According to Classic Cake executive pastry chef Robert W.
Bennett, one of the latest trends
gives new meaning to the art of
wedding cake design. Cut out fondant and gum paste flowers have
given way to hand painted artisanship. The cake faade has
become a canvas, Bennett says
pointing to several recent dessert
centerpieces. There are floral
watercolor gardens and bold
vibrant abstract graphics. Some
are unique while others capture
the likeness of masters Monet,
Picasso and Dali. The true mastery is the way these hand painted
cakes capture the essence of a
bride and groom, a moment in
time or a scripted message.
Options are limitless.
Yet, no matter if its a hand
painted design or another hot
trend, the consultation and tasting
