. This includes the
faith to walk in the power of God. Read these teachings daily, for they are full
of the Word of God, and thus faith. Expect it! Revival

Understanding the Gifts Of The Holy Spirit

I Corinthians 12:1-12 says,

“Now concerning spiritual gifts brethren, I would not have you ignorant.
Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as
ye were led.
Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of
God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord,
but by the Holy Ghost.
Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh
all in all.
But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to Profit Withal.
For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of
knowledge by the same Spirit;
To another faith by the same Spirit; to another gifts of healing by the same
Spirit;
To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another
discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the
interpretation of tongues;
But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every
man severally as he will.
For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that
one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.”

As we endeavor to understand the Gifts listed in the above scripture, it is

imperative that we remember and respect the fact, that they are Gifts of the Holy
Spirit. Because they are Gifts of the Holy Spirit, their function is dependent
upon the direction of the Holy Spirit. That is to say, that the Holy Spirit will lead
you in the ministering of these Gifts.

Defining Diversities, Administration, And Operations Of The Gifts.

1. Diversities Of Gifts - this means that these Gifts are different one from
another.
2. Differences In Administration - This means that the act, technique or process
of giving out or dispensing of the gifts are done in different ways. This always
has to do with the way the person who has the Gift(s) gives it out.
3. Diversities of Operations- Operations mean the performance of something.
There are many, or a diversity of ways that these Gifts work, or are manifested.
This always has to do with how, or the way that the Holy Spirit manifest or works
1
the Gift regarding the target person or audience.
Again, each of the Gifts differ one from another. Our God is so awesome that
He gives each of us different Gifts, and He is so unique that He allows the different
Gifts to be administered or given out in different ways. Yet in God’s uniqueness,
to both allow us to have different Gifts, and for them to be administered through
each of us in different ways, He then causes the operation of those Gifts that
we are administering or ministering to someone through, to operate in diverse
or many different ways. When I think of the many different ways that Jesus
administered healing (He laid hands on some, He rebuked sickness in others)
and the diversity in the operation of those Gifts (He told a man to go wash in a
pool and healing began to operate in his body) I realize that we serve a unique
God that often does not do two things the same way, which is often the case with
the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. God often does different things through us with
the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. Many of the things that God does through us with
the Gifts of the Holy Spirit differ based on the various graces that we have been
given, Romans 12:6 says;
“Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us,
whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;”

The Purpose Of The Gifts Is To Profit Withal.

Many have Gifts of the Holy Spirit operating in their lives, but yet don’t
know what they are, or how to minister in them. Because of this the Gifts
in them are not profiting the Kingdom of God. This lesson is intended to
give you understanding regarding this, causing the Gifts in you, to “Profit
Withal.”
Understanding the true purpose of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit causes us to
profit withal in them. Now profit withal does not mean personal gain. Many
want the Gifts of the Holy Spirit for the wrong reasons. Some just want to say,
and/or show what God has given them, others want it for their own pride and
personal gain. These are not the purposes of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit in your
life; rather they are to profit the Kingdom of God. To do this, you must be
willing to go and do what God wants you to do. If not, then the Gifts that you
have been given will not “profit withal.”
The Gifts that you have should be administered to the Body of Christ to bless
them, and administered to the world to reach them for Jesus Christ sake. Again,
they are not for personal pride or to show how great you are. The Gifts of the
Holy Spirit are not intended to point people to you, rather to Christ.
Let us now examine the definition or meaning of the word “Gift” from
the original Greek language. The word for “Gift” in the Greek is “Charisma”
(pronounced Khar-is-mah), meaning spiritual endowment or miraculous
faculty. From this we must deduce that each Gift of the Holy Spirit is a spiritual
endowment (spiritual Gift) with miraculous functions. These Gifts have nothing
to do with natural ability, rather spiritual. These spiritual Gifts, although they

2
are not natural Gifts, most often manifest their results in the natural realm. For
example; the Gifts of healing are a spiritual Gift, yet the results manifest in the
natural realm. I believe that the Gifts of the Holy Spirit are a restoration of
the original tools of dominion that God had given Adam. When Jesus walked
on the sea it was a miracle to fallen man, yet I believe it was basic dominion
to righteous man. Because Jesus was righteous, He had this miracle working
dominion power.
Beloved, it is important that you understand the function and operation of
the Gifts of the Spirit, for it will give you the ability to nurture and develop the
Gift(s) that you have been given.

The Foundation That You Must Have To Function In The Gifts Of The Holy
Spirit.
Faith is the basic foundational principle that you must have to function
in the Gifts of the Holy Spirit that may already be resident inside you. Many
function at the lowest levels with their Spiritual Gifts because their faith is at
a minimal level. Beloved, you will never be able to use what you don’t believe
you have. Faith is a necessity. Let me help you build a tower of Faith for you
to place your Spiritual Gifts. The problem with our faith is condemnation and
self identification (equating the operation of God’s promises with what you feel
about yourself). Throw out the devils condemnation, as well as your estimation
of who you think you are, and stand upon the Rock of Righteousness, Jesus
Christ. The functions of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit are not based on you, rather
on Christ righteousness that He gives to you. Just repent of all known sin in
your life and stand upon the righteousness of Christ, which gives you the right
to function in the Gifts of the Holy Spirit without hindrance, yet as the Spirit of
God wills. When the devil begins to point out your failures and other reasons
why you should doubt that you can function in the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, then
open your mouth and declare “I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.”
II Corinthians 5:21 says;
“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be
made the righteousness of God in him.”
Know that you are righteous, thus qualified to flow in the Gifts of the Holy Spirit
and each time the enemy challenges you, your faith in Christ righteousness
will cause you to triumph over the enemies lies and condemnations. It is in
righteousness that you have dominion and access to the Gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Expect the Gifts of the Holy Spirit to operate in your life.
Just like righteousness is a factor in the Gifts operation, so is sin a factor. Sin
always decays our faith, so try and live Holy, and when you sin, confess your sin,
and repent, and God will cleanse you from all unrighteousness.

Activating A Dormant Or Non Functioning Gift In Your Life.

You may have a Gift of the Holy Spirit, but that Gift may not be functioning

3
in your life. You see you may have a Gift or Calling, while your life may not be
what it supposed to be in God. Romans 11:29 says;
“For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.”
Although you may have that Gift or Call, without repentance it yet works or
functions in righteousness.
God may not take your Gift away from you, but it will be non-functional because
of sin.
To activate a dormant Gift you may need to address this question, “why are the
Gift(s) not functioning in my life?” Some reasons may be:
1. You may not have submitted the Gifts to God to use as He wills. To remedy
this, you must repent of self will and submit the Gift to be used as God wills.
2. A lack of faith. To remedy this, you must believe the righteousness that you
have through Jesus. Build yourself up with the Word of God (study, confess, and
meditate on it).
3. You may be ignorant regarding the function and operation of the Gift(s).
To remedy this, you need to study to show yourself approved. Gather as much
information about the Gift that is in your life, especially biblical examples, then
study and mediate on those scriptures. Also, read books that God is directing
you to read regarding that Gift.
4. There may be some sin in your life that must be addressed and repented of,
which hinders the function of that Gift. To remedy this, ask God to show you
what it is (if you don’t already know), then confess it to the Lord and repent.
5. You may need a spiritual leader to lay hands on you, to stir up or release the
Gift(s) in your life. To remedy this, ask God who you should be sitting under,
then do as the Lord says (make sure its God).
6. You may be trying to function in the wrong Gift. To remedy this, ask God
to show you what Gift(s) He has given you, and repent of trying to function in
something that God did not give you, for whatever reason that you were doing
it. I don’t want to leave out the most important point, and that is, you should be
filled with the Holy Spirit. Ask God to baptize you in the Holy Spirit.

Everyone Does Not Have The Same Gifts.

I Corinthians 12:13-30 tells us that there are many members in the Body of
Christ. Each person is given a Gift of the Holy Spirit as the Spirit wills, according
to I Corinthians 12:11, which says;
“But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every
man severally as he will.”

Not only don’t we all have the same Gifts, but we don’t have the same ability
to administer them, and they don’t always operate the same way, as they do
with others. God does not want you to have a special formula that you follow,
that you saw someone else do, rather, He wants you to learn to depend on Him
regarding the Gifts of the Spirit, this is why He has made each of them unique to

4
the people He dispenses them to. The Gifts function best by the direction of the
Holy Spirit and not by a formula.

The Three Categories of Gifts.

There are nine Gifts of the Holy Spirit given in I Corinthians 12:8-10. These
Gifts seem to fall into three categories, and they are:

Supernatural Revelation Gifts- The Word of Wisdom, the Word of Knowledge,

Discerning Of Spirits
Each of these Gifts reveals something supernaturally.

Supernatural Power Gifts- Faith, the Working Of Miracles, The Gifts Of

Healing
Each of these Gifts does something supernaturally.

Supernatural Utterance Gifts- Prophecy, Divers Kinds of Tongues, Interpretation

of Tongues

Each of these Gifts says something supernaturally.

All nine Gifts are miraculous in their function. There is one Gift that has both
supernatural revelation and supernatural utterance, and that is the Gift of
Prophecy, in which I will explain in detail when we examine each of the Gifts
individually.

Identifying the Gifts Of The Holy Spirit In Your Life.

Before you can truly understand a Gift of the Holy Spirit, to operate in it, you
must first identify what Gift(s) has been given to you. The first place that you
need to begin regarding the identification of a Gift is by asking yourself, “Did
God reveal it to me a Gift in a dream, vision, in prayer, or by a word from my
spiritual leader?” Begin to recall what the Lord has shown you, or spoken to you
about what He has called you to do, or showed you doing. Sometimes God may
be prompting you, through daily encounters, to begin to use a Gift that He has
given you, or to ask for a particular Gift that you see a need for in your life. For
example, if you constantly see or run into people who are sick and infirmed, or
people keep asking you to pray for their sicknesses, then God could be allowing
you to see a need, so that you may ask for the means or Gift to meet that need,
or He could be pushing you into using the Gift that is already in you. The Bible
tells us to “seek ye the best Gifts.” The best Gift for you may not be the best Gift
for me. So we should seek the best Gifts for the work that the Lord has called
each of us to do.
If you cannot recall that God had given you a dream, vision, direction in
prayer, or you had never received a word from your spiritual leader regarding a

5
Gift or call on your life, then you need to ask God to give you a Gift of the Holy
Spirit, and to reveal to you clearly what it is. It is a good possibility that you
already have a Spiritual Gift, but asking Him to show you can be the very thing
that brings what you have to light.

Increasing the Anointing In The Spiritual Gifts.

The old adage “jack of all trades, and the master of none”, is often a true
principle. You can be involved in so many things that you don’t focus or get
dedicated to the very thing in your life that you were purposed to do by God.
If you desire to increase the Anointing (level of power) regarding the Gifts of
the Spirit, you must decide that you are going to be dedicated to the work and
service of the Lord in these Gifts. Many cannot build themselves up properly
in the Gifts because they are split between so many things. Listen beloved, to
increase the Anointing in these Gifts, you need to have regular prayer, reading
of God’s Word (studying, meditating, confessing, and memorizing), and living
Holy (including fasting, and turning away from worldliness). All of these things
require dedication. Get dedicated, consecrated, and learn as much as you can
about the Spiritual Gift that you have, or desire to have and then watch how it
increases and grows.
As I have stated earlier in this lesson, often spiritual Gifts are released or
imparted to you from your spiritual leaders. Romans 1:11 says;
“For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the
end ye may be established.”
I Timothy 4:14 says;
“Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with
the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.”
Some leaders are not spiritually away of the function of Spiritual Gifts. If this
is the case with your leader, then ask God to open their eyes and give them
understanding regarding these matters. You may also ask God to lead you to the
place or leader that He (God) has ordained to impart these things to you. There
is something that you need to understand before you run to someone to lay
hands on you, and that is, you need to be willing to truly submit and learn under
them. Don’t think that you are just going to go somewhere and they give you
something without you spiritually paying the price for it. Elisha got a double
portion of Elijah’s Anointing, but he sat under him to learn what he needed to
learn, and he served to receive it.
There is one other thing that I must address, and that is, that you can stir up
(rekindle) or arose the spiritual Gifts that were given you. II Timothy 1:6 says;
“Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God,
which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.”
You stir up the Gifts the same way you increase the Anointing on the Gifts.

6
The Gift May Require You To Be Willing To Go!
Many Christians claim that they do not have a Gift, which may not be true
at all, rather the issue might be that they have not stepped out and tried to do
what they were called to do. You see, many Gifts require you to leave the safety
and security of your local Churches (the physical building). Beloved, to walk on
water, you must first move from the natural position of security on dry ground,
and take a spiritual step onto the water. The spiritual work will not happen until
you make a natural step from your secure comfort zone. You will not heal the
sick until you step out and go where the sick are.
Gifts manifest with service to God. The Gifts of the Holy Spirit are for the
work of the Lord, and not for show. The work of the Lord is in all the world,
and not just inside the walls of the Church. Beloved, you need to meditate on
the Gifts and give yourself completely to ministering in them. I Timothy 4:14-15
says;
“Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with
the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting
may appear to all.”

Why Aren’t We Winning The World To Christ?

God’s people are going into all the world with social skills alone, rather
than spiritual ones that would distinguish the Christian from others, causing
people to seek the True and Living God that we represent and declare. There
is a world of people who are hungry and seeking to see the True and Living
God manifesting His power through His people. They have followed after the
supernatural that has been based on the demonic (psychics, witch doctors,
spiritist, astrology, tarot card readers, eastern religions, witchcraft {by joining
covens}, fortune tellers, charmers, necromancers {those who supposedly speak
to the spirits of the dead}, and more.) The reason that people accept a counterfeit
is because they do not see the genuine. Beloved, the Gifts of the Holy Spirit in
you are the genuine.
Beloved, there is a large group of people who claim that God does not exist.
They are wrong. Know this, the knowledge of men is not greater than the
revelation of God. When men say that God does not exist, then His revelation
of power through the Gifts in His servants puts mans intellect to shame.

Only Believe Who You Are In Christ And His Word!

Beloved, the greatest hindrance that the Christian has in receiving from
God, moving in the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, and doing what God has called us
to do, is not the devils power, rather it’s our faith. The devil does not use his
strength against us, rather he uses sins results, deception, and wiles (tricks) to
cause you to lose your faith. The devil will try to disqualify you from operating
in the Gifts, or he will try to discourage you in some way, by using guilt and

7
condemnation. Remember this, whenever the devil tells you why you can’t do
something, I want you to declare why you can, based upon your righteousness
in Christ Jesus. When he (the devil) says that you can’t heal the sick because
of (whatever reason), begin to declare your right standing (righteousness) in
Christ, which restored your dominion, thus giving you the right to do so. The
Gifts are given to you to restore order, where the enemy had sown disorder.

8
Gifts, Dominion, and Power Operate In Righteousness

Many Christians strive to walk in the spirit life. The life in the spirit (which
includes operating in the Gifts of the Spirit, having dominion and power) is due
to righteousness. Romans 8:10 says;
“And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life
because of righteousness.”
Righteousness is the basis by which we have access to operate in the Gifts of the
Holy Spirit, dominion and power.
Before I can go any further in this lesson, we must gain a true understanding
of what righteousness is. So what is righteousness? In the Greek it is the word
“dikaiosune (pronounced dik-ah-yos-oo-nay) meaning justification of character
or innocent. This is to say, that which was wrong in the sight of God has been
justified and made right. We are justified because of the sacrifice that Jesus
Christ made, in the giving of His righteous and sinless life, as a payment for our
sins. The shedding of His innocent blood paid the price needed for humanity
to once again have the opportunity to be righteous, or in right standing with
God. This happens when we acknowledge our sins (wrongs), repent (turn from
and feel remorse) for them, and ask forgiveness in Jesus name. Righteousness
in essence is right standing with God. Merriam Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary
Tenth Edition defines righteous; as acting in accordance with divine or moral
law: free from guilt or sin, morally right or justifiable.

The Test For Righteousness.

Whenever we press forward to receive the power of God, the Gifts of the
Spirit and true dominion, we are always confronted with a test from the enemy
to move us from the place of righteousness. It is how we respond during this
test that will dictate if we will move into flowing in God’s power, dominion,
and the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. The enemy will try to find a place in you,
where he can lead you into sin. The first place that he always starts is in your
weaknesses. If you have a weakness to complain and murmur when things get
difficult, then he will turn up the heat and try and make things difficult in your
life to cause you to sin, causing you to move from your righteous posture. If
it is lust that is your challenge, then he will present you with opportunity to
lust. If talking about people, getting excessively angry, watching filth or ungodly
things on television, pride, covetousness, lying, stealing, overeating, or any
other sin or act of disobedience towards God, then the enemy will present these
challenges to you, but magnified and most likely at your weakest point. The
purpose of this temptation is to try and disqualify you for God’s power through
unrighteousness. This was the same challenge that was put before our Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ. Luke 4:1-15 states;
9
“And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led
by the Spirit into the wilderness,
Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing:
and when they were ended, He afterward hungered.
And the devil said unto Him, if thou be the Son of God, command this stone
that it be made bread.
And Jesus answered him saying, it is written, that man shall not live by
bread alone, but by every word of God.
And the devil, taking Him up into an high mountain, showed unto Him all
the Kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
And the devil said unto Him, all this power will I give thee and the glory of
them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomever I will I give it.
If thou therefore will worship me, all shall be thine.
And Jesus answered and said unto Him, get thee behind me, Satan: for it
is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou
serve.
And he brought Him to Jerusalem, and set Him on a pinnacle of the temple,
and said unto Him, if thou be the Son of God, cast thyself from hence:
For it is written, He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee:
And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at anytime thou dash thy
foot against a stone.
And Jesus answering said unto him, it is said, thou shalt not tempt the Lord
thy God.
And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from Him
for a season.
And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went
out a fame of Him through all the region round about.
And He taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.”

