DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR

The successful applicant will be assigned to Information Technology and report to the
Manager Applications Delivery.
As a member of our Information Technology and Business Process Improvement team, you will be
interacting with Technical and Non-Technical Teams to identify areas for technological
improvement, producing database design specifications, assist in developing and testing software
to support the implementation of solutions to meet the needs of the production facilities.
You will concentrate on maintaining high availability of our Microsoft SQL-based databases and
have opportunity to work with other database technologies such as Oracle in a Windows based
environment.
Responsibilities:
y Provide support with respect to database implementations, upgrades, and ensuring
databases are maintained to current patch levels.
y Provide root cause analysis of production-related database issues.
y Monitor, test, validate and implement performance and resource optimization
improvements, maintain database security and software, ensure backup and recovery
procedures are in place.
y Maintain scripts, jobs, views, stored procedures, user-defined functions and triggers.
y Ensure capacity and growth planning is kept up to date.
y Act as a key resource to other Information Technology teams ensuring proper database
design during project development
Qualifications:
y Minimum education level of University Degree, College Diploma or equivalent in
Information Technology, Computer Science, or Electronics Technology
y Minimum 3 years' experience working with Microsoft SQL 2005/2008/2008 R2/SQL 2012
y Expert Working knowledge of MS SQL DB, SQL scripting, Enterprise level experience
working with large tables. Demonstrates strong DB2 DBA knowledge in a large, complex
production support / release environment
y Demonstrates applied knowledge of Oracle database
y Demonstrates applied knowledge of SQL Ability to manage, optimize and support an
enterprise SQL infrastructure.
y Experience in implementing MS SQL solutions in a virtualized environment is a definite
asset.
y Experience in troubleshooting incidents and resolving issues with blocking, dead locks,
performance and replication.
y Solid understanding of IT systems, software, management, processes and practices (ie.
ITIL, Agile)
y Experience with integration of legacy systems to new technology is a definite asset.
y Knowledge of Manufacturing Industries.
y Strong verbal and written communication skills
