The
Indian
Water
Works
Association (IWWA) was established in
1968 and registered in India (under the
Socities Registration Act) with its
headquarter in Mumbai at the address
given above. It has a large membership
spread throughout the country, connected
through a network of local centres at
Ahmedabad,
Bangalore,
Vadodara,
Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Indore,
Jodhpur, Lucknow, Chennai, Nagpur, New
Delhi, Pune, Srinagar, Guwahati etc.
Activities :
Publication of a Quarterly Journal:
The Journal of Indian Water Works
Association, the only of its kind in the
country, is a widely read magazine and
carries articles of high technical value
contributed by experts in the field of Water
Works and Waste-water Engineering and
Management. Its other features cover
Notes & News (Indian and overseas),
Reviews of publications, Latest product
Information, etc.
Publication of a News letter :
(Midstream)
It covers the activities carried out and
planned by the H.Q. and different Centres
of IWWA and News in this field.

Holding of National Conventions :


These are organised annually in the month
of January / February in important cities in
our country. The Conventions attract a
large assembly of delegates from all over
the country for a fraternal get-together and
exchange of views, apart from discussions
on the high quality technical papers
presented on the Convention. Experts from
overseas are also invited to participate in
and address the Convention. As a part of
the Convention, technical visits are also
arranged to important installations nearby
and exhibitions of latest technologies,
plant and equipment connected with water
and waste-water works.
The Association also conducts :
Refresher courses, workshops on specific
topics for its members & other working in
the water & waste water sector.
International
Conferences,
Special
Conferences, Seminars and Symposia in
association with local & International
Organisations and Agencies and also under
the aegis of Global Water Partnership,
International Water Association and the
Association of South Central and West
Asian Countries (ASCEW).

Publication of Manuals :
IWWA publishes manuals on subjects of
practical interest to professional Water &
Waste-water engineers, managers &
consultants.

Lecture meetings, site visits, film shows


etc. in which members attached to
different centres participate locally.

Other features of the Association are :


It has close relations with the Global
Water Partnership, International Water
Association and actively participate in
their programmes in different parts of the
world.

Engineers working with manufacturers and


suppliers of equipment and instruments
used in water and sewerage works, e.g.
pumps, pipes, valves, meters and
accessories, plumbing fixtures, electronic
gadgets for measurements of flow of water
and its quality characteristics.

It assists Bureau of Indian Standards in


preparing standards for various items
connected with water supply and wastewater engineering and technology.

Sanitary engineers practising in domestic


and industrial plumbing.

hydraulic engineering.

design,
construction,
operation,
maintenance, financing, administration and
management of water supply, irrigation,
hydro-electricity and sewerage systems.
Companys manufacturing and supplying
materials and equipments to be used in
water supply and waste water services.
Students of Science and Engineering
colleges and even others who may not
have the qualification necessary for regular
membership but have interest and work
experience in water related subject. They
can become Student and Associate
members respectively.

low when compared to the benefits
available and is given in Table 3 on page
4 for different classes of membership in
the application form, while their figures
for one time subscription for life are
given in table1.