We see that after this temptation, Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into
Galilee. It is important that you realize that the Holy Spirit had already come
upon Him (Luke 3:21-22), which would be similar to us being baptized in the
Holy Spirit, yet it was not until He was tested for righteousness, that He actually
walked in the Power of the Holy Spirit. Many Christians have been baptized
in the Holy Spirit, yet they lack the power. Today I present to you the missing
ingredient, Righteousness.

It’s All Sins!

God means all sin, and not just some. Any sin causes unrighteousness, no
matter how little or how great they may be. Both sins of actions and sins of
thoughts. Righteousness is not being forgiven or justified concerning the really
bad sins, rather all sins, including the sins of thought. Many Christians sin in
their minds and never repent, and thus lose the access to God’s power on that

10
basis. There are some sins of actions and some sins of the heart and mind. For
example: theft is a sin of action, while covetousness and lust is a sin of the mind
and heart. Both are sin, yet we often only recognize one, the sins of actions, as
sin. Jesus told the people, that if a man looks at a woman to lust after her he has
committed sin. Matthew 5:28 reads;
“But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her
hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.”
There is no question that the act of adultery is sin, but we must also accept that
the thought of adultery is also sin. This truth of sins of the mind and heart can
not be a truth for one point (adultery) alone, but must in fact apply to all other
areas of sin or disobedience to God. It is not just the act, but also the entertaining
of the thoughts. When I say entertaining of the thoughts, I do not mean that if
the enemy tries to tempt you with a thought, that you have now sinned, rather
when you begin to entertain or think on doing it, you have sinned. You must
cast down the enemies suggestions immediately, to avoid being led into sin, thus
unrighteousness. Many Christians live in a constant state of unrighteousness
because of their thought life. You can not hide what you consider little sins
from God. He (God) also sees and hears your words thoughts and attitudes.
Stay Holy!

Adam’s Dominion.
When God gave Adam dominion (Genesis 1:26-28), it was predicated or
based upon Adam’s righteousness or right standing with God. Adams dominion
was centered in life in the Spirit through right standing with God. When Adam
sinned, he became spiritually dead and separated from God, thus losing access to
His dominion, in which, as I have said was centered in life in the Spirit. Adam’s
dominion was based on righteousness. As long as Adam was in right standing
with God, he exercised dominion over the fish of the sea, over the fowl of the
air, over the cattle, over all the earth (including the elements like the winds,
rain, oceans, etc..), over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth, and
over every living thing that moveth upon the earth (including germs that cause
sicknesses like cancer, aides, etc..) according to Genesis 1:26-28, which reads;
“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let
them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air,
and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that
creepeth upon the earth.
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him;
male and female created he them.
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply,
and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of
the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth
upon the earth.”
When Adam sinned he lost his righteous stance and his dominion. This is why

11
the enemy is always trying to get you, the Christian to compromise your stance
in God, even just a little. He knows that sin always causes us to lose our place of
dominion. Your sins, just as with Adams sins causes your dominion to be given
to Satan. Satan declared that dominion and power had been given to him when
he was trying to tempt Jesus in Luke 4:6, it reads;
“And the devil said unto Him, all this power will I give thee and the glory of
them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomever I will I give it.”
The only person who could have given Satan this power was the person who had
it before him. Who was that person? Adam! You too give the power that God
has given you to the enemy when you sin.

The Restoration Of Dominion To Righteous People.

When Jesus died on the cross at Calvary it was to bare or take the punishment
for our sins, which caused us to be unrighteous, and lack dominion. At His
death He bought back our dominion, and put us back in right standing with
God, and thus a restoration of our dominion. Jesus gave us His righteousness,
and took upon Himself our unrighteousness, causing us to be in right standing
with God and restoring to us, access to the Spirit life, dominion and power. II
Corinthians 5:21 says;
“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be
made the righteousness of God in him.”
The restoration of Adam’s (including the children of Adam, you and I) dominion
comes with righteousness through Jesus Christ. You should not just have a
onetime repentance, thus giving you righteousness, rather a life of living Holy
and righteous.
There is no dominion in sin, there is no healing in sin, there is no miracles
in sin, rather it is in righteousness. It is in living righteously that healing flows
through God’s people. Let’s examine this statement by looking at I Peter 2:24,
which reads;
“Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we,
being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were
healed.”
Our being dead to sin and living righteously causes the manifestation of healing,
because of Jesus stripes or sacrifice, causing us to be forgiven and health restored.
But if a person still is alive to sin, then the right standing that causes restoration
to health, provision, dominion and power does not manifest in them.
When we look at the promise of power, dominion and the Gifts of the Spirit
that was given to you and I, who are the Church, there is a reason for great
excitement. But these Gifts, power and dominion are yet based on us being
in right standing with the Living God. You must take this seriously and not
diminish this truth, for in it, is the power and Anointing that you seek.

12
The Doorway In.
When we examine the lives of those people in the Word of God (Holy
Bible) that moved in God’s power, we will notice that they were all righteous
(not perfect, but righteous through repentance and forgiveness). God’s people
are actually begging Him to walk in His power and move in the Gifts of the
Holy Spirit, while He (God) is seeking them to truly repent and become dead
to sin, thus becoming righteous and having access to His power and the Gifts
of the Holy Spirit, in which He has ALREADY GIVEN! The Lord told me that
people are asking Him for more of His power, and He is asking them for more
of themselves. When we die to sin and the flesh, we avail more of ourselves to
God in righteousness.
Beloved Christian, the doorway to God’s power and the Gifts of the Holy
Spirit, that you have yet to travel through, is righteousness. It is in righteousness
that these things which have already been given to you, and I, the Church, will
manifest. Adam had unhindered access to God’s Spirit in the Garden of Eden
and so the Gifts of the Spirit were already accessible to Him. Righteousness
causes reconciliation to God and restoration in the things that man through
Adam had had originally. Again, if you desire to walk in dominion, power and
the Gifts of the Holy Spirit you must be righteous.

What Caused The Day Of Pentecost To Fully Come?

Acts 2:1 says;
“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one
accord in one place.”
What happened to cause the day of Pentecost to fully come? They, the disciples
got righteous. Let’s examine the word “fully” in this scripture, for it holds a key.
Fully denotes that there was a necessary measure. Measure of what? We will get
to that in a moment. The word fully in the Greek is “sumpleroo” (pronounced
soom-play-ro-o), meaning to fill completely (by space), or to accomplish (in
time). Pentecost fully came because they (those disciples in the upper room)
met the standard of righteousness through repentance. They were in the upper
room praying (Acts 1:12-14). I’m sure that a large portion of their prayers were
repentance, having just seen Jesus defy the laws of death, through resurrection
and the laws of gravity, through His ascension in the air (Acts 1:9). They must
of thought of His character and His holy life, and knew that if they were going to
do the things that He did (John 14:12-14), then they too, would have to be Holy
and righteous, as He (Jesus) was. So they began to empty themselves of sinful
thoughts, habits and behavior through repentance, and asking forgiveness in
Jesus name. When they were empty of sin, then God’s measure of righteousness
was full, which then caused a release and restoration of God’s power through the
Holy Spirit. The reason they tarried was to get right through repentance in prayer.
When you spend time in true prayer, not seeking a give me list, and you begin
to let the Holy Spirit speak to you about those things (even little thoughts) that

13
hinder Him from fully coming in, then you too, will have a personal Pentecost,
in which you will emerge in power, dominion and with the Gifts of the Holy
Spirit manifesting greatly, in, and through your life. The dominion, power, the
Gifts of the Spirit and the Sword of the Spirit (the Word of God) operate in
righteousness. To even gain breakthrough when you are declaring the Word of
God in a situation, you must be righteous to truly see breakthrough.
Many Christians have faith, but lack righteousness, while others have knowledge
and lack righteousness. Beloved you need righteousness, the Word of God, faith,
and prayer (in this order) to truly see breakthrough.

How Do You Become Righteous?

It is so simple, yet most Christians find difficulty in staying righteous. Staying
righteous does not mean to be legalistic, rather striving to live holy. I John 1:9
tells us how to become righteous, it reads;
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to
cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Although this is very simple, Christians don’t confess or repent of most sins,
especially those in our thought life. You must die to your flesh, including putting
away sins of thought and sins of actions. You need to ask God to forgive you and
make you sensitive to the Holy Spirit again, and to help you not to do things that
cause unrighteousness. Some unseen sins that cause unrighteousness might
be; lust, un-forgiveness, bad thoughts about other people, covetousness, mind
adultery and fornication (Matthew 5:28), any disobedience to God (including if
He ask you to do something at that moment and you put it off until later), being
entertained by sin (through conversations, the internet, television, movies, etc..),
overeating, not tithing and giving to the Lord’s work when He instructs you
to, saying things that are bad about others, gossiping, minding other people’s
business, disrespecting authority (including your parents, your boss, police,
governmental officials, your Pastor and other natural and spiritual dignitaries).

God’s Power, Dominion, And The Gifts Of The Holy Spirit Are Accessible
Through Righteousness.
Everything that God has promised you, the Christian, is accessible through
faith and righteousness. The Anointing to heal the sick, to raise the dead, to cast
out devils, to meet needs, to cause the wind to cease blowing and the waves to
be calm, the Anointing to win souls to Christ, and more is accessible through
the door of righteousness and faith, but you must walk through it. God will not
make you do it.
Beloved Christian, sometimes we are not honest with ourselves about where
we truly are with God. For example: I know that when a righteous person prays,
there are results, because they are in right standing with God, which causes God
to hear and respond. Yet when most Christians pray, we get limited results,
rather than the constant breakthrough that is promised to us in God’s Word.

14
James 5:16 says;
“The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much (does much
good).” Italics are mine.
Also I Peter 3:12 says;
“For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto
their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.”
When you pray, you should not have to plead with God to move, for He said He
would, but often our unrighteousness, both due to sins of thoughts and actions
hinder Him from moving on our behalf.
When we get righteous (And today will be that day for you beloved child of
God), we will find that God’s power, the restoration of our dominion and the
Gifts of the Holy Spirit will just begin to flow in and through us, by way of Rivers
of Living Water, when we speak, when we sing, when we pray for the sick, when
we ask God for a miracle, when we speak forth the promises and Word of God.

Beloved, you are not waiting for God’s power, dominion or the
Gifts of the Holy Spirit, rather they are already here, waiting for
you to get righteous. Do It Today!

15
16
Faith To Activate And Operate In The Gifts Of
The Holy Spirit

Where is your mind? The reason that I ask this question is because you need
to be spiritually minded to truly have faith to operate in the Gifts of the Holy
Spirit. When we are spiritually minded we have life. Romans 8:1-6 says;
“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus,
who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the
law of sin and death.
For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God
sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned
sin in the flesh.
That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after
the flesh, but after the Spirit.
For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that
are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and
peace.”
If you desire to walk in spiritual things, then it is imperative that you begin to
make spiritual things your priority. Set it first in your mind.

Are You Desirous Of Spiritual Gifts?

Beloved child of God, you should be desirous of spiritual gifts. When a person
is spiritually minded they begin to be desirous of spiritual things. I Corinthians
14:1 says;
“Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may
prophesy.”
You should be seeking God, and asking Him to give you the spiritual gifts that
He knows is best for you. Begin to set your mind on the things of God and seek
the things of the Spirit, which will in turn manifest a blessing to people in the
natural.
Now it is important that you understand, that the purpose for your desire
of spiritual gifts is for the edifying (building up) of the Body Of Christ (The
Church). I Corinthians 14:12 says;
“Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may
excel to the edifying of the church.”
You must understand that the spiritual gifts are not for your personal use or
glory. These gifts are intended to build up or edify the Church of the Lord Jesus
Christ. Many miss the opportunity to function in these Gifts because of this

17
important point.
Our faith to operate in the Gifts of the Holy Spirit is increased when we are in
right standing (righteous) with God. Sin often hinders God from moving in our
lives, so repent of all sin and live holy. Yes you can do it! The Holy Spirit who
lives within you gives you the ability to live a holy life.

You Must Have Faith To Receive The Gifts.

Many don’t operate in the Gifts Of The Spirit, because they don’t have faith
to receive the Gifts. Like with any Gift, they can be rejected or received. If you
don’t believe that God is using the Church today in the Gifts Of The Holy Spirit,
then there is no need for you to ask, for you won’t receive. If you don’t believe
that God is going to give you the Gift that you are asking for, then there is no
need for you to ask, for you won’t receive. You must believe that God will give
you what you have asked, for it is God’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom
(Luke 12:32).

Don’t Neglect The Gift!

Another reason many don’t operate or have active Gifts in their lives, is
because they neglect the Gifts. I Timothy 4:14 says;
“Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with
the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.”
After you have identified the Gift(s) that the Holy Spirit has given you, it is
your responsibility to develop that Gift. You must not ignore the Gifts of the
Holy Spirit that are in you, for they will grow atrophy (become weak in spiritual
muscle). There are people that need the Gifts of the Holy Spirit that God has
given you. There are many that are in need of the Gifts of Healing, a revelatory
Word from God, a miracle, and more. It is your duty and responsibility to not
neglect the Gifts Of The Holy Spirit that are in you, for they are not for your
personal use, rather there are many who are in need and are waiting for you to
allow the Gifts to manifest through you.

Stay In Your Gifts And Callings

It is so easy for many of us to emulate or copy what someone else is doing
and having success in, but you should not do this. God has given the Body of
Christ diversity. God has given you Gifts that are distinctive to you, and they
will not operate the way another person’s Gifts operate. Neither is it wise to try
to operate in a Gift or calling that you know you do not have. Many Christians
do this because of pride. They feel if someone else is having success doing this,
then they are just as Anointed as them, which then causes them to step into
an area and/or Gift that God did not call them to function in. The Holy Spirit
dispenses these Gifts to us according to His will. I Corinthians 12:11 says;
“But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every
man severally as he will.”

18
Once you have identified the call and Gifts in your life, seek God’s wisdom and
direction regarding how to function in it. God will answer you, for His Word
says in Jeremiah 33:3;
“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty
things, which thou knowest not.”
Again, a lot of people fail and thus lose faith, because they are trying to
operate in the wrong Gift. Seek out the Lord to get clarity regarding the Gifts
and callings in your life, and then function in them.
You must be functioning in the right Gifts and calls to see increase from the
Lord. Many get frustrated and quit because the don’t see increase, supernatural
provisions and power in what they are doing. This is because they are trying
to operate in the wrong Gift or calling. Don’t let your heart lead you, or what
everyone else is doing, rather ask God and submit (tell Him that you are willing
to function in) what He has called you to do.

Activating the Gifts.

Many Christians have Gifts that are lying dormant in their lives. Most don’t
know how to activate these Gifts. In reality, we do not activate the Gifts of the
Holy Spirit by our own control; rather we become better conduits for the Holy
Spirit to pour His power through. The first thing that you can do to prepare the
way for the Holy Spirit to move in you, is cut off sin, worldliness and remove
distractions from your life. Get righteous (by repenting of all known and
unknown sin in your life), commit and dedicate yourself to the Lord God.
For those who do not have the Gifts of the Holy Spirit flowing in their lives,
one way they can receive them is through the laying on of hands. II Timothy
1:6 says;
“Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God,
which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.”
There can be an impartation of the Gifts or callings released by God through
His servants, or they can give instructions and lay hands by faith to stir up, or
activate the Gifts Of The Holy Spirit that may be lying dormant in someone’s life.
Romans 1:11 says;
“For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the
end ye may be established.”
Again beloved of God, you must stir up the Gifts (II Timothy 1:6). How do
you do this? You study about the Gifts (especially what the Word of God says
about them), thus building your faith, you praise God for them, you confess
that you have the Gifts according to the Word of God, you ask God to give you
opportunity to be used in them, and you function in them as the Lord gives you
the opportunity. Most importantly you stir up the Gifts of the Holy Spirit by
developing your faith to operate in them. Fear will steal the Gifts manifestation,
this is why immediately following II Timothy 1:6, which talks about stirring up
the Gifts, verse 7 speaks about the spirit in which the Gifts function, it reads;

19
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and
of a sound mind.”
Fear steals the power in which the Gifts of the Holy Spirit manifest, it steals the
atmosphere of love that they manifest in, and steals the discipline (sound mind)
that you need to operate in the Gifts Of The Holy Spirit.
Some Christians are afraid that when they ask God for a Gift of the Holy Spirit
that the enemy will instead give them something. These kinds of thoughts are
fearful. Know this, that every good Gift comes from God. James 1:17 says;
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down
from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of
turning.”

