Sara james & the hess Brothers band

ara James, a Seneca High

School sophomore, had the
honor to perform at the
2016 THON Dance Marathon in
front of 15,000 charity driven students.
Sara James and the Hess Brothers
traveled from South Jersey to perform on stage at THON 2016. The
five-piece band started off their Penn
State debut with students crowded
around the Four Diamond stage to
hear a performance of rock n roll
throwbacks and contemporary folk
rock. To start the show off right,
Sara got the crowd clapping along to
Are You Gonna Be My Girl by Jet.
Followed by the unmistakable guitar
riffs from the No Doubt hit Im Just
a Girl, the crowd remembered the
good old rock n roll from the 90s.
The band kept the crowd head
banging with the Blondie original
One Way or Another, especially
when Sara whips out her own guitar
to amp up the layered melodies.
The enthusiasm of the musicians
bled into the crowd, and everyone
was dancing along when the lead guitarist took to the microphone to
belt the lyrics to The Wolf by
Mumford & Sons. They even gave
the Foo Fighters a run for their
money with a cover of All My Life.
The energy was heightened once
they started Led Zeppelins Rock
And Roll. And other favorite from

the Foo Fighters, The Pretenders,

but their talent shows they are nothing close to pretenders.
Just after two great throwbacks,
the band starts to play Gold On
The Ceiling by the Black Keys. This
song got some people in the back
dancing along.
Both singers took on Harder to
Breathe by Maroon 5 and then
shocked the BJC with an electric guitar solo to compete with the best of
them. After was a unique rocker spin
on Bruno Mars pop song
Runaway. Sara switched up to a
tambourine, and the band played
another pop turned rock rendition,
this one of One Republics
Counting Stars. It evoked the audience to sing and dance with their
neighbors. The build up into Dog
Days Are Over by Florence in the
Machine was intoxicating, and it got
the crowd dancing and screaming
along to the lyrics they know so well.
Sara calmed the tone of the performance with her soulful voice as
she sang Riptide by Vance Joy.
Though it was a slower song from
the set list, you could still hear the
echo of the crowd singing along to
the popular summer jam.
Little Talks from Monsters and
Men led the band in to their last
song. Sara James and the Hess
Brothers THON 2016Uptown
Funk by Bruno Mars was a great

pump up song to end the performance and propel the BJC into more
THON shenanigans. The guitar riffs
with the strong drums were the perfect background for everyone singing
and dancing along to the bands final
song. Just before leaving the stage
they tried out the classic We
Are And of course, the BJC
responded with a resounding Penn
State!
Sara James & the Hess Brothers
band consist of: Sara James, vocals
and guitar, Seneca High School student; Jon Hess, vocals and guitar,
Cherry Hill high school student; Jack
Reres, bass, Lenape High School student; Joey Hess, drums and vocals,
Cherry Hill middle school student;
and Ricky Hess, keyboard, Cherry
Hill middle school student. The
group continues to bring exposure
to the Sara James Music Foundation.
I still cant believe we had the
chance to be part of this amazing
cause! Music Foundation Founder
Sara James explained. Executive
Director Larry Jamerson stated, I
cant believe how well they performed under pressure in front of a
crowd that large, so very proud of
each and everyone of them.

liberty lake teaches skills for life

iberty Lake Day Camp is a

transformative
summer
experience for children ages
4-15. On 60 beautiful, shady acres
Liberty Lakers enjoy their days in a
safe, richly personalized, caring community that reinforces strong values
and virtues, while teaching children
the life skills they need become contributing members of society.
Campers customize their days
through the dynamic Freedom of
Choice elective program, with over
60 program choices in the realms of
athletics, fine and performing arts,
STEM, waterfront and adventure.
This unique program allows young
people to nurture their passions and
find their inner-voice as they grow
into adulthood. Committed to high
quality supervision, small camper
groups are led by teachers and college students, with week-long elec-

tives led by trained adults. Each week

culminates with a camp-wide concert in which the campers proudly
perform for one another their work
from that week (and sing the Liberty
Lake Song!)
To truly teach life skills and character building, Liberty Lake created
five Star Points, which are held up
as guiding lights for their campers
and staff.
Teamwork,
independence,
integrity, aspiration and friendship
are worked into all aspects of camp,
rewarded when seen, and are overriding themes for each week.
According to Liberty Lake Director
Andy Pritikin, the president of the
American Camp Association, NY/NJ,
While Liberty Lake has an eclectic
array of program activities, our curriculum transcends any given sport
or art. Our greater purpose at
Liberty Lake is to teach the skills of

