- SVC Max brought up two issues to be reiterated for Post Home / Canteen member knowledge:
Per our Canteen By-Laws. Only Canteen employees and Post officers designated by name and position are
authorized behind the bar. However, for purposes of cooking and aiding the Canteen or in situations when
necessary, the Canteen Manager, or if not present, senior Post officer, can approve access behind the bar. In the
absence of the aforementioned people the on-duty bartender has the approval/disapproval authority.
Also from our Canteen Bylaws. There will be no smoking during general membership meetings. This
no smoking policy applies only to VFW membership meetings and is not intended to implement a no
smoking ban for the Canteen. Members may request a smoking break during the normal meeting;
during these breaks, the designated smoking area will be outside the Canteen. (Suggest this be amended to
add Thanksgiving, Christmas, and other events designated and voted by Post membership as special).
For anyone interested in reading Post 10216 and Canteen By-Laws, go to www.vfw10216.com. The By-Laws
are posted at the bottom right side of our homepage.
NEW BUSINESS: - Joe Perkins asked for $200 to support POW/MIA events. Dan motioned to provide the
funds; 2nd by Mark. Motion carried.
For those who have questions about the Cooties, the Military Order of the Cootie or MOC is considered the
Honored Degree of the VFW. Membership is open to members in good standing in the VFW who have
displayed their willingness to work for the parent organization. If you are active in supporting the Post, you
may be approached to join this prestigious organization.
CLOSING CEREMONIES:
DPA Chaplain Max gave the
closing prayer.