Strengthening Your Faith To Operate In The Gifts.

Your faith to operate in Spiritual Gifts is strengthened like a natural muscle.
You must exercise it, and over time, it is able to handle heavier weights. No
spiritual exercise, no strength in the Gifts. Know spiritual exercise, and know
the strength in the Gifts of the Spirit. Your time with God and doing those things
that I have stated earlier, regarding stirring up the Gifts, is what strengthens the
Spirit man or woman. Crucify the flesh and come alive to the Spirit of God,
who is the power behind the Gifts of the Spirit. The closer you are to God, the
greater your confidence and faith in Him, that He will minister through you in
the Gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Being Filled, Getting The Word, And Not Neglecting To Ask.

I can’t say this enough, you must have faith that God has given you these
Gifts and the authority to function in them (led by the Holy Spirit). There is an
experience that many Christians have not had, yet should seek, in order to move
mightily in the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, and that is the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.
Being baptized in the Holy Spirit seems to be the entranceway into moving in
the Gifts Of The Holy Spirit. After you have been baptized in the Holy Spirit, it
is important to stay filled with the Spirit. Often when we minister to someone,
whether sharing the Gospel with them or praying for them, we get depleted
through giving out spiritually, and we must spend time in prayer and in the
Word of God to get refilled.
It is also important to get what the Word of God says about the Gift(s) Of
The Holy Spirit that you have, or are seeking. Your faith to operate in these Gifts
comes by hearing the Word of God about these Gifts. Not only the Word of God
that tells you that they exist, but also reading about those Biblical people who
were used in those Gifts and how they were used. Romans 10:17 says;
“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
The faith you need to operate in these Gifts comes primarily by hearing the
Word of God regarding these Gifts.
Another thing that you should not neglect or take for granted is the need to

20
ask God for it. You should also ask to get clarity about the Gifts that you may
already have in your life. There is something that I want you to get in your spirit
today, and that is, if you have asked God for a Gift Of The Holy Spirit, then He
will either give it to you, show you what it is that is hindering that Gift from
operating in your life, or redirect your request to help you line up your petition
with His will. God does not lie (Numbers 23:19), if you have asked Him, then
He will do it. You must believe that God will do what He said He would do.
Matthew 7:7-11 says;
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be
opened unto you:
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him
that knocketh it shall be opened.
Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a
stone?
Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how
much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them
that ask him?”
If you have asked for a Gift, then expect that God will do it. Get into prayer
to hear what God wants to say to you regarding that Gift. Prepare yourself to
receive it, by listening and obeying the voice of the Holy Spirit.

The Gifts Require A Consistent And Strong Prayer Life.

Building a consistent and strong prayer life is usually a prerequisite to
activating the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. Why is this so? Because it is in constant
communion (through prayer) with God, that we are given the directions, and
instructions regarding these Gifts, and the use of them. Again, these Gifts
operate by the direction of the Holy Spirit. They are not your Gifts, rather Gifts
of the Holy Spirit. To see the Gifts manifested in their fullness, you must have
a relationship through prayer with God. It is at God’s direction, and in His will
that these Gifts operate successfully. God can tell you each step of the way how
He wants you to operate in a Gift. For example: with one person He may tell you
to lay your hands on them for healing, yet with another person He may tell you
not to pray for them, or He can give you a blanket statement to pray for healing
for everyone that you meet who are sick. These Gifts function by the direction
of the Holy Spirit, and prayer is the place where you get the instructions that
you need to operate in them. When you know how God wants to use you in the
Gifts, it increases your level of faith to operate in them.

Afflictions!
Often the Gifts of the Holy Spirit operate and function in times of affliction.
Don’t be afraid of affliction that comes for Christ sake. You see the Gifts of
the Holy Spirit is one way that the Lord God lifts up a standard against the

21
enemy, when he comes in like a flood. That flood usually contains some type of
affliction or persecution of God’s people. Isaiah 59:19 says;
“So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from
the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of
the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.”
It is the Spirit of the Lord, the Holy Spirit who often uses His Gifts (Gifts of
the Holy Spirit) to lift a standard that the enemy cannot reach. Miracles are
that standard, healings are that standard, revelatory Gifts are that standard, and
Utterance Gifts are that standard.
Often the greater the affliction, the greater the demonstration of God’s power
through His people.
II Timothy 1:8 says;
“Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his
prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to
the power of God;”
There is great afflictions that come with this Gospel, but there is also greater
power that accompanies it also.

You Must Minister The Gifts By Faith.

When you are ministering to someone, you must believe that God has given
you the authority to operate in that Gift, for it to function. Faith is the catalyst
that releases the Holy Spirits power in that Gift through you. Doubt is still the
prince of thieves, who will steal the results of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit that are
in your life.
The devil will try and challenge your faith. You must immediately cast down
every thought of doubt, unbelief, and fear regarding the operation of the Gifts
of the Holy Spirit that you are ministering in. Don’t listen to the enemy, rather
believe only what God says. If God’s Word says it, then its true. If His Word says
that these signs shall follow them that believe (many of these signs are results of
the Gifts of the Holy Spirit), then these signs will follow you as a believer.

If God’s Word says it, then it is so. ONLY BELIEVE AND THE GIFTS WILL
FLOW THROUGH YOU, BY THE DIRECTION OF THE HOLY SPIRIT!

The Word of Wisdom

The Word of Wisdom is one of three revelatory Gifts (Gifts that reveal
something). I Corinthians 12:8 says;
“For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom…”
The Webster’s New World Dictionary and Thesaurus (2nd Edition) defines
wisdom as the quality of being wise; good judgment. To judge, you must discern
(tell the difference between). The Word Of Wisdom is truth revealed by God
concerning things that are not known naturally, which gives a person the ability
to discern or tell the difference regarding something that has happened (either
something that has been shown them via a revelation or told them by God or
one of His agents). Wisdom is often needed to make crucial decisions.
When we talk about The “Word” of Wisdom, we must understand that
the employment or use of the word “word” implies that there is some kind of
communication or speech transpiring through this Gift of the Holy Spirit. This
communication or speech proceeds from God. The Word of Wisdom can be
receiving the wisdom of God, as well as discerning or interpreting the wisdom
and words of God that is spoken or communicated to others, as well one’s self.
The Word of Wisdom reveals God’s wisdom regarding a matter. This helps us
to discern or judge what should be done, as well as showing us the obstacles,
blessings, or other circumstances that we will encounter, if we do, or do not obey
the Word that is being communicated. The Word of Wisdom most often gives
information, but it can also give direction or proper judgment. In the book
of Genesis, Joseph speaks revelation to Pharaoh regarding his dreams. Joseph
explains to him that his two dreams are connected, he then tells him what they
mean, and gives him wisdom regarding how to prepare for what the dream
expressed would happen.

The Gifts Flow In Righteousness.

These Gifts of the Holy Spirit flow in righteousness (when we have right
standing with God.) Because of this we must check ourselves and stay in holiness,
keeping godly character, and repenting quickly when we sin. Because these
revelatory Gifts often flow in the night seasons through dreams and visions, it
is important that we repent of all known sin before going to sleep (this includes
being angry at someone without forgiving them, or settling it with them before
we go to sleep). Ephesians 4:22-32 says;
“That you put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is
corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness
and true holiness.
23
Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour:
for we are members one of another.
Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
Neither give place to the devil.
Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with
his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that
needeth.
Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which
is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day
of redemption.
Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be
put away from you, with all malice:
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even
as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”
When you do not release and forgive, regarding your anger, and you then go to
sleep with it, you leave open a doorway for the enemy to give you false dreams
and visions. Ephesians 4:22-32 gives us a basic guideline in staying righteous,
thus not impeding God‘s revelation to us.

The Great Revelatory Book.

Although the entire Bible offers revelation in most places, The Book of
Revelation (The Revelation Of Jesus Christ) expresses all three revelatory Gifts.
Its use of the Word of Wisdom is through the revealing of information pertaining
to what will happen, while giving wise instruction or God’s wisdom regarding
what to do about these things that will happen (especially to the 7 Churches.)

Revelatory Gifts Require A Strong Prayer Life.

It is important that if you have this Gift, you build a strong prayer life with
the Lord. This will enable you to know God’s voice and hear clearly what He is
directing you to do, above the clamor and busyness of each day. To hear the still
small voice of the Lord, it may require that you have times of quiet prayer. Do
not neglect this very important component of the Revelatory Gifts.

Biblical Operation Of The Word Of Wisdom

Old Testament Examples
Genesis 6:13-22 says;
“And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the
earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them
with the earth.
Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and
shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.
And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark

24
shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of
it thirty cubits.
A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it
above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower,
second, and third stories shalt thou make it.
And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy
all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing
that is in the earth shall die.
But with thee will I establish my covenant; an thou shalt come into the ark,
thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons’ wives with thee.
And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into
the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female.
Of the fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping
thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to
keep them alive.
And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to
thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them.
Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.”
God gave Noah a Word of Wisdom regarding what He was about to do unto the
earth, with the instructions for what He wanted Noah to do. Remember, the
Word of Wisdom is not just knowledge, but instructions regarding how to act
on, or what to do about that knowledge.
I Kings 17:12-16 says;
“And she said, As the Lord thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful
of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two
sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it,
and die.
And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make
me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee
and for thy son.
For thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste,
neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the Lord sendeth rain
upon the earth.
And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and
her house, did eat many days.
And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according
to the word of the Lord, which he spake by Elijah.”

The Lord spoke a Word of Wisdom through Elijah to the widow, regarding what
would happen, while yet instructing her in what to do.
II Kings 5:9-14 says;
“So Naaman came with his horses and with his chariots, and stood at the
door of the house of Elisha.

25
And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven
times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean.
But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will
surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the Lord his God,
and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.
Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters
of Israel? May I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away
in a rage.
And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the
prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it?
How much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean?
Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to
the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of
a little child, and he was clean.”
Elisha gave Naaman a Word of Wisdom regarding what to do about his illness.
Naaman’s obedience to that Word determined if he would be healed or not.

New Testament Examples

Acts 16:9-10 says;
“And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia,
and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.
And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into
Macedonia, assuredly gath-ering that the Lord had called us to preach the
gospel unto them.”
This vision gave Paul revelation and wisdom about a need, as well as direction to
go, by the man’s request to come to Macedonia and help them.
Acts 10:30-33 says;
“And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the
ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in
bright clothing.
And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in
remembrance in the sight of God.
Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he
is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he
cometh, shall speak unto thee.
Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art
come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things
that are commanded thee of God.”
Cornelius was visited by an Angel and given wisdom regarding directions to his
prayer request.

Combination Gifts.
It is common for a person who operates in one revelatory Gift to also operate

26
in the other two as well. For example: if you have the Gift Of Discerning Of
Spirits, God may give you a Word Of Wisdom also, so that you may know what
to do with the spirits that have been revealed to you. I have been blessed to
flow in the combination of revelatory Gifts, and I often find that when I have
awakened from a dream that two, and maybe all three revelatory Gifts were
functioning in the night season. Do not think it strange if this is occurring in
your life.
Just as the revelatory Gifts often operate as a combination or group, so God
may also, if He desires team you up with a specific person who may have another
type of Gift that may compliment yours, or may be needed to accompany yours.
God may also place you in a Church that opens a door for you to minister in the
Gift that you have. Remember, we are a collective body working together for
God’s purposes and not a solo act trying to achieve personal greatness.

You Must Submit The Operations Of Your Gift To The Holy Spirit.
If you have this Gift, then you should seek out the Lord’s wisdom regarding
how He wants you to operate in this Gift. God may have given you this Gift
to accompany a specific call on your life, or for the work (it does not matter if
you are called to be a minister, or if you are a regular lay person) that He has
given you. That work could be ministering the Word of Wisdom in Churches,
to leaders of government (like Joseph and Daniel), ministering it to individuals,
or in some other way that the Holy Spirit reveals to you. In any case submission
to the direction of the Holy Spirit is of utmost importance. If He tells you to
minister this Gift in one place and you determine that that is not what you want
to do, then you might find that the Gift will not function in your life. It may
be in you, but it is set to function in the right atmosphere and or place, so let
God lead you to who, where and what He wants you to Minister the Word of
Wisdom.

As The Holy Spirit Wills.

Your Gift does not have to operate every day, or in every situation, rather it
functions as the Holy Spirit wills. He may not reveal to you everything that you
think that He should. Sometimes things are too close to our hearts, and God
does not often show us, because in certain instances it may be more difficult to
subject our flesh and emotions to the Holy Spirit, especially if it has to do with
people who are close to our hearts. In these cases we might do what we think
is best, rather than what the Holy Spirit tells us. The more we submit to God in
every area of our life (flesh, emotions and thoughts), the greater the opportunity
of revelation through this spiritual Gift.

God’s Revelation To You Is Not For Everyone.

It is imperative that before you go and tell someone what the Lord has shown
you, that you first get directions from the Lord, regarding what He wants you to

27
say and to whom He wants you to say it to. Not everyone will be able to receive the
revelation that God has given you, either due to (spiritual immaturity, ignorance
regarding the function of God’s Gifts, rejection of what is being said because of a
dislike of how it makes them look, etc…). Here is a guideline for this, with each
revelation that God gives you regarding spiritual things, seek the Lord in prayer,
to learn if He is just telling you information, showing you something that He
wants you to tell someone, or showing you something that He wants you to seek
Him for further information and instructions as to what to do. God’s direction
is always best, so please take it to the Lord in prayer, always.

How The Word Of Wisdom Operates.

1. Through dreams.
2. Through Visions.
3. Through an audible voice (the Lord speaking aloud to you).
4. Through prayer, in which the Holy Spirit speaks to you His wisdom in a still
small voice (I Kings
19:12-13).
5. Through an Angelic emissary (Acts 10:30-32).

Some Ways That The Word Of Wisdom Is Administered.

1. God may give you the understanding and ability to interpret dreams and
visions through the Holy Spirit. The interpretation alone may give wisdom
regarding a matter. You may also administer the wisdom given in a dream by
giving Holy Spirit lead directions regarding what to do about the revelation
given in a dream or vision. Such was the case with Joseph who gives Pharaoh
wisdom regarding what to do about the famine that would be coming (Genesis
41:32-36).

2. You may be given a Word of Wisdom for a group of people and must declare
what they must do, such as Jonah’s declaration for Nineveh.

3. You can administer the Word of Wisdom by acting or doing what the Lord
revealed to you regarding what you should do through the Word of Wisdom
given you. This can be any actions that line up with the Word of God. God
could give you a Word of Wisdom regarding the Gifts of Healing, telling you to
take clay and put it on the eyes of a blind man which will cause him to see.
Your obedience to administer this word, by acting on what was shown or told
you in the revelation, will manifest the declaration of that Word of Wisdom.

28
The Word of Knowledge

The Word of Knowledge is one of three revelatory Gifts given by the Holy
Spirit. Nothing is hid from God in any place, or regarding any person, including
the thoughts and intents of each heart. Not only does God know everything, but
He is also a revealer of secret things. There are times when God will reveal to
me the intent behind a person’s actions, that on the surface seem good, but the
persons intent may not be what they have shown outwardly. These revelatory
Gifts help address hidden things that God often deals with through His servants
in some manner. Now God does not just go around sharing everybody’s
business, rather He is tactful in how He reveals secrets and to whom He reveals
them to. The three revelatory Gifts are often the vehicle that He uses to open up
the hidden things. I Corinthians 12:8 says;
“For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word
of knowledge by the same Spirit;”
The Greek word of knowledge is “gnosis” (pronounced gno-sis), meaning
science. For our study we will define science as understanding. The Webster’s
New World Dictionary and Thesaurus defines knowledge as the fact or state of
knowing, a range of information or understanding, and the body of facts.
The Word of Knowledge reveals God’s knowledge (information) regarding
something, some place, someone, etc.., that the person operating in this Gift most
often does not know naturally. This Gift reveals to the person who has it, what is
actually happening as it truly is in the eyes of God, or what is going to happen,
giving the person understanding. For example; a person may do something that
is strange, but God can give you a Word of Knowledge before they even do it, so
that you may understand what is truly happening. For example; I once dreamed
that a minister in my Church was going to leave, and that there were two or
three spirits that were convincing him to leave. When I had awakened from the
dream I wrote down the dream and put it in my wallet, to give to the minister
when they would come to me. Sometime later the minister came to me, to tell
me that they were going to leave the Church, and I had understanding why
already. I pulled the dream out of my wallet and gave it to them, and it shocked
them to know that God had already revealed to me the reason behind their
actions. This dream did not tell me what to do, but it gave me understanding of
what was happening.
The Word of Knowledge is different from the Word of Wisdom, in that
the Word of Knowledge may give you information about a certain thing, with
no direction regarding what to do about it, while the Word of Wisdom gives
revelation often with instruction or wisdom regarding how to act on the revealed
information. Knowledge is information; while wisdom helps you discern or
judge what to do or how to act upon information. The Word of Knowledge

29
could be what God knows about the future, past, or present, all of it is God’s
Knowledge and not God‘s wisdom.
As with all Spiritual Gifts, the Word of Knowledge flows or operates best in
righteousness. Right standing with God because of the blood of Jesus, gives
us the right to operate in the tools of dominion that God has given to man. I
believe that these spiritual Gifts are part of those tools of dominion that are
restored to those who repent of their sins and accept Jesus Christ as Lord and
Savior. All that Adam lost is now given back to those who have right standing
through Jesus Christ righteousness.