life- the ones that are rarely taught in

classrooms, and which parents wish
they had enough time to teach at
home.
At Liberty Lake, they are intentionally taught at camp.
Pritikin points out critical character traits like grit and resiliency that
children need to hone while they are
young, so that they are able to manage the ups and downs of adult life.
Liberty Lake offers transportation
(including a late bus), extended
hours, delicious catered lunches, and
a flexible extended season (two to
10 weeks) with a generous no risk
refund policy.
Open Houses are scheduled for
Feb. 21 and March 13 from 11 a.m.
to 3 p.m., and individual tours are
available by appointment. For more
information, call (856) 437-5340, or

Dr. Amy James and Associates

eople are often scared of

dental offices. Whether its
sounds or sights that cause
patients to be anxious, this is one
office that puts those feeling to rest!
Dr. Amy James of Dr. Amy James
and Associates relays her practice
philosophy, Our focus is on individualized attention and meticulous,
state-of-the-art specialty care in
orthodontics. Our practice is not
volume oriented. We continue to
grow through recommendations
from enthusiastic patients and parents, and we are grateful for that
support. Our plan is to treat you so
well technically and personally that
you will become part of our practice
family.
Additionally, Dr. James is enthusiastic about her passion for the field.
I love my career as an orthodontist

because its a proactive specialty.

People seek treatment to make their
smile beautiful and/or make their
teeth fit together ideally. The outcome is always great and people feel
good about their investment. They
have better function and aesthetics.
The evolution in orthodontic
technology has been truly exciting.
Our goal, says Dr. James is to stay
on the cutting edge of technology.
Digital scans of the patients mouth
and Cad-Cam (computer aided
design-computer aided manufacturing) employ digital technology to
refine and enhance treatment
mechanics. Also, there are now procedures or devices like Propel and
AcceleDent to increase the rate of
tooth movement which can shorten
treatment time significantly.
While the American Association
of Orthodontics recommends chil-

dren have an orthodontic screening

no later than age 7, children and
young adults arent the only ones
who benefit from orthodontics.
More adults are opting for healthy,
aesthetic smiles. Dr. James comments. With the advent of invisible
braces like INVISALIGN and HARMONY (lingual braces or braces on
inside of the teeth), wearing braces
will not interfere with an adult
lifestyle. In fact, Dr. James and
Associates is the only provider in the
area specializing in lingual braces and
patients love it!
Dr. Amy James Haddonfield office
is conveniently located at 15 E. Euclid
Ave., Haddonfield. For more information regarding orthodontics or to

irregularity in the jaw area. There
are many advantages to well-aligned
teeth, including easier cleaning, better oral hygiene, clearer speech and
a more pleasant smile. Though
orthodontic treatment can be effective at any age, the American Dental
Association suggests that an orthodontic assessment should be performed around the age of seven. The
earlier orthodontic treatment
begins, the more quickly the problem can be successfully resolved.
Recent years have brought about
many changes within the dental
industry, specifically with regards to
orthodontic treatment and care.
Now more than ever patients are
experiencing fewer incidences of
cavities and missing teeth due to the
heightened awareness of fluoride use
and preventative dentistry. This
increasing awareness on the health

and look of a patients smile has

fueled the desire for many to seek
out orthodontia not only as a medical necessity, but for cosmetic reasons as well.
Dr. Julian Freeman, DMD, specializes in orthodontics. A graduate of
Temple University Dental School, he
completed his residency training in
orthodontics at the University of
Pennsylvania followed by his specialty program in pediatric dentistry at
Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia.
Dr. Freemans dual training in both
orthodontics and pediatric dentistry
along with his 22 years of private
practice experience makes him
uniquely qualified to treat children
and adults with dental malocclusion
and cranio-facial malformations.
Whether its traditional braces or
custom made removable appliances,
orthodontics can help you have the
healthy, straight, beautiful smile
youve been waiting for!
