INTRODUCTION

Nationwide every year thousands of students end up with

injuries due to heavy backpack. Shouldering a hefty load can
cause back pain, according to a study by researchers at the
University of California in Riverside. The study was led by David
Siambanes, DO, of the Inland Empire Spine Center in Riverside,
Calif. Participants were 3,500 students aged 11 to 15 at four
middle schools in Riverside and San Bernardino counties.
Researchers weighed the student backpacks and asked the
student how often they used their backpacks and how much
pain, if any, they felt as a result.
Most students said they hurt, at least a bit, from their
backpacks; 64% reported having back pain at some time. Two
of every five children said they felt pain while wearing their
backpacks. In students reporting pain, about 12% said it was
"not bad," while almost 90% said their back pain was "bad" or
"very bad."

OBJECTIVE
1. To decrease the percentages of injuries especially back
injuries among student
2. To produce a backpack that more durable.
3. Furthermore, to make a water resistance backpack and
more comfortable for student to carry.
4. To make the bag zip not easily broken.

PROBLEMS
1. 1. People especially students have back injury and
shoulder injuries due to the too many contents to
bring such as books.
2. Most of backpack easy to ripped and less
compartment. This is another complain that being
told by many student.
3. Backpack-poor of water resistance and
uncomfortable. Most of the backpack on the
market will sag if there are too many contents It
will cause uncomfortable on the user.
4. Zip easy to broke. If the user open-close the zip
frequently, it will cause the zip to wear and then
broken. The backpack cannot be used anymore.

adjustable straps
It comes with bubble pack on the strip to make it
more comfortable and the back of the bag is made
up of sponge material.
The compartment for laptop storage is made up of
sponge to absorb high impact.

MAIN MATERIALS
Pack-Cloth Nylon
The backpacks are shiny and slick to the touch. The main
advantages of pack cloth nylon are it is ready acceptance
of waterproof coating, abrasion resistance, and excellent.

Polyester
Has higher resistance to ultra-violet (UV) degradation than
nylon but it is not the most rugged material for a
backpack. However, it is strong and tough enough for little
kids. Backpacks made of polyester are affordable, hold
color well (meaning they can be very vibrant in colour).

Spongy Layer
To reduce the injuries on shoulder and back body that
occurred among student.

Ykk AquaGuard Zipper

More sustainable and wear resistance.
Prevent from rusting
Not easily broken

METHODOLOGY

Purpose to decrease the percentage of injuries especially

back injuries among students. Thus, it would be the most
ideal backpack for a student to get due to its
characteristics.

Approach Internet based research on the scientists

research about the injuries obtained among the students
due to heavy and uncomfortable backpack

Sampling method It has been already mentioned that,

the interview will be only on the students of Politeknik
Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah.
Sketching -Based on the results of the approaching
method and the research on internet, the sketching part of
the product.

APPENDIX

CONCLUSION
Weight recommendations and carrying behaviours are not consistently
supported in the recent studies; several studies call for an examination
of psychosomatic behaviours as potential predictors of back pain in
childhood and adolescence.