The Great Revelatory Book.

Although the entire Bible offers revelation in most places, The Book of
Revelation (The Revelation Of Jesus Christ) expresses all three revelatory Gifts.
Its use of the Word of Knowledge is through the revealing of information in
the mind of God that is revealed to John, and thus the Church pertaining to
what will happen, while not giving instructions as to what to do in each detail,
especially during the tribulation period.

Revelatory Gifts Require A Strong Prayer Life.

It is imperative that if you have this Gift that you build a strong prayer life with
the Lord. This will enable you to know God’s voice and hear clearly what He is
directing you to do, above the clamor and busyness of each day. To hear the still
small voice of the Lord, it may require that you have times of quiet prayer. Do
not neglect this very important component of the Revelatory Gifts.

Biblical Operations Of The Word Of Knowledge.

Old Testament Examples
Genesis 37:5-8 says;
“And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated
him yet the more.
And he said, unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have
dreamed:
For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose,
and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and
made obeisance to my sheaf.
And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? Or shalt
thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for
his dreams, and for his words.”
This dream gave Joseph information regarding what would happen, yet it never
told him how to make it happen. The Word of Knowledge gives you information
regarding what will happen or can happen that is in the mind of God. Joseph
had two similar dreams regarding his rise in authority and dominion over His
brothers, just like Pharaoh had two dreams regarding the famine, meaning that

30
it is established or going to happen. Sometimes we can get a Word of Knowledge
or Wisdom, regarding what may happen if we do certain things, but when we
receive a word about something twice, that means that it will definitely happen
or that it is established (Genesis 41:32 tells us this).

II Kings 5:21-27 says;

“So Gehazi followed after Naaman. And when Naaman saw him running
after him, he lighted down from the chariot to meet him, and said, Is all
well?
And he said, All is well. My master hath sent me, saying, Behold, even now
there be come to me from mount Ephraim two young men of the sons of
the prophets: give them, I pray thee, a talent of silver, and two changes of
garments.
And Naaman said, Be content, take two talents. And he urged him, and
bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of garments, and
laid them upon tow of his servants; and they bare them before him.
And when he came to the tower, he took them from their hand, and bestowed
them in the house: and he let the men go, and they departed.
But he went in, and stood before his master. And Elisha said unto him,
Whence comest thou, Gehazi? And he said, Thy servant went no whither.
And he said unto him, Went not mine heart with thee, when the man turned
again from his chariot to meet thee? Is it a time to receive money, and to
receive garments, and olive yards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and
menservants, and maidservants?
The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed
for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.”
Gehazi, Elisha’s servant lied to Naaman about the receiving of money and
garments. Then he lied to Elisha about what he had done, but the Word of
Knowledge was in operation in Elisha’s life, in which he had saw, most likely in
an open vision what Gehazi had done.

New Testament Examples

John 4:16-19 says;
“Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her,
Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy
husband: in that saidst thou truly.
The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.”
Jesus had a Word of Knowledge concerning this woman’s marital status. He
never gave her information regarding what to do about it, rather the Gift of the
Word of Knowledge gave proof to this woman that Jesus truly was a Prophet.

31
Acts 21:10-12 says;
“And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judaea a certain
prophet, named Agabus.
And when he was come unto us, he took Paul’s girdle, and bound his own
hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at
Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into
the hands of the Gentiles.
And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, besought
him not to go up to Jerusalem.”
The Holy Spirit never told Agubus to tell Paul how to avoid such a thing, for that
would have been a Word of Wisdom, rather it gave them information of what
would happen to Paul when he went to Jerusalem.

John 1:47-51 says;

“Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite
indeed, in whom is no guile!
Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and
said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig
tree, I saw thee.
Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God;
thou art the King of Israel.
Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee
under the fig tree, believest thou? Thou shalt see greater things than these.
And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see
heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son
of man.”
Jesus had a Word of Wisdom regarding something that Nathanael knew that
Jesus did not know naturally. Jesus had a Word of Knowledge (information)
regarding where Nathanael was at, and what he was doing.

You Must Submit The Operations Of Your Gift To The Holy Spirit.
If you have this Gift, then you should seek out the Lord’s wisdom regarding
how He wants you to operate in this Gift. God may have given you this Gift to
accompany a specific call on your life, or for the work (it does not matter if you
are called to be a minister, or if you are a regular lay person) that He has given
you. That work could be ministering the Word of Knowledge in Churches, to
leaders of government (like many of the Prophets), ministering it to individuals,
or in some other way that the Holy Spirit reveals to you. In any case submission
to the direction of the Holy Spirit is of utmost importance. If He tells you to
minister this Gift in one place and you determine that that is not what you want
to do,
then you might find that the Gift will not function in your life. It may be in you,
but it is set to function in the right atmosphere, and/or place, so let God lead

32
you to who, where and what He wants you to Minister the Word of Knowledge.

How The Word Of Knowledge Operates.

1. Through dreams.
2. Through Visions.
3. Through an audible voice (the Lord speaking aloud to you).
4. Through prayer, in which the Holy Spirit speaks to you His wisdom in a still
small voice (I Kings
19:12-13).
5. Through an Angelic emissary (Acts 10:30-32). Also Mary the mother of Jesus
(Luke 1:26-27).

Some Ways That The Word Of Knowledge Is Administered.

1. You may be required to share what you have been shown to those that the
Word of Knowledge applies to.
2. It may be administered as a warning of what is coming, such as in the Book
of Revelation.
3. It also may be administered as a revelation as to what someone had hid, that
has come to light, in essence rebuking someone (Elisha rebuked Gehazi with a
Word of Knowledge).

Gift of Discerning Of Spirits

Along with The Word Of Wisdom and The Word Of Knowledge, The Gift
Of Discerning Of Spirits is the third of the revelatory Gifts. It is no lesser in
importance than the other two. This Gift does reveal things, just as the other
two revelatory Gifts do, but differs, as each Gift does in function. I Corinthians
12:10 says;
“To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another
discerning of spirits;”
The Greek word for “discerning” is “diakrisis” (pronounced dee--ak-ree-sis)
meaning judicial estimation. It means judging of spirits. The word “spirits” in
the Greek is “pneuma” (pronounced
pnyoo-mah), meaning a current of air, or breath. It can refer to a human spirit,
angel, demonic spirit, or the Holy Spirit. From this we see that the Gift of
Discerning of Spirits is 4 fold.
Webster’s New World Dictionary and Thesaurus defines the word “discern” as
to perceive or recognize clearly. Those with the Gift of Discerning of Spirits can
perceive and recognize spirits clearly. This Gift can give the person in whom it
operates through, the ability to know who these spirits are, their function, and
purpose.

The Father Of All Spirits.

Although we don’t always understand the spiritual realm and the spirits that
function therein, we must be confident in the knowledge that God is the Father
of all spirits. Hebrews 12:9 says;
“Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we
gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the
Father of spirits, and live?”
No matter how threatening these spirits may seem, they are yet created beings,
and are under our God’s power!

Spiritual Identification.
The Gift of Discerning of Spirits gives you the ability to identify the spiritual
root behind issues, by unveiling the spirit realm. This allows you to see clearly
what the Lord wants you to see, regarding spiritual activity, that has to do with
the issue before you. For example: many sicknesses are caused by demonic
spirits, this Gift gives the possessor of it the ability to identify, if it is indeed
a spirit causing the sickness, and most often the identity of that spirit. When
operating in this Gift we must always remember that both angels and demons
(devils) are spirits. Psalms 104:4 says;
“Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:”
35
Revelations 16:14 (a clause) says;
“For they are the spirits of devils…”
Although the spirit realm was not supposed to be foreign to us, it yet seems to
be strange terrain for most Christians. Because of this, many are fearful of the
spirit realm and the beings that function therein. When you have the Gift of
Discerning of Spirits you should not be afraid of spirits, rather you should have
confidence and know that these spirits (demonic) are under your authority or
subject to you. Luke 10:17-20 says;
“And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are
subject unto us through thy name.
And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over
all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
God the Son (Jesus Christ) declared that He has given you power or authority
over all the power of the enemy, so don‘t be fearful of what you have jurisdiction
over. If you have this Gift and also have an understanding of your authority,
then you become a great threat to the enemy’s kingdom, and these demonic
spirits begin to hide and run from you.

What Is Trying A Spirit?

When you are dealing with spiritual discernment and you are not sure the
root of a spirit (knowing if it is of God or the devil), then you must try the spirit
to know from who it is from. You do this by simply asking them “Did Jesus
Christ come in the flesh?” There are certain dynamics built into the fabric of
the spirit realm that makes what seems complex simple, such as with this basic
question. In our natural mind we can think that the spirit can lie to deceive
us, but the laws of the spirit realm demand that they give a statement of their
rebellion, by declaring that Jesus did not come in the flesh, or not being able to
say that he did. I John 4:1-3 says;
“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of
God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus
Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is
not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it
should come; and even now already is it in the world.”

We Need The Manifestation Of This Gift In Today’s Society.

One of the biggest problems in society today is the unseen demonic activity.
The very behavior of most people is influenced heavily by demonic spirits,
causing many to turn away from the Lord, as well as making many sick to the
point of premature death. Beloved, God is raising up men and women who will
be knowledgeable of their spiritual tools, have faith, and are righteous, who will

36
go forth without apology or fear, discerning the activity of demonic spirits and
casting them out with a word, the Word of God. Beloved, seek ye the best Gifts.
Ask God for this Gift, for it is needed in this hour.

How Can We Cast Out Spirits If We Have Not Discerned Their Operations?
Demonic spirits have established strongholds in the lives of many people, in
many communities, cities, nations, and ethnic groups, but how can we set them
free if we have not discerned or judged their operations? This Gift not only gives
a person discernment on a personal level, judging spirits that are operating in
individual people, but it can also give insight or discernment of spiritual activity
in territories and groups of people (this includes families, your job, etc..). To set
these people and places free, we sometimes must discern or judge what demonic
spirits we are dealing with. Jesus both discerned what spirits were in operations
and cast them out. Mark 1:23-26 says;
“And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he
cried out,
Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth?
Art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of
God.
And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him.
And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he
came out of him.”
As with this account, there are many accounts wherein Jesus identified through
discernment the operation of a spirit and He called them by their function,
casting them out.

To Minister Peace Of Mind.

This Gift can often be used to bring peace of mind to God’s children regarding
what is happening in the spiritual realm on their behalf. Sometimes God may
allow you to see the Angelic Host functioning in the spirit realm, to give you,
or another person, group, or nation, that you have been called to minister to, a
peace that His agents are at work to solve or remedy a problem. In this case, you
would have both the Word Of Knowledge and Discerning Of Spirits operating.
As with all Spiritual Gifts, Discerning of Spirits flows or operates best in
righteousness. Right standing with God, because of the blood of Jesus, gives
us the right to operate in the tools of dominion that God has given to man. I
believe that these spiritual Gifts are part of those tools of dominion, that are
restored to those who repent of their sins and accept Jesus Christ as Lord and
Savior. All that Adam lost is now given back to those who have right standing
through Jesus Christ righteousness.

Revelatory Gifts Require A Strong Prayer Life.

It is imperative that if you have this Gift, that you build a strong prayer life

37
with the Lord. This will enable you to know God’s voice and hear clearly what
He is directing you to do, above the clamor and busyness of each day. To hear
the still small voice of the Lord, it may require that you have times of quiet
prayer. Do not neglect this very important component of the Revelatory Gifts.

Biblical Operations Of The Gift Of Discerning Of Spirits.

Old Testament Examples
Joshua 5:13-15 says;
“And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes
and looked, and behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword
drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou
for us, or for our adversaries?
And he said, Nay: but as captain of the host of the Lord am I now come. And
Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What
saith my lord unto his servant?
And the captain of the Lord’s host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off
thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.”
I believe the Captain of the Lord’s Host is Jesus.

Exodus 33:20-23 says;

“And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me,
and live.
And the Lord said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon
a rock:
And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a
cleft of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:
And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back part: but my
face shall not be seen.”
Moses was afforded the great privilege to look into the spirit realm and see the
hind parts of God Himself.

Genesis 28:10-13 says;

“And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran.
And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because
the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his
pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.
And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it
reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending
on it.
And, behold, the Lord stood above it, and said, I am the Lord God of
Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to
thee will I give it, and to thy seed;”
Here we have the Gift Of Discerning Of Spirits operating in a dream, revealing

38
the activities of the Angels and giving the promises of God afresh to Jacob.
II Kings 6:16-17 says;
“And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that
be with them.
And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see.
And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the
mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.”

God opened the spiritual eyes of Elisha’s servant, so that he would be able to
see that the armies of the Lord that were not visible with the natural eye, far
exceeded in number the Syrian army that had come against them.

New Testament Examples

Luke 13:11-13 says;
“And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen
years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.
And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman,
thou art loosed from thine infirmity.
And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and
glorified God.”
Jesus discerned that this woman’s sickness was not natural, rather it was a spirit
of infirmity that had caused her to not be able to lift herself up.

Matthew 17:1-5 says;

“And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and
bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,
And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his
raiment was white as the light.
And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.
Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if
thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses,
and one for Elias.
While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold
a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am
well pleased; hear ye him.”
Not only were the disciples able to see Moses, who was a spirit (for his body had
been buried by the Lord), but they were able to discern who Moses and Elijah
were, having never met them, nor ever seeing a picture of them, or being told
who they were. This Gift cause you to also have the ability to identify the spirit
who is there.

Acts 27:23-25 says;

“For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom

39
I serve,
Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God
hath given thee all them that sail with thee.
Wherefore, sirs, be of cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was
told me.”
The Apostle Paul had an Angelic visitation, which gave him confidence and
peace that God was going to bring him, as well as all the others on the boat with
him, through their ordeal.

Combination Gifts.
It is common for a person who operates in one revelatory Gift to also operate
in the other two as well.

God may have given you this Gift to
accompany a specific call on your life, or for the work (it does not matter if you
are called to be a minister, or if you are a regular lay person) that He has given
you. That work could be ministering in churches, holding deliverance services,
ministering deliverance to those who have addictions and habits (drugs, alcohol,
sexual addictions, pornography, stealing, etc..), both to the individual, as well as
collective groups. He may call you to discern and bring deliverance to a specific
kind of demonic oppression, such as with mental illness. As you submit your
Gift to God, He will make things clear and direct you.

As The Holy Spirit Wills.

As I have stated with the other revelatory Gifts, your Gift does not have to
operate every day, or in every situation, rather it functions as the Holy Spirit
wills. He may not reveal to you everything that you think that He should.
Sometimes things are too close to our hearts, and God does not often show us,
because in certain instances it may be more difficult to subject our flesh and

40
emotions to the Holy Spirit, especially if it has to do with people who are close
to our hearts. In these cases we might do what we think is best, rather than
what the Holy Spirit tells us. The more we submit to God in every area of our
life (flesh, emotions and thoughts), the greater the opportunity of revelation
through this spiritual Gift.

God’s Revelation To You Is Not For Everyone.

It is imperative that before you go and tell someone what the Lord has shown
you, that you first get directions from the Lord, regarding what He wants you to
say and to whom He wants you to say it to.

This Gift is important for those with or seeking Evangelistic Ministries (or
any ministry that requires deliverance), intercession ministry (as with Daniel)
helping us know what to pray, with Apostles, Prophets, Pastors, etc.., helping
them to know what spirits or spiritual hindrances are in a place (territory) or
person that they may be required to minister to, or in.

How Discerning Of Spirits Operates.

1. Through dreams.
2. Through visions.
3. Through an audible voice (the Lord speaking aloud to you).
4. Through your knowledge of the Word, in which the Holy Spirit calls it back
to your remembrance, thus giving you the ability to identify spirits by the Word
of God.
5. Through intercession and prayer. Revelation often comes in prayer through
God’s still small voice that speaks to the inner man or woman.

Some Ways That Discerning Of Spirits Is Administered.

1. Speaking to the people that the revelation of discernment of spirits pertains
to, or is about.
2. This Gift is often administered with power, through the casting out of spirits
with the Word of God. (Matthew 8:16 and Mark 16:17-18)
3. Praying to God regarding deliverance.
4. Binding and loosing. Binding demonic entities and loosing the Angelic Host
to work on the behalf of God’s people and God’s purposes. Matthew 16:19.

