Reflection of Course
At the beginning of this course I was very excited to take part in this class. I work at IKEA and Im in
training to work with their interior design program. I was informed by the workers that AutoCad is a
great program that they use quite often when working with outside clients and with setting up the store
layouts and rooms and its something that I should become familiar with.
Over the period of taking this course I have learned a lot. There has been a lot of trial and errors but for
me thats the best way that I learn. Try something out and if thats not correct, redo it until you get a
full understanding of it and then go to the next step. I really enjoyed learning how to set up a floor plan
and making sure the dimensions, size, and placing of everything was correct. The tools I learned were
very helpful with setting up the floorplan, (i.e. Offset tool, Trim, Extend, etc.). I used those tools the
most because it made it a lot faster and easier when doing the drafting of the walls. The most I had
trouble with would be setting up the blocks from manufactures that were already made and adding
them into my drawing and making sure the layers were correct. I struggled a few times trying to get the
blocks to show in the right layer once exploded and resaved as a block for my drawing. If it werent for
the demonstration videos and the feedback from the professor this would have been a lot harder to get
through. The videos were very clear and thorough on how to complete certain tasks and I really
appreciate those being available.
Overall this has been a great learning experience for me over the past six weeks. Im really excited to
learn more and actually put what Ive learned into action. I really appreciate the feedback that Ive been
given throughout the course and I look forward to finishing out this program with the rest of you. Best
of luck to you in your future courses and careers!
