GOOD OF THE ORDER:

- The VFW National Commander in Chief was at our Post the evening of 28 June. The event went very well.
- SVC Maxson reminded that we owe $500 or an opportunity to attend CofA because we didnt pick a winner
prior to the Chiang Mai convention. To be discussed at August general membership meeting.
- Doc discussed with the Post the possibility of raising funds ($400) to help cover the cost of Frank Sasss
helicopter ride for medical attention. Tricare and VA rejected covering the cost ($10K debt falls to his widow).
- SVC Max working submissions to the Department of the Pacific Areas publication Typhoon. Send SVC Max
any photos of events VFW members are involved at.
See past issues of Typhoon here:
http://www.vfwdeptpacific.org/index.php/typhoon
- JVC Leon, SVC Max, and Commander Cynthia recognized the Rough Riders Motorcycle Club and HRC
Chairman and Canteen Manager Van for their outstanding support and contributions to Post 10216.

- SVC Max brought up two issues to be reiterated for Post Home / Canteen member knowledge:
Per our Canteen By-Laws. Only Canteen employees and Post officers designated by name and position are
authorized behind the bar. However, for purposes of cooking and aiding the Canteen or in situations when
necessary, the Canteen Manager, or if not present, senior Post officer, can approve access behind the bar. In the
absence of the aforementioned people the on-duty bartender has the approval/disapproval authority.
Also from our Canteen Bylaws. There will be no smoking during general membership meetings. This
no smoking policy applies only to VFW membership meetings and is not intended to implement a no
smoking ban for the Canteen. Members may request a smoking break during the normal meeting;
during these breaks, the designated smoking area will be outside the Canteen. (Suggest this be amended to
add Thanksgiving, Christmas, and other events designated and voted by Post membership as special).
For anyone interested in reading Post 10216 and Canteen By-Laws, go to www.vfw10216.com. The By-Laws
are posted at the bottom right side of our homepage.

NEW BUSINESS: - Joe Perkins asked for $200 to support POW/MIA events. Dan motioned to provide the
funds; 2nd by Mark. Motion carried.

Military Order of the Cootie (MOC):

The next Cootie scratch is 16 July at 1330ish.

For those who have questions about the Cooties, the Military Order of the Cootie or MOC is considered the
Honored Degree of the VFW. Membership is open to members in good standing in the VFW who have
displayed their willingness to work for the parent organization. If you are active in supporting the Post, you
may be approached to join this prestigious organization.

CLOSING CEREMONIES:
DPA Chaplain Max gave the
closing prayer.

- Our next General Membership meeting is 8 August at 1830.