The Gift of Faith

The Gift of Faith is the first of three power Gifts (Gifts that do something).
The Gifts OF the Working Of Miracles and The Gifts Of Healing are the others.
I Corinthians 12:9 (a clause) says;
“To another faith by the same Spirit;”
To fully gain an understanding of the Gift Of Faith we must examine the word
“Faith.” The word “Faith” in the Greek is “Pistis” (pronounced pis-tis), which is
derived from the Greek word “Peitho” (pronounced pi-tho) meaning to persuade
or persuasion. Pistis means assurance, belief or faith. This faith means that you
are persuaded and have a strong conviction regarding what you are expecting
from God. The Webster’s New World Dictionary and Thesaurus defines faith as;
unquestionable belief in reference to God, complete trust or confidence.
There several different types of faith:
1) Basic or simple faith- Every believer gets a measure of faith. Romans 12:3
says;
“For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among
you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think
soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”
Every person has been given a simple or basic ability to believe God.
2) Saving Faith- This faith is needed to come to salvation through Jesus Christ.
Romans 10:8-10 says;
“But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy
heart: that is, the That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead,
thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth
confession is made unto salvation.”
The Gift Of faith is different from these types of faith. The Gift of Faith is the
ability to believe God for the impossible or miraculous, when no natural way is
possible. It is a supernatural act of God on behalf of the possessor of this Gift.
God moves in a miraculous way through the faith of the person who has this
Gift.
Those with this Gift have a supernatural confidence in God, that He will meet
their needs or request, regardless of the natural impossibilities that it looks like
from a human or earthly perspective. Let’s use the Gift of Faith in a scenario
for salvation. Here is an example: When you believe God for the salvation of
a person (salvation is a miracle of spiritual resurrection) who does not think
they need God and lives their life for total physical pleasure, who has been told
of Christ salvation and has constantly rejected it, then if you have the Gift Of
Faith, you can believe God, that no matter what that person might be saying,
43
God is yet going to bring them to complete salvation. This person will see the
manifestation of salvation in the life of who they believe God for, for God will
work miracles on behalf of their faith.

As An Evidence Of God.
This is a supernatural Gift Of Faith, which is given to believe God for the
miraculous, usually for provision, and security while a person is in God’s service,
and not just a regular faith to believe God for personal wants and desires. This
Gift can be used for oneself as the Holy Spirit leads, but is most often used for
public ministry, both for the believer and unto the unbeliever. This is the kind
of faith that can move mountains, I Corinthians 13:2 says;
“And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand mysteries, and all
knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains,
and have not charity, I am nothing.”
This scripture was referring to the Spiritual Gift OF Faith, which gives the
possessor of it, the ability to move mountains. Although all believers can have
mountain moving faith at any given time, through the developing of their faith,
this Gift gives it to the believer for the service of the Lord.
This Gift is a demonstrative Gift, and gives irrevocable proof regarding
who God is, and His ability to do the impossible without any human help or
intervention. If you desire this Gift, then you should understand that the person
who has or seeks this Gift, must have strong Godly character and spiritual
maturity, giving them the ability to never accept credit for what God has done,
rather always attributing the results of this Gift to the Lord God.

The Difference Between Two Similar Gifts.

The Gift of Faith and the Gift of the Working of Miracles seem to be similar
Gifts, both causing the miraculous to happen. Although they are similar in
results, they differ in operations. The Gift Of Faith does nothing to receive a
miracle, while the Gift Of The Working Of Miracles does exactly what it says, it
works (does an action) to cause a miracle. The Gift of Faith receives a miracle,
while the Gift of the Working of Miracles causes, by some Holy Spirit directed
action, a miracle to happen. God does the miraculous for those with the Gift
of Faith.

Gifts Often Work Together.

Quite often the three power Gifts operate in tandem (together), as well as
with other Gifts. For example: When someone is resurrected from the dead, it
requires the Gift Of Faith, but it can also involve a miraculous action (The Gift
Of The Working Of Miracles), as well as healing the person who had died of
whatever sickness that caused their death, in which case the Gifts Of Healing
would manifest. Now the revelatory Gifts can also give the person the ability
to discern the will of God regarding the resurrection of this person. You don’t

44
always have to regularly operate in a particular Gift for God to sometimes
manifest that Gift in your life. God can turn a Gift on in your life, as the need
for that Gift in a particular circumstance may arise. If no one is available to
minister with you, who has a Gift that is needed to accomplish God’s will in a
matter, then God can, and will, at His discretion, allow that Gift to operate in
your life for His glory.

Biblical Operations Of The Gift Of Faith.

Old Testament Examples
Daniel 6:19-23 says;
“Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste unto the
den of lions.
And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel:
and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is
thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?
Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever.
My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions’ mouths, that they have
not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocence was found in me; and also
before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.
Then was the king exceeding glad for him, and commanded that they should
take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no
manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God.”
Daniel did nothing here to cause a miracle to happen, but believed in God, and
God caused a miracle to transpire.

Daniel 3:14-26 says;

“Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach
and Abed-nego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image
which I have set up?
Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute,
harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of music, ye fall down
and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye
shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and
who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, answered and said to the king, O
Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.
If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning
fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.
But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor
worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was
changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego: therefore he spake,
and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more

45
than it was wont to be heated.
And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, and to cast them into the burning fiery
furnace.
Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats,
and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery
furnace.
Therefore because the king’s commandment was urgent, and the furnace
exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach,
Meshach, and Abed-nego.
And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, fell down bound
into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.
Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and
spake, and said unto his counselors, Did not we cast three men bound into
the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.
He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of
the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of
God.
Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace,
and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, ye servants of the
most high God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego, came forth of the midst of the fire.”
These three men put their faith in God’s supernatural ability to deliver them
from this seemingly impossible circumstance. They had never seen God deliver
anyone from this kind of dilemma, yet they had a level of supernatural faith
and trust in God, to expect His divine intervention. I must address this, can
you imagine the expression of the king and his counselors, when they saw them
and Jesus walking in the midst of this inferno, with no harm coming to them.
When the King saw that there was a power greater than his own, he began to
pay homage to the God of these three Hebrew men, by calling Him the most
high God.

New Testament Examples

John 6:9-13 says;
There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but
what are they among so many?
down, in number about five thousand.
And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to
the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of
the fishes as much as they would.
When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments
that remain, that nothing be lost.
Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the

46
fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto
them that had eaten.”
The multiplication of the food was a divine act of God, caused by Jesus’ faith.

Matthew 17:14-21 says;

“And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain
man, kneeling down to him, saying,
Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is a lunatic, and sore vexed: for ofttimes
he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.
And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how
long shall I be with you? How long shall I suffer you? Bring him hither to
me.
And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was
cured from that very hour.
Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him
out?
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you,
If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain,
Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be
impossible unto you.
Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.”
Jesus declared to the disciples that the casting out of this devil was a faith issue.
He then began to declare to them that they could have the mountain moving
faith, which I believe is the Gift of Faith. Beloved, just ask the Lord for this Gift.
Don’t sit back in awe, wishing you could have it, ask and it shall be given you.

Acts 20:9-12 says;

“And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being
fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with
sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.
And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not
yourselves; for his life is in him.
When he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten,
and talked a long while, even till break of day, so he departed.
And they brought the young man alive, and were not a little comforted.”
Paul did nothing to cause this young man to come back to life, but God touched
him causing Paul to have the opportunity to break bread, rather than bury a
broken person. Our God is awesome and I delight in Him!
I believe that this Gift can be prepared for, strengthened and further developed
through knowledge of the Word of God. Romans 10:17 says;
“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
This is also true for greater levels of supernatural faith.

47
A Strong Prayer Life.
As with all Gifts of the Holy Spirit a strong prayer life is necessary to help
you to understand and know what God wants you to do with these Gifts. They
are not to be operated as you will, rather as He (God) wills, and to know the
will of God you must be in His presence. The more you stay in God’s presence,
the grater He can manifest these Gifts in your life. If you do not seek His face
regarding the operation of these Gifts, you will find that they will operate only
at a minimal level.

The Basis Of Righteousness.

The basis whereby you can believe God for the miraculous through the Gift
Of Faith is twofold. It is because of God’s Word and Christ righteousness that
is bestowed upon you the believer in Christ. If God’s Word says it, and you are
in right standing with God (sinless because you have repented of your sin and
been forgiven through the shed blood of Jesus Christ), then you have the right
to expect God to do all that His Word says, no matter how impossible it may
seem to the natural mind. As with all Gifts Of The Holy Spirit, the Gift Of Faith
operates best in righteousness (when we have repented of any sin in our lives
and are in right standing with God, because He has forgiven us, due to Jesus
Christ sacrifice, in which He took your sins and gave you His righteousness or
right standing with God.)
Beloved, please understand that this Gift is often for the greater levels of the
work of the Lord. When I say greater levels of God’s work, I do not mean greater
in size, rather greater in magnitude of impact. You may be called to impact one
person, who in turn will impact a generation, country or ethnic group. Greater
levels of God’s work, is not defined by size, rather by obedience to purpose.
You should seek the Gift of Faith if you have or are desirous of:
1) A deliverance ministry (casting out spirits), both individual deliverance, as
well as, territorial spiritual warfare. If you do not have the Gift of Discerning of
Spirit, you cannot see them and you will need faith to accomplish God’s will of
casting spirits out of people, and places.
2) A resurrection ministry. God is rising up people of faith who will operate in
this kind of ministry. These people will cause the world to know that the Lord,
He is God.
3) An intercession ministry.
4) Any ministry that will depend on God for supernatural provisions.
Beloved do not take for granted asking God for this wonderful and miraculous
Gift.

How The Gift Of Faith Operates.

1. Through prayer.
2. Through praise.

48
3. Through petition (asking or requesting from the Lord).
4. God can show you a vision or dream, or He can give you a word to establish
what He wants you to believe for.

Some Ways That The Gift Of Faith Is Administered.

1. It is also administered through prayer. Perhaps praying with those who are
involved regarding what the Lord wants to accomplish.
2. Patient waiting for the manifestation, as well as encouraging others to be
faithful in their waiting.
3. Speaking the promises of God for the situation.
4. Encouraging others to believe that God will do what He said, based on His
Word, the Holy Bible.

The Gift Of The Working Of Miracles

The Gift of the Working of Miracles is the second of three power Gifts (Gifts
that do something). The Gifts Of Faith being the first and The Gifts Of Healing
is the other. I Corinthians 12:10 says;
“To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another
discerning of spirits;”
When we are endeavoring to understand this Gift, we must ask “What is a
miracle?” A Miracle is an extraordinary event manifesting a supernatural work
of God. The Greek word for miracle is “dunamis” (pronounced doo-nam-is). The
word “dunamis” is derived from the word “dunamai” (pronounced doo-nam-
ahee), meaning to be able, or to make possible, and to be of power. When Jesus
said that, with God all things are possible (Matthew 19:26), He was declaring
and saying, that all things could be done because of the miracle working power
of God. We know this because the word that Jesus used for “possible” was the
Greek word “dunatos”, which is taken from the word “dunamis”. So when Jesus
said that with God all things were possible, He was actually saying, that with
God all things are miracle power. God’s miracle power makes all things possible.
Now the Greek word “dunamis” means force, miraculous power, abundance,
might, power, strength, violence, mighty (wonderful) work. Dunamis is violent,
because it takes by force, from the enemy. The Webster’s New World Dictionary
And Thesaurus defines a miracle as an event or action that apparently contradicts
known scientific laws. It can be a marvel or supernatural occurrence.
Because this Gift is not the Gifts of Miracles, rather the Gift Of The Working
Of Miracles, we must also define and gain an understanding of the word
“working.” For this I will again use the Greek language into which it was
written. The Greek word for “working” is “energema” (pronounced en-erg-ay-
mah), meaning operation, working or active. This word has in it, the root word
“energeia”, in which we get our word energy. Energy is derived from action. So
the Working of Miracles is actions that bring about the miraculous force, power,
and wonderful works of God.

The Norm In God’s Kingdom.

The atmosphere in God’s Kingdom is established in His power. This makes
miracles normal in God’s Kingdom. When you gave your heart to Jesus, you
received God’s Kingdom, thus the miraculous power of God, which is ever
present in His Kingdom through the Holy Spirit. This Gift allows the person
with it, to take miracles, which is the norm in Heaven, and release it into the
natural realm. Your God is a supernatural God, who will do miraculous exploits
through you.

51
.xcedcfv
It’s In Obedience.
When you work or act in faith, by following the instructions that God has told
you, then your work or action in faith causes a miracle to happen. You work, or
act in obedience and God causes the miracle to happen by His power and might.
The obedient actions of the person with this Gift, causes God’s supernatural
power to be released. Again, the Gift of the Working of Miracles is released
through an act of obedience to God’s directions. If you do not work, or act as
the Lord instructs, then there will be no miracle released.
Your obedience to act, or work as God directs, releases your faith for God to
send a miracle, and for you to grab hold or pull the miracle into manifestation.
Remember, if God tells you to take an action (in essence do a work) for a miracle,
then do it, for He often requires your work (action) to release the miraculous
provision to meet whatever need that may be before you.

Restoring Order Through Righteousness.

The Gift of the Working of Miracles, as with many other Gifts, is used to
restore God’s order. For example; it is out of order (God did not design it this
way) for a child to die, or any one to die prematurely, unless it is through an act
of blatant disobedience to God. The Gift of the Working of Miracles, through the
direction of the Holy Spirit can cause Godly order to be re-established through
the miracle of resurrection.
The Gifts of the Holy Spirit as a whole, work through righteous men and
women under God, who affords them to collectively seize dominion back from
the enemy. We (the Body Of Christ) when submitted to God, function as a
righteous collective, moving by the will of God and through the power of the
Holy Spirit, cause the dominion that Adam had individually, to function through
us collectively. Only one person in the Body of Christ has the full measure of
the Holy Spirit individually, Jesus Christ. We who collectively make up the Body
of Christ are afforded a part of that dominion or a measure of the Holy Spirit.
When we function in love towards God, ourselves (the Church), and humanity,
we afford ourselves the opportunity to function or operate in greater measures
of the Holy Spirit, which in turn brings about greater results. This is why Jesus
asked the Father to make us one (John 17:20-23). That oneness causes a greater
measure of miracles, healing, revelation, utterance, etc…

Various Types of Miracles.

There are many types of miracles that fall into several categories. Some of
these categories are miracles of healing (creative miracles), miracles over the
elements (the parting of the Red sea, fire coming down from Heaven at Elijah’s
word, Jesus rebuking the winds and the waves), miracles over materials (the
falling of the walls of Jericho), miracles of provisions (Jesus feeding over 5000
people with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish, the widows cruse of meal and oil did
not run out with Elijah), miracles that change the composition of things (Jesus

52
turned the water into wine), miracles of resurrection, and special miracles
(handkerchiefs and aprons were anointed for healing and deliverance by Paul
the Apostle), and more. Some miracles are the result of an action involving
the spirit realm. Binding and loosing can cause miracles to happen, due to the
release that it causes in the spirit realm, through this action. Although casting
out or binding spirits require faith, it is often the working of a miracle, due to the
vocal action of commanding them to leave.
For those who have this Gift or seek it, it is important that you gain an
understanding that the need for miracles is usually an outgrowth of some crisis.
If you have this Gift you should be prepared to experience and see crisis on a
regular basis, for it is through these issues that God releases this Gift to function
in you. Often this is how many identify that they have this Gift, when they begin
to see crisis after crisis, issue after issue arising. This may be happening to you
and around you, to cause you to begin to seek God’s wisdom in exercising this
Gift.

Biblical Operations Of The Gift Of The Working Of Miracles.

Old Testament Examples
Exodus 14:15-16 & 21-29 says;
15“And the Lord said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? Speak
unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:
16But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and
divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst
of the sea.
21And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the
sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land,
and the waters were divided.
22And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry
ground: and the waters
were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
23And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the
sea, even all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.
24And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the Lord looked unto the
host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled
the host of the Egyptians,
25And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave heavily: so that the
Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the Lord fighteth for
them against the Egyptians.
26And the Lord said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that
the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and
upon their horsemen.
27And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to
his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it;

53
and the Lord overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.
28And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen,
and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained
not so much as one of them.
29But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea;
and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.”
God required Moses to work a miracle, by stretching out his rod over the sea.
That act of obedience moved the hand of God to empower the action.

II Kings 2:19-22 says;

“And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, I pray thee, the situation
of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is naught, and the
ground barren.
And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought
it to him.
And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there,
and said, Thus saith the Lord, I have healed these waters; there shall not be
from thence any more death or barren land.
So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the saying of Elisha
which he spake.”
The poisonous waters were healed through Elisha working a miracle.

II Kings 17:18-22 says;

“And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God?
Art thou come unto me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son?
And he said unto her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom,
and carried him up into a loft, where he abode, and laid him upon his own
bed.
And he cried unto the Lord, and said, O Lord my God, hast thou also brought
evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?
And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the
Lord, and said, O Lord my God, I pray thee, let this child’s soul come into
him again.
And the Lord heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into
him again, and he revived.”
Elijah acted or worked a Miracle by laying upon the child three times. This had
also in it the Gift of Faith, for He believed God to send the child’s soul back into
his body.

New Testament Examples

Mark 4:35-41 says;
“And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass
over unto the other side.

54
And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in
the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.
And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that
it was now full.
And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow:and they awake
him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And
the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? How is it that ye have no
faith?
And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is
this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”
Jesus worked a miracle by rebuking the wind and speaking to the sea to be at peace
and still. His words were the actions behind this miracle.

Acts 16:16-18 says;

“And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed
with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by
soothsaying:
The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants
of themost high God, which show unto us the way of salvation.
And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the
spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he
came out the same hour.”
Paul’s words were the actions that worked a miracle of deliverance. He spoke in
the name of Jesus Christ and the spirit of divination in the woman had to obey.
Remember, he never spoke to the woman, rather he spoke to the spirit in the
woman.
As we have seen through the examples that I have given above, the Gift of the
Working of Miracles is not limited to a physical work or action, but it also includes
the actions of words, such as speaking to the dead to arise, or speaking to the
winds to be still. Yes, the Gift of Faith is often in operation with the Gift of the
Working of Miracles in many instances, but the action, whether a physical action
or spoken words are both The Working Of Miracles.

As with all the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, I want to reiterate that they function
with accuracy, when we, who posses these Gifts, have a strong prayer life, or are in
communication with God on a regular basis.

This Gift Operates By God’s Direction.

God instructs you what to do to work a miracle, and its not just something
that you make up (Exodus 14:15-16). God will instruct you either in prayer,
through a still small voice, or He may show you in a revelation through a dream

55
or vision, what He wants you to do to work a miracle. Stay in His presence to get
His directions.
God may use you to administer this Gift in many different ways, or He may have
one particular way that He wants you to administer this Gift each time.

How The Gift Of The Working Of Miracles Operates.

1. God can reveal to you through an audible voice, the still small voice or through
the revelatory Gifts (dreams, and visions) His directions for the use of this Gift.
2. God can allow situations to arise in your life, or in those lives around you, that
have no other solution, but a miracle, that He leads you to work.
Some Ways That The Gift Of The Working Of Miracles Is Administered.
1. It can be administered through a physical action, or work that the Holy Spirit
directs the person with this Gift to do.
2. It can be administered through a spoken word by the person possessing this
Gift, through the direction of the Holy Spirit. For example: the rebuking of the
winds and the waves and casting out spirits with a word.
3. You can administer a miracle through praying with people. It can be binding
the enemy, or loosing God’s provisions where needed. Your binding or loosing is
the work or action needed to release a miracle.
4. You can speak the Word of God over a situation to work a miracle.

Remember, God is the miracle worker, and you are His instrument that He uses to
manifest the miracle in the earth. I believe that God wants to release miracles in
the land through His people.

56
The Gifts of Healing

The Gifts of Healing is the third of three power Gifts (Gifts that do something).
The Gifts of Faith being the first and The Gift of the Working of Miracles is the
second. I Corinthians 12:9 says;
“To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the
same Spirit;”
Before we progress further into this lesson, we must gain an understanding of
the word healing. The Greek word for healing is “iama” (pronounced ee-am-ah),
meaning cure, to effect a cure or healing. This word comes from the root word
“iaomai” (pronounced ee-ah-om-ah-ee), meaning to make whole. The Gifts of
Healing purpose is to both effect a cure and make people whole, regarding sickness,
infirmity or disease. The Webster’s New World Dictionary And Thesaurus defines
“heal” as to make or become well or healthy again; to cure (a disease), mend, as
a wound. It can also mean restore, renew, fix, repair, regenerate, make healthy,
remedy, revive, rebuild, resuscitate, etc..

A Pluralistic Gift.
The Gifts Of Healing is a pluralistic Gift, meaning that there are many types
of healing Gifts in this one Gift. I believe that sin and sickness is not greater in
magnitude (power) or in multitude (number) than righteousness and healing.
This causes me to believe that for every sickness that Adam’s original sin caused,
Jesus Christ righteousness gives a cure for. So when we ask “how many Gifts of
Healing are there?” I can say with confidence, that for every sickness and infirmity
that exists, there is a Gift of Healing to remedy and cure them. I believe that there
are Gifts Of healing for every blood disease, every form and cause of paralysis,
for deafness and muteness, every form and cause of mental illness, for palsies, for
every disease, for the lame, for bone and muscle disorders, for fevers, blindness,
deformities, seizures and every sickness known or unknown to man. The devils
wickedness cannot outdo God’s goodness, which He often expresses through
healing.

The Root Of Sickness And God’s Design.

The root of all sickness is sin, and so the root to cure sickness is righteousness
through Jesus Christ. There was no sickness in the world until Adam sinned.
Adam’s sin caused death to the natural man and eternal separation from God
(spiritual death). Sickness is deaths agent, sent to bring into manifestation the
ultimate goal of death for all humanity. Righteousness through Jesus Christ is
God’s agent to bring eternal life and along with it, health. Jesus often told people
to go and sin no more lest a worse thing come upon them. John 5:14 says;
“Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou
57
art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.”
Sin is the root cause for sickness.
God in His infinite wisdom had prepared for the eventuality of sin and the
sickness that it would bring, when He designed man. When God created the
human body He placed in it the ability for it to heal itself, yet the abundance of
sin caused the decay of this restorative process, often causing certain death for
those with some sicknesses. This was not God’s plan. God had planned for man’s
healing from the beginning, but that ability to be healed was based in righteousness,
which sin stole, but Jesus Christ restored. Please know that God is the healer of all
diseases. Psalms 103:1-3 says;
“Blessed the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy disease;”
God often uses the Gifts Of Healing to heal all the diseases of mankind.

The Full Manifestation Of The Gifts.

Jesus had the full manifestation of The Gifts of Healing. We know this because
the Word of God (the Holy Bible) says in Matthew 4:23 says;
“And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching
the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner
of disease among the people.”
Matthew 9:35 gives further evidence, it reads;
“And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues,
and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every
disease among the people.”
Jesus had the Spirit of God without measure. He had all of the Gifts Of Healing
operating in His life, but we the Church get a measure of what Jesus had.

You May Have More Than One.

You may have one or more of the Gifts Of Healing operating in your life. This is
determined by the Holy Spirit, who gives the various Gifts based on what God the
Father has called you to do, and who He has called you to minister to.
Not only may you have more than one of the Gifts Of Healing, but God may use
you to administer the Gifts in many different ways, or He may have one particular
way that He wants you to administer this Gift each time. For example: If you have
a Gift to heal blind people, God may use you to administer this Gift by touching
their eyes and saying, “be open.” If this is the only way that He wants you to
administer this Gift and you try to do it a different way, it will not work. You must
administer it the way that the Holy Spirit has directed you, lest you be out of the
will of God, and get no results. Please stay in, or minister in the Gift Of healing
that you have been given, and don’t tread into those Healing Gifts that you have
not been given. When you work outside of your Gift, it causes frustration and
doubt to have access to your life, because of failure. Stay in your Gift. When

58
you do, the success that you will have, will further build your level of faith, thus
increasing the Anointing on your Gift.

Not Faith Healing.

The Gifts Of Healing are different from faith healing, in that the person who is
ministering healing with these Gifts, does not depend on the faith of the person
that they are ministering to. The person with the Gifts Of Healing must have faith
in the fact that they are dispensing to the sick person the Gift Of Healing that is in
their possession. So faith is required on the part of the holder of the Gift, rather
than from the person who is being ministered to. Faith healing requires that the
person needing healing to develop their faith in the Word of God, causing the
healing that is in the Word to manifest in their lives.

Biblical Operations Of The Gifts Of Healing.

Old Testament Examples
II Kings 20:1-11 says;
“In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son
of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Set thine house
in order, for thou shalt die, and not live.
Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the Lord saying,
I beseech thee, O Lord, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth
and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And
Hezekiah wept sore.
And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the
word of the Lord came to him, saying,
Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the Lord,
the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears:
behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up into the house of the
Lord.
And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city
out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own
sake, and for my servant David’s sake.
And Isaiah said, Take a lump of figs. And they took and laid it on the boil,
and he recovered.
And Hezekiah said unto Isaiah, What shall be the sign that the Lord will heal
me, and that I shall go up into the house of the Lord the third day?
And Isaiah said, This sign shalt thou have of the Lord, that the Lord will do
the thing that he hath spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten degrees, or go
back ten degrees?
And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to go down ten
degrees: nay but let the shadow return backward ten degrees.
And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the Lord: and he brought the shadow ten
degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the dail of Ahaz.”

59
Not only did God use Isaiah to heal Hezekiah’s sickness that was a deadly one, but
God gave him proof by causing the earth to turn back its rotation. God reversed
the rotation of the earth 10 degrees (He turned back time) just to prove to His
servant that His word would come to pass.

Numbers 12:5-15 says;

“ And the Lord came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of
the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth.
And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the Lord
will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a
dream.
My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house.
With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark
speeches; and the similitude of the Lord shall he behold: wherefore then were
ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?
And the anger of the Lord was kindled against them; and he departed.
And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became
leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and behold, she was
leprous.
And Aaron said unto Moses, Alas, my lord, I beseech thee, lay not the sin upon
us, wherein we have done foolishly, and wherein we have sinned.
Let her not be as one dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed when he cometh
out of his mother’s womb.
And Moses cried unto the Lord, saying, Heal her now, O God, I beseech thee.
And the Lord said unto Moses, If her father had but spit in her face, should she
not be ashamed seven days? Let her be shut out from the camp seven days, and
after that let her be received in again.
And Miriam was shut out from the camp seven days: and the people journeyed
not till Miriam was brought again.”
Moses’ prayer unto the Lord brought healing to Miriam. Prayer is a key component
in the Gifts Of Healing.

New Testament Examples

Mark 2:1-12 says;
“And again he entered into Capernaum, after some days; and it was noised
that he was in the house.
And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no
room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the
word unto them.
And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of
four.
And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered
the roof where he was and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed

60
wherein the sick of the palsy lay.
When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be
forgiven thee.
But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their
hearts,
Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God
only?
And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned
within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your
hearts?
Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or
to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?
But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins,
(he saith to the sick of the palsy,)
I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.
And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all;
insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw
it on this fashion.”
Here Jesus speaks a word to the palsied man, and he obeyed and was healed,
through the Gifts of Healing. Obedience by the sick person is often needed, acting
on the instructions given them to do.

Mark 3:1-5 says;

“And he entered again into the synagogue; and there was a man there which
had a withered hand.
And they watched him, whether he would heal him on the Sabbath day; that
they might accuse him.
And he saith unto the man which had the withered hand, Stand forth.
And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath days, or to do
evil? To save life, or to kill? But they held their peace.
And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for
the hardness of their hearts, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand,
And he stretched it out: and his had was restored whole as the other.”
There is no mention here of the man with the withered hands faith, rather it was
the Gifts of Healing in operation.

The Book of the Acts of the Apostles 3:1-10 says;

“Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer,
being the ninth hour.
And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid
daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that
entered into the temple;
Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.

61
And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.
And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.
Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In
the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his
feet and ankle bones received strength.
And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple,
walking, and leaping, and praising God.
And all the people saw him walking and praising God:
And they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the
temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had
happened unto him.”
Peter offered him such as he had. What did he have? The Gifts of Healing and the
Name of Jesus.

The Gifts of healing often operates with the Gift of the Working
of Miracles, especially, if it is necessary to restore a decayed or missing body part.
In this instance, you are still healing the body, yet through a miraculous act. For
example: When Jesus was being arrested, the ear of the high priest servant was cut
off, and Jesus touched his ear, healing and restoring the ear. Luke 22:50-51 says;
“And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right
ear.
And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye this far. And he touched his ear, and
healed him.”
Jesus healed him, but this healing required a miracle of restoration also, because
his ear was cut off.
Jesus also restored the body parts of the leper who came back, glorifying God and
giving Him thanks. The Bible says that although the man was cleansed or healed
of the leprosy, his coming back and giving thanks, caused Jesus to restore the body
parts in which the leprosy had decayed away (Luke 17:11-19).

Instructions
Another important, but often left out facet of this Gift, is the instructions to
those being healed, in how to stay healed. Teaching people the scriptures on faith
and healing, and explain to them how sin is the root cause of sickness is necessary.
You must instruct people to live holy and stay in right standing with God, by
confessing and repenting of their sins as quickly as possible.

62
The Operation Of The Gifts Of Healing (how you functions in you)
1. God may reveal to you, through an audible voice, the still small voice, or through
one of the revelatory
Gifts (dreams, visions) what He wants you to do and/or what sicknesses a
person may have.
2. You may have a burden by the Holy Spirit to pray for someone.
3. God may send people with certain sicknesses to you. Ask God to do this for
you.

The Administration of the Gifts Of Healing (how you give it to others)

1. You may administer healing through prayer for the person with the sickness.
2. You may rebuke sickness with a spoken word in Jesus name.
3. You may administer healing through the laying on of hands (Mark 16:17-18).
4. You may administer the Gifts any way the Holy Spirit leads you to do it, such
as; you may (if led by the Holy Spirit) anoint something else with the Healing Gift
that you have, to be sent to others that you cannot reach, so that the anointing of
healing may be released through the object you anointed. Such was the case with
Paul the Apostle when he anointed the handkerchiefs and aprons (Acts 19:11-
12).
You may also be led by the Holy Spirit to perhaps use other things to bring about
healing, such was the case when Jesus used dirt and spit to make clay, which he
used to heal the blind man (John 9:6-7).
5. You may administer healing by directing someone to do a particular thing that
will bring about healing.
Jesus told the man to go wash in the pool of Siloam after He had put the clay
and spit on him (John 9:6-7).
Beloved, child of God, ask God for the Gifts of healing and for the understanding
regarding its operation in your life, as well as the instructions necessary to
administer it to others. Seek to operate and administer this Gift in the full measure
that you have been given by the Holy Spirit. Luke 11:9-13 tells us to ask and we
shall receive, so ask for the Gifts of Healing!
Heaven has such a store house of Gifts of Healing waiting for those, such as
you, to ask and prepare to receive. God wants to show Himself strong through
the operation of these Gifts in your life, will you let Him? II Chronicles 16:9 (a
clause) says;
“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show
himself strong in the behalf of them whose hearts is perfect toward him.”

Don’t doubt that God has given you what He has told you or shown you.
Never think that the healing is based on your merits, rather always know that it
is Christ righteousness. It is not you that is the healer, it is God. Regarding this
Gift, the devil will always try to get you to look at your unworthiness and why
you are not qualified to do this, but don’t look at that, rather keep your eyes on

63
Christ righteousness. Jesus Christ gave you His righteousness, causing you to be a
righteous vessel fit to be used by God to heal the sick.

I believe that God wants to release healing in the land through the Gifts that He
has placed in His people. Go and heal the sick.

64
The Gift of Prophecy

The Gift of Prophecy is the first of three Utterance Gifts (Gifts that say
something). The Gifts of Divers Kinds of Tongues being the second and The Gift
of Interpretation of Tongues being the last.
I Corinthians 12:10 says;
“To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy,…”
To better understand this Gift, as well as the two other Utterance Gifts we must
define the word inspiration, for these Gifts function by inspiration of the Holy
Spirit. Inspire means to stimulate or impel, to motivate as by divine influence or
to arouse (a thought or feeling up in someone). The Holy Spirit inspires those with
this Gift to speak what He (the Holy Spirit) has put upon their hearts. I Samuel
10:10 gives us an example of this, it reads;
“And when they came thither to the hill, behold, a company of prophets met
him; and the spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied among them.”
This scripture tells us that the Spirit of God came upon Saul and He (the Holy
Spirit) inspired him to prophesy.
The word “prophecy” in the Greek is “propheteia” (pronounced prof-ay-ti-ah),
meaning prediction. It is derived from the word “prophetes” (prophet), which
means a foreteller, and an inspired speaker. Prophecy is God speaking through
someone a prediction, while the Gift of a Word of Wisdom (which many people
confuse with The Gift of Prophecy) is God giving information (His wisdom) and
direction regarding what to do with the wisdom He has given.
This Gift gives the ability to speak or foretell (predict) by inspiration of the Holy
Spirit. The Holy Spirit will put words in your mouth or heart, to foretell or declare,
and cause you to be inspired to speak them. Prophecy is often a declaration of a
statement or prediction made by God, through His servant with this Gift, of what
will be.

This Gift Has Both Utterance And Revelatory Functions.

This Gift has both revelation, because of its accurate predictions, and utterance,
due to its declaration of the prediction that God has revealed. The person with
this Gift is inspired to speak what has been shown them, or told them through
the Holy Spirit. Often, the inspiration comes as the person begins to open their
mouth. Many people who have a prophetic call have this Gift, but that is not
always the rule.

The Gift Of Prophecy Does Not Make You A Prophet.

There seems to be a misconception that many people believe, and that is, that
anyone who prophesies is a Prophet. You can have the simple Gift of Prophecy
and not sit in the office of a Prophet. When you sit in the office of a Prophet you
65
usually function in this Gift, as well other Gifts of the Holy Spirit on a frequent
basis, and not just the Gift of Prophecy from time to time. You can recognize this
Gift in your life or in the life of others, but be very careful in whom you give God’s
titles to. A Gift does not qualify a person for a fivefold ministry office.

Every Prophecy Is Not From The Lord.

Beloved, just because a person is inspired and prophesies, does not mean that
it must be from the Lord. There are many people who go around prophesying,
declaring they have a word from the Lord, when the Lord God had not spoken
to them. If a person is not submitted to God, or is living in known sin, they can
prophesy under the inspiration of the flesh (there heart’s desire) or a demonic
spirit. I Kings 22:20-23 gives us an example, it reads;
“And the Lord said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall
at Ramoth-gilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that
manner.
And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the Lord, and said, I will
persuade him.
And the Lord said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I
will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt
persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so.
Now therefore, behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all
these thy prophets, and the Lord hath spoken evil concerning thee.”
The Lord allowed a lying spirit to speak through the mouths of King Ahab’s
prophets, causing them to prophesy a lie to the King that would lead him to go to
war, and thus lose his life. These Prophet’s were not submitted to God, for they
constantly prophesied good to this King that was evil and wicked, rather than
telling him the truth, like Micaiah who saw the vision of the lying spirit going forth
to King Ahab’s prophets, and who also never had anything good to prophesy to
King Ahab. I Kings 22:7-8 says;
“And Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the Lord besides, that we
might inquire of him?
And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah
the son of Imlah, by whom we may inquire of the Lord: but I hate him; for he
doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let
not the king say so.”
Although all these other so called prophets spoke good to this evil king, Micaiah
was submitted to God, in that he was obedient to God, and willing to face the wrath
of a wicked king to prophesy the truth. Jeremiah 2:8 gives additional scripture
regarding people prophesying from the wrong source, it reads;
“The priests said not, Where is the LORD? And they that handle the law knew
me not: the pastors also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied
by Baal, and walked after things that do not profit.”
They were inspired to prophesy by a false deity (Baal, who is a false deity is probably

66
a wicked spirit in high places).

Prophesying Can Reveal Secrets Of The Heart.

This Gift is often used to give proof and evidence that God is in you, by revealing
the secrets of the hearts of people. I Corinthians 14:24-25 says;
“But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned,
he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:
And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his
face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.”
God can use the possessor of this Gift to declare or predict to someone what they
intend to do, in which they may have never told anyone else. God knows all things
and can reveal them to His servants.

The Public Ministry.

God may inspire the person with the Gift Of Prophecy to prophesy to an
assembly of believers (a church), or He may have them prophesy to an individual.
When we examine the public ministry of the Gift Of Prophecy in comparison with
the Gift Of Divers Kinds Of Tongues, we must conclude, based on scripture, that
the Gift Of Prophecy is the greater Gift, because it speaks unto people and edifies
(builds them up), exhorts and comforts them, while the Gift Of Divers Kinds
Of Tongues requires the Gift Of Interpretation Of Tongues to bring edification,
exhortation or comfort. The person who speaks in an unknown tongue edifies or
build up themselves, while the person operating in the Gift Of Prophecy edifies the
church. I Corinthians 14:1-5 says;
“Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may
prophesy.
For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto
God: for no man understand him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation,
and comfort.
He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that
prophesieth edifieth the church.
I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for
greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he
interpret, that the church may receive edifying.

It Just Flows From Your Mouth.

Those with the Gift Of Prophecy sometimes are so inspired by the Holy Spirit
to testify of what God has shown them or has put in them, that as they begin to
speak, the Gift Of Prophecy may begin to operate and they start declaring what the
Lord is saying, without planning to say it. Some people are afraid and ashamed of
this, but they should not be. If God is trying to use you in this Gift, then do not be
afraid, rather declare what saith the Lord. The Bible tells us to not despise or hate

67
prophesying. I Thessalonians 5:20 says;
“Despise not prophesying.”
Many people despise or are afraid to flow in the Utterance Gifts because they are
not sure if the inspiration to speak, was from God, their own hearts desires, or the
devil. Beloved Child of God, do not be afraid to flow in God’s Gifts. If you want to
not be deceived by the devil, then ask God to show you the open doors in your life
that the enemy would try to use to exploit or misuse this Gift. When God shows
you the open doors in your life (they may be sins or habits that you have, that make
you open to the enemies wiles or tricks), then repent of any sin (ask God to forgive
you in Jesus name), and ask God to help you close all open doors, so that you may
be used by Him without error. Be willing to receive what God will show you.

Impartation.
Often the impartation of Gifts is released through the inspiration given through
prophesying. The Book of I Timothy 4:14 says;
“Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the
laying on of the hands of the presbytery.”
When Paul laid his hands on Timothy to charge him with spiritual authority, or
a spiritual office, he prophesied over him, declaring the impartation of certain
spiritual Gifts that the Holy Spirit was inspiring him to say, thus releasing them
to Timothy. This often happens in ordination services. I have personally had
experiences wherein I was ordaining or laying hands on people to charge them
with a spiritual office, when in praying for them, the Holy Spirit begin to move in
me, inspiring me to declare and foretell things that I had no idea that I personally
wanted to say. He may have me declare, foretell, and often charge someone with
an Anointing that only God knew that He was going to give a person.

Biblical Operations Of The Gift Of Prophecy.

Old Testament Examples
I Samuel 10:10 says;
“And when they came thither to the hill, behold, a company of prophets met
him; and the spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied among them.”
This scripture tells us that the Spirit of God came upon Saul and he prophesied,
after he had been told that he would be King.
I Kings 22:13-25 says;
“And the messenger that was gone to call Micaiah spake unto him, saying,
Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good unto the king with one
mouth: let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak
that which is good.
And Micaiah said, As the Lord liveth, what the Lord saith unto me, that will
I speak.
So he came to the king. And the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go
against Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall we forbear? And he answered him,

68
Go, and prosper: for the Lord shall deliver it into the hand of the king.
And the king said unto him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou tell
me nothing but that which is true in the name of the Lord?
And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have not a
shepherd: and the Lord said, These have no master: let them return every man
to his house in peace.
And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would
prophesy no good concerning me, but evil?
And he said, Hear thou therefore the word of the Lord: I saw the Lord sitting
on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and
on his left.
And the Lord said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall
at Ramoth-gilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that
manner.
And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the Lord, and said, I will
persuade him.
And the Lord said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I
will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt
persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so.
Now therefore, behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all
these thy prophets, and the Lord hath spoken evil concerning thee.
But Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near, and smote Micaiah on the
cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of the Lord from me to speak unto
thee?
And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see in that day, when thou shalt go into
an inner chamber to hide thyself.”

New Testament Examples

Acts 19:6 says;
“And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came upon
them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.”
In Ephesus the Apostle Paul laid his hands on the believers and they began to
speak in tongues and also to prophesy. It was the Holy Spirit that inspired them
to prophesy.

Luke 1:67-79 says;

“And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied,
saying,
Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his
people,
And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant
David;
As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the

69
world began:
That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate
us;
To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy
covenant;
The oath which he sware to our father Abraham,
That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our
enemies might serve him without fear,
In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.
And thou child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go
before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;
To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,
Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high
hath visited us.
To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide
our feet into the way of peace.”
John the Baptist father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied
concerning what God was about to do through Jesus Christ (redemption of His
people), and what his new born baby son was going to do and be called.

The Operation of the Gift Of Prophecy (how it functions in you).

1. The Holy Spirit inspires you to declare an utterance or spoken words. The
origin of these words are from God and not from the heart of the person with this
Gift or from the devil.
2. The Holy Spirit can use one of the Revelatory Gifts (Word of Wisdom, Word of
Knowledge,
Discerning Of Spirits) to show you what He wants you to declare, such as was
the case with Micaiah, who prophesied what the Lord showed him (I Kings 22:18-
22).

The Administration of the Gift Of Prophecy (how you give it to others).

1. This Gift can be administered to the Body of Christ in a public service, in which
it would be spoken aloud for all to hear.
2. This Gift can be administered to individuals, to Christians, as well as non
Christians.

The Gift of Divers Kinds of Tongues

The Gift of Divers Kinds of Tongues is the second of three Utterance Gifts
(Gifts that say something). The Gift of Prophecy being the first and The Gift of
Interpretation of Tongues being the last.
I Corinthians 12:10 says;
“To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning
of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of
tongues:”
The Holy Spirit inspires those with
the Gift of Divers Kinds of Tongues to speak what He (the Holy Spirit) has put
upon their hearts in a language other than their own.
In the Greek the word “tongues” is called “glossa” (pronounced gloce-sah),
meaning a language, specifically one that is not naturally acquired. One of
the Webster’s New World Dictionary and Thesaurus definitions of tongues is a
language or dialect. The word “divers” means several or a variety according to the
American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language. To put it plainly, the Gift
of Divers Kinds of Tongues is the ability to speak in a language or languages other
than your own natural one that you have not learned. This can be other (known)
languages or unknown languages. It was God who created the various languages
in Genesis 11:1-9, which He dispersed to humanity, reads;
“And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.
And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain
in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.
And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them
thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for mortar.
And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach
unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the
face of the whole earth.
And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of
men builded.
And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language;
and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which
thy have imagined to do.
Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not
understand one another’s speech.
So the Lord scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth:
and they left off to build the city.
71
Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confound
the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad
upon the face of the earth.”
When I look at the Word of God and see that there are times that people spoke
in unknown languages, I realize the greatness of God, in which He did not give
mankind all languages, rather He kept some unknown to man. It is the pride of
men to think that we have mastered, and are aware of all languages, which we did
not create. The master of language is God, who has reserved some to be unknown
to man, in which he releases to them to speak, as He wills.
The Gift of Divers Kinds of Tongues seems to be two fold in its design. There
are other tongues or languages known to man, and unknown tongues or languages
that are not known to man. Many may have the prayer language of tongues (both
known and unknown), but everybody does not function in the Gift of Divers
Kinds of Tongues as a public ministry.
The Gift of Divers Kinds of Tongues in a public ministry is for the purpose of the
hearers (even if it is only one person that the Gift is addressing in the audience).
It is for that group or individual to hear and understand a message from the Lord,
through the mouth of the person with this Gift.

The Gift Of Divers Kinds Of Tongues Is Often For The Unbeliever.

This Gift is often used as a sign to unbelievers, especially other tongues.
Speaking in an unknown tongue to an unbeliever may not be beneficial, for they
may think that you are babbling, but if you were to speak in a known language that
they understand, and they know that you do not naturally speak this language,
then they know that God is speaking through you. Let’s examine the first New
Testament experience of tongues, Acts 2:1-12 reads;
“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord
in one place.
And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind,
and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as a fire, and it sat upon
each of them.
And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other
tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation
under heaven.
Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were
confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
And they were all amazed and marveled, saying one to another, Behold, are
not all these which speak Galilaeans?
And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?
Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in
Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,

72
Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and
strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,
Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful
works of God.
And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What
meaneth this?”
These people who were hearing what was being said were unbelievers. Because
they heard these men, who were Galileans speak in their own languages, at one
time, it gave them evidence and proof of the wisdom and might (ability) of God,
who is able to do such things. The administration of the Gift of Divers Kinds of
Tongues caused the ears of these unbelievers to be open to hear the Gospel of Jesus
Christ (Acts 2:14-41).
Sometimes we can read a scripture and not realize the awesomeness of what
God did. When each of the disciples spoke, they were heard in all the languages
of the people who were there. There were at least 15 different people groups or
countries represented there, and each disciple was heard by all of those people, in
their own language. For example; when Peter was speaking, they all heard him in
their languages, if 12 of them were speaking at once, every hearer could hear all
twelve in their native languages. This Gift is so awesome, in that God can have
you speak a word in English, and everyone else will hear it in their own, or other
languages.
It is the Spirit of God that gives the utterance, or the words to speak for this
Gift. Acts 2:4 tells us that they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to
speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. They opened their
mouths and the Holy Spirit gave them what to say. You must be yielded to God
and immersed in His presence to receive clearly His utterance. If you are filled
with other worldly things, then you will utter or speak from those things, the same
thing applies to being filled with the Holy Spirit. When you are filled with the
Holy Spirit and spend time with Him, you will increase the function of this Gift.
Sometimes Christians have too many other things going on to hear clearly and be
inspired to speak what the Holy Spirit is trying to utter to them.
Again, this Gift is a proof that God is the God of all mankind, through His
command of their languages, and by allowing His servants to speak those languages
that they do not know, to reach the hearer with the message of salvation. This
Gift is a sign to unbelievers proving that God, the Living God, is the God of all
languages, kindred’s, peoples, and tongues, causing their ears to be open to hear
what God is saying through the bearer of this Gift. I Corinthians 14:22 (a clause)
says;
“Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that
believe not:….”
The person who has this Gift to administer to the unbeliever in public ministry
should not only speak in Divers Kinds Of Tongues, but they should also have a
knowledge of the meaning of salvation and know how to extend it to others. The

73
Gift of Divers Kinds of Tongues can often present the Gospel in another tongue
or language, unknown to the speaker, but is most often used as a sign to open the
ears of the hearers to receive the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This Gift in the public
ministry is used to declare a thing. When the Holy Ghost fell on the Disciples in
Acts 2, they declared what the Holy Spirit was functioning them to say, which was
the wonderful works of God (Acts 2:11).

Unknown Tongues Is Most Often For The Believers.

Unknown Tongues is most often used in personal prayer or in a assembly
of believers, who know that God is the God of all language, both known and
unknown, and by faith can receive what the Lord is saying through this function
of the Gift of Divers Kinds of Tongues.
Many Christians do not believe in unknown tongues and feel that it has no
biblical basis. The Bible both speaks of other tongues (known languages) and
unknown tongues (languages that God has not revealed to men) that people speak
under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Beloved, if you want truth you must
always exalt and except the Word of God above what your Church doctrine says,
above what your denomination says, above what your leaders say. Many have not
received truth that they read in the Word of God, because they have exalted the
opinions of their leaders or group that they are a part of, above the Word of God
that they read. They prefer not think or talk about it, rather than go against what
they have been taught, even though it may have been wrong. As we go further into
understanding this Gift, I ask that you put aside everything that you have been
taught that does not line up with what you are reading in the Word of God, and
receive what God’s Word is saying.

What Is The Difference Biblically, Between Unknown Tongues And Other

Tongues?
To best understand this question, we will examine the Word of God. Acts 2:4
speaks of other tongues, it reads;
“And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other
tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”
The hearers of other tongues in this scripture heard them speak in known languages.
This leads us to be assured that other tongues are other known languages. In I
Corinthians 13:1 Paul speaks of tongues of angels, it reads;
“Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity,
I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.”
What did Paul mean by this? I believe that he was declaring that men under the
inspiration of the Holy Spirit may speak with angelic or unknown languages. The
next question that we must ask ourselves is, “does the Bible speak of unknown
tongues?” Yes it does! Please understand that when someone speaks in an
unknown tongue, especially in prayer that they are not speaking to men, rather to

74
God, and it’s not meant for human understanding. I Corinthians 14:2 says;
“For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but
unto God: for no man understand him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh
mysteries.”
What men consider babbling, God has established and recognizes as language, in
which He (God) uses to speak mysteries. In the above scripture and in many other
scriptures we see unknown tongues. If unknown tongues were a foreign language
that we did not understand, then this scripture would not be true, because there
would be some men that would understand it. The above scripture says that when
someone is speaking in an unknown tongue no man understands. Through this
point we have established that there is a difference between other tongues (known
languages) and unknown tongues (languages that are not known to man).
In the Gospel of Mark 16:17 we read about the tongue, it says;
“And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out
devils; they shall speak with new tongues;”
This scripture says that all believers shall have the sign of speaking with new
tongues, yet Paul asked in I Corinthians 12:30 (b caluse), “…do all speak with
tongues?” How can this be? Many Christians don’t believe that the tongues
spoken of in Mark 16:17 means languages. Some suppose that it means speaking
now truthfully, without blaspheming, and with integrity. This would be a wrong
assumption. The Greek word for “new” in Mark 16:17 is “Kainos” (pronounced
kahee-nos), meaning freshness. The Greek word for tongues here is the same
Greek word used in I Corinthians 12:10, which is “glossa” meaning languages,
and not what many claim to be moral or decent speech. Then why did Paul ask,
“do all speak with tongues?” Paul was not referring to the prayer language of
tongues, rather to the public ministry of the Gifts of Divers Kinds of Tongues. Not
everyone has this as a public ministry Gift.

It Just Flows From Your Mouth.

Those with the Gift of Divers Kinds of Tongues sometimes are so inspired by
the Holy Spirit, that as they begin to open their mouths to speak, the Gift of Divers
Kinds of Tongues may begin to operate. This may happen in personal prayer time
or in times of public ministry for those who have this as a Gift. Some people are
afraid and ashamed of this, but they should not be. If God is trying to use you in
this Gift, then do not be afraid, rather declare what the Holy Spirit is inspiring you
to say.

The Gifts Flow In Righteousness.

These Gifts of the Holy Spirit flow in righteousness (when we have right standing
with God.) Because of this we must check ourselves and stay in holiness, keeping
godly character, and repenting quickly when we sin. Please do not take this for
granted and think that you can administer these Gifts accurately while living in
sin. It won’t happen.

75
Biblical Operations Of The Gift Of Divers Kinds Of Tongues.
Old Testament Examples
Genesis 11:1-9 (given as a scripture earlier in this lesson.) God caused the people
of the entire world to speak in a diversity (divers kinds) of languages or tongues.

New Testament Examples

Acts 10:44-46 says;
“While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which
heard the word.
And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as
came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of
the Holy Ghost.
For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God…”

Acts 19:6 says;

And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them;
and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.”
The scriptures do not tell if they spoke in other or unknown tongues.

The Operation Of The Gift Of Divers Kinds Of Tongues (how it functions in

you).
1. The Holy Spirit may begin to inspire you, or stir you up in your spirit, so that
you are so full of theSpirit of God, that you release His words.
2. Don’t try to control or formulate the words; rather let the Spirit give you
utterance (words).
3. You do the speaking (you must open your mouth and let the utterance flow),
but the Holy Spirit gives you the utterance. The Spirit of God does not force you,
rather He will inspire you.
4. You must yield to the Spirit of God inside you, and speak whatever the Spirit
of God is sending to your lips and not what your mind says. Your mind does not
know Japanese or unknown languages, but the Holy Spirit does, and so your mind
can not organize the words to say through your lips, the Holy Spirit must. You
speak what the Holy Spirit is saying through you, whether you understand the
words or not, just yield and let it come forth.

The Administration Of The Gift Of Divers Kinds Of Tongues (how you give it
to others).
1. The Lord may give you inspiration to speak forth aloud in a public service
(church service), declaring what He wants to say to that assembly of people, or
particular person in that church or assembly of believers. If no one interprets then
you should stop. The Lord can use you to interpret, if He desires.
There should not be more than 2 or 3 people speaking in tongues in a public

76
service. These 2 or 3 must still speak in an orderly fashion, and not all at once. I
Corinthians 14:27-28 says;
“If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by
three, and that by course; and let one interpret.
But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him
speak to himself, and to God.”
2. God may cause you to be inspired to speak to a particular person who knows
the language that you are speaking.

The Gift of Interpretation of Tongues

The Gift of Interpretation of Tongues is the third of three Utterance Gifts (Gifts
that say something). The Gift of Prophecy being the first and The Gift of Divers
Kinds of Tongues being the second.
I Corinthians 12:10 says;
“To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning
of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of
tongues:”
To better understand this Gift, as well as the two other Utterance Gifts, we must
again define the word inspiration, for these Gifts function by inspiration of the
Holy Spirit. Inspire means to stimulate or impel, to motivate as by divine influence
or to arouse (a thought or feeling up in someone). The Holy Spirit inspires those
with the Gift of Interpretation of Tongues to speak or interpret what He (the
Holy Spirit) is saying through the person who is speaking in unknown or other
tongues.
To gain understanding of this Gift, I will define for you the key word in this
Gift, “interpretation.” The word for “interpretation” in the Greek is “hermeneia”
(pronounced her-may-ni-ah), meaning to translate.
The Gift of Interpretation of Tongues gives the possessor of it, the ability to interpret
what is being spoken in an unknown (language), or other (known language)
tongues, that the possessor of the Gift does not know naturally. Again, this Gift
causes the possessor of it to be able to interpret unknown and other tongues as the
Holy Spirit leads. This Gift must have an unknown or other tongue (language),
through either a spoken or written word given so that it can interpret. If it does
not, then this Gift has no function or role. Often the person with this Gift has the
Gift of Divers Kinds of Tongues also functioning in their lives.

A Misconception.
This Gift does not give the person the ability to understand all languages, as some
believe, rather to understand and interpret as the Holy Spirit reveals it to them.
This Gift does not interpret what people are saying in a foreign language, rather
what God is saying through people in an unknown or other tongue (language).

They Heard In Their Own Languages.

During the Day of Pentecost all the people heard the disciples speak in their own
languages. Acts 2:4-6;
“And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other
tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation
under heaven.
79
Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were
confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.”
God is sovereign, and He can make the hearer hear in a language other than the one
that is being spoken. God can cause a person to speak in Spanish and have another
person hear it in French and understand every word. The Gift of Interpretation of
Tongues can operate in all who are hearing or, it can be understood by one person,
who then interprets what has been said through the unction of the Holy Spirit
through the person with the Gift of Divers Kinds of Tongues.

God Established Language.

It is God who caused the various languages to come into being at Babylon
(Genesis 11:1-9), and it is God that understands each one. He can at anytime
give the ability to understand or interpret any language (known or unknown) to
whomsoever He pleases. God chooses to do this through this Gift, by the direction
of the Holy Spirit.
How Does It Operate?
It is God who gives the person with this Gift the ability to understand or
translate what is being said, either through the still small voice, or the person may
understand clearly what is being said by the person speaking in another language,
just as someone who speaks two different languages can hear a foreign language
and their minds can hear and immediately understand it according to their natural
speech or language. The Holy Spirit gives understanding to the spirit of the person
with this Gift and it flows into their minds and through their lips.

For Edification.
This Gift in public ministry in the Church should be for the edification (building
up) of the Church.
I Corinthians 14:12-17 says;
“Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may
excel to the edifying of the church.
Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may
interpret.
For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding
is unfruitful.
What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding
also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.
Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the
room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understand
not what thou sayest?
For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.”
This Gift works with the Gift of Divers Kinds of Tongues for the edification of
the Church. When a person speaks in an unknown or other tongue and there
is no one to interpret, then it is like speaking to the air (I Corinthians 14:9), but

80
when there is an interpreter, then the tongues has fulfills its purpose in giving
understanding of what the Lord is saying through the person with the Gift Of
Divers Kinds Of tongues.

You Must Have Faith And Confidence That You Are hearing From God.
You must have faith that you are hearing the translation correct from God. This
happens through the confidence you gain, knowing that you have confessed and
repented of your sins and knowing that you are righteous (right standing with
God). This knowledge gives you the assurance that the words that you are hearing
during the operation of the Gift of Interpretation of Tongues, are the Words of the
Holy Spirit.
There are times in which I could be praying during a public or private prayer,
wherein the Holy Spirit will begin to open my mind as to what He is saying
through me, and then I begin to interpret what I am saying by the leading of the
Holy Spirit.

Biblical Operations Of The Gift Of Interpretation Of Tongues.

Old Testament Examples
Daniel 5:13-28 says;
“Then was Daniel brought in before the king. And the king spake and said
unto Daniel, Art thou that Daniel, which art of the children of the captivity of
Judah, whom the king my father brought out of Jewry?
I have even heard of thee, that the spirit of the gods is in thee, and that light
and understanding and excellent wisdom is found in thee.
And now the wise men, the astrologers, have been brought in before me, that
they should read this writing, and make known unto me the interpretation
thereof: but they could not show the interpretation of the thing:
And I have heard of thee, that thou canst make interpretations, and dissolve
doubts: now if thou canst read the writing, and make known to me the
interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of
gold about thy neck, and shalt be the third ruler in the kingdom.
Then Daniel answered and said before the king, Let thy gifts be to thyself, and
give thy rewards to another, yet I will read the writing unto the king, and ,ake
known to him the interpretation.
O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father a kingdom,
and majesty, and glory, and honour:
And for the majesty that he gave him, all people, nations, and languages,
trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew; and whom he would
he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he put
down.
But when his heart was lifted up and his mind hardened in pride, he was
deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:
And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the

81
beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they fed him with grass
like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the
most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it
whomsoever he will.
And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou
knewest all this;
But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought
the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy
concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver,
and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know:
and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou
not glorified:
Then was the part of the hand sent from him; and this writing was written.
And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.
This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy
kingdom, and finished it.
TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.
PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.”
This was not a known language, but God gave Daniel the interpretation of its
meaning.

New Testament Example

Acts 2:6 says;
“Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were
confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.”
God opened the ears of all those listening, translating what was being said in the
ears of every person into their own languages.
The Operation Of The Gift Of Divers Kinds Of Tongues (how it functions in
you).
1. The Holy Spirit makes clear to you what someone (It could be yourself) is saying
in either other tongues or unknown tongues, giving you the ability to translate and
declare.
2. The tongue or language that it interprets can be either spoken or written, such
as with Daniel.
The Administration Of The Gift Of Divers Kinds Of Tongues (how you give it
to others).
1. In a public assembly, when someone is speaking in tongues, one person (not 2
or 3) should interpret, according to I Corinthians 14:27.
2. You can pray yourself in tongues and at the end or during it, God can have you
understand and/or declare what you are translating.

Exercising The Gifts Of The Holy Spirit

The Gifts of the Holy Spirit are meant to be used. When God gives you a Gift,
He does not expect you to suppress them, rather to allow them to flow in, and
through your life. If you have identified that you have a Gift of the Holy Spirit,
then you must trust God and ask Him to lead you out into the function of this Gift.
Do not be afraid to exercise it, as God presents to you opportunities.
Below are some ways in which a Christian can be used in exercising the Gifts
of the Holy Spirit. By no means is this an exhaustive list of ways that God can use
a Christian in the exercising of the Gifts. Yet I want to set up biblical boundaries
for the exercising of the Gifts. Because the devil and our flesh can both deceive
us, I must state that you should not try to exercise these Gifts outside of the ways
that the Bible has stated. Often, because we see someone else doing something,
we automatically feel that it is okay to follow, especially if it is someone who is a
popular Christian. Please do not base the exercising of the Gifts in your life on the
popularity of some other person, who may not be lining up with the Word of God
in how they are ministering. People are not a guideline in the exercising of the
Gifts of the Holy Spirit, rather the Word of God is. Beloved, if it’s not in the Word
of God, don’t do it. The crowd does not always follow the Biblical Word of God,
but the true servant of God must.
There are three arena’s in which we will be examining to exercise the Gifts Of
The Holy Spirit in, and they are: 1) In a public service. 2) Ministering them to
individual leaders and Christians. 3) Ministering them to non-Christians.

In A Public Service
The first thing that you need to understand is that you must be lead by the Holy
Spirit in the ministering of these Gifts, in all the arena’s. Regarding ministering
in a public service, it is a good thing to make your leaders aware of the call on
your life, and your desire to minister the Gifts in the service as needed. If they
are in agreement, then you are free to minister as the Holy Spirit wills. If they
are not in agreement, then you should ask the Lord to show you what He wants
you to do. There may be a problem with you, the church, or the leader, that is
hindering your ability to minister the Gifts in the services. Beloved, please don’t
automatically say, “its not me, it’s the Pastor.” If you won’t take the time to seek
the Lord, consider the situation, and examine your heart, then most likely its you.
God may yet be developing you into greater levels of maturity, wherein He can use
you to administer this Gift in a public service. Remember, God did not intend for
every person with a Gift to minister in a public Church service. There are different
arena’s that God is sending His people to. If you are called to minister in a public
service, keep things decent and in order, and do not try and control the leaders and
the service, for your Gift was not intended for that purpose.

Revelatory Gifts In A Public Service
1. You can raise your hands and be recognized by the leadership and stand and
declare what the Lord has shown you. This revelation, whether it be a dream,
vision, or discernment of spiritual activity, should pertain to the Church, if you are
making the revelation public. Please seek the Lord out to if He wants to make what
He has shown you public to the Church.
2. If you are a Pastor or ministry person, you may give the revelation when you
are up speaking.
3. Often in the public service the need to giving understanding of the revelation is
important for direction, comfort and edification of the hearers.
4. You can also ask your leaders permission in advance to have the opportunity to
give this revelation to the congregation.
5. In some Church services the testimony service can be used to speak.
6. You can give instructions regarding the revelation, if it is a Word Of Wisdom.
7. God can lead you to interpret a revelation or revelations in a public service, if
that need arises.

The Power Gifts In A Public Service

1. Talk with your leaders regarding your Gift or call, and let them know that you
are available and would like to be used in praying for the sick (if you have the Gifts
Of Healing), to minister in the
Working of Miracles or the Gift of Faith, as the Lord leads. This may happen at
an altar call or you may be used to pray over the congregation these things.
2. You can establish a miracle or healing service, if the Lord leads you to do so.
God can open the hearts of the leadership of your Church or others to give you the
opportunity to do so, if it is His will.
3. If permitted by the leadership, you may declare publicly what you are trusting
God for (especially through the Gift of Faith) and encourage others to stand in
faith. This can be done through an announcement in a bulletin or Sunday program,
or if you are allowed, to stand before the congregation to declare it.
4. Many opportunities to exercise the Power Gifts happen suddenly and during a
crisis, so you should always be ready to exercise the Gifts at any given time.

The Utterance Gifts In A Public Service

1. You can get up and prophesy in a public church service as the Holy Spirit
inspires you to do it.
2. If you have the Gift of Divers Kinds of Tongues for public ministry, you can get
up in a public service and speak in tongues (known or unknown) as the Holy Spirit
leads you. If there is no interpreter, you should then be silent.
3. If you have the Gift of Interpretation of Tongues you can interpret what you,
or others have said in a public service, as the Holy Spirit gives you understanding.
You do not have to get up and say
“Thus saith the Lord” unless that is being said by the person or the Holy Spirit

inspires you to say that.

Ministering Them To Individual Leaders And Christians.

If you are going to minister the Gifts of the Holy Spirit inside the Church walls,
then you should speak to the leaders and get permission to minister to members of
the congregation on a one on one level. Don’t just assume that you have the right
to do what you want, in a place where others have spiritual oversight.

Ministering Revelatory Gifts To Individual Leaders And Christians.

1. Before you give any revelation, make sure that the Lord has released you to
Revelation is given for you to understand and not for you to share it with others,
even regarding the person that it may pertain to.
2. You can let your leaders or other Christians know what the Lord has revealed
to you.
3. You can give instructions regarding the revelation, if it is a Word Of Wisdom.
4. You can give a personal revelation of what the Lord has shown you about a
person. This can include spiritual activity going on, in, and or around the lives of
the people or person.

Ministering the Power Gifts To Individual Leaders And Christians.

1. You can visit those in the Church who are sick and shut in, or needy, to pray
for them. This can also be done on an individual basis in the Church, if you have
already spoken to the leadership and been approved to do so.
2. You can minister The Gifts Of Healing, The Working Of Miracles, or stand in
the Gift Of Faith for those Christians that the Holy Spirit leads you to minister to,
both inside and outside the Church.
3. You can pray for, and with individual Christians that the Lord has led you to
minister to, both inside and outside the Church.
4. Many opportunities to exercise the Power Gifts happen suddenly and during a
crisis, so you should always be ready to exercise the Gifts at any given time.

Ministering the Utterance Gifts To Individual Leaders And Christians.

1. You can interpret what someone may be praying in a known or unknown
tongue.
2. You can prophesy what the Lord gives you to leaders, as well as individual
Christians.

Ministering The Gifts Of The Holy Spirit To Non-Christians.

Many of these Gifts are for demonstration, intended to draw the attention of the
unbeliever, and win them to Christ. Exercising your Gifts to the unbeliever should
most often open a door to lead them to salvation through Jesus Christ.
Ministering The Revelatory Gifts To The Non-Christian.
1. You must be led by the Holy Spirit to minister to these people.

85
2. You can reveal to them what the Lord has told or shown you, in the way and
time that God has told you to tell them. Always seek the Lord in regards to how
to deliver the revelation.
3. You can give them God’s instruction regarding what to do, if it is a Word of
Wisdom.
4. You can give interpretation of their dreams, as the Holy Spirit leads. Remember,
not all dreams are from God, so seek God’s direction, before trying to interpret
what they mean.

Ministering The Power Gifts To The Non-Christian.

1. You can establish a healing and/or a miracle service for unbelievers. You can
rent out conference space in a hotel, a hall, a room in the YMCA or YWCA, invite
them to your home to be healed, or go to their homes (if requested).
2. You can visit the sick and infirmed in hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation
centers, hospices, etc.., and pray for them in Jesus name.
3. You can minister to your friends and family who do not know Jesus Christ as
Savior.
4. Whenever you hear or overhear someone say that they are sick or have a need,
use this as an opportunity to minister the Gifts to them, yet as the Holy Spirit
leads.

Ministering The Utterance Gifts To The Non-Christian.

1. You can prophesy to the unbeliever, what the Lord has placed on your heart to
say. It does not matter if it is a warning, for comfort, or for direction.
2. You can speak in another tongue (known languages), as the Holy Spirit leads
around the non-believer, trusting God that it is a message to them.

By no means is this the only way the Holy Spirit ministers the Gifts of the Spirit.
It is important that you know the Word of God, so that you can know the ways in
which the Holy Spirit will and will not work, regarding the Gifts.
